In Liaoning Province's Panjing City, Ms. Xie Dexin, a retired senior engineer from the Liaohe Oil Field, was illegally arrested by Xinglongtai's Public Security Bureau police on August 19, 2003, only for distributing two Falun Gong truth CD's. She went on a hunger strike for 3 days (as of August 22, 2003) while being detained in the Bohai Detention Centre.

Ms. Xie had been detained twice because of going to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. Her daughter Ms. Pu Yu, also a practitioner, was arrested earlier and unjustly sentenced to two years due to publicly posting Falun Gong truth clarification information. Ms. Pu is in the Liaoning Women's Jail now. Because of her firm belief in Dafa, they extended her sentence to one more year and have been torturing her nearly to death. Ms. Pu left her son, a child in primary school, under the care of Ms. Xie, the child's grandmother. Now Ms. Xie is herself in danger of being sent to a forced labour camp.

Ms. Xie's husband, an ex-manager of the oil well surveying company, is over 70 years old and is disabled from a stroke. He has to take care of his little grandson, as the child's father was forced to divorce Ms. Pu in order not to be implicated and incur persecution upon himself.

It is said that the Liaohe Oil Field's "610 Office" [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.] got involved with this case. They cold-hearedly insisted on sending the 70-something Ms. Xie to a forced labour camp. They would not release Ms. Xie, even with bail bonds from the oil field unit.
