67-Year-Old Ms. Chen Xiurong Died as a Result of Persecution in Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province

Ms. Chen Xiurong, in her 60s, began practising Falun Gong in 1996 and benefited both mentally and spiritually. She went to Beijing to appeal against the persecution in 2000, but she was injured as a result of being brutally beaten by a government employee. After that, local police often harassed and ransacked her home. They threatened her, took her Falun Gong books, and took her into custody at the local police station. Her family feared persecution, so they helped the police to restrict her personal freedom. She had symptoms of a stroke in 2004 and died in August 2007 at the age of 67. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Qin Daqun Died as a Result of Abuse in Custody in Chongqing City
2008-09-24After the persecution started, Mr. Qin Daqun, 56, was taken into custody at the Geleshan Brainwashing Centre. On October 5th, 2005, he was arrested by officers from the Shapingba District Police Department and sentenced to one year of forced labour, which he served in the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. On May 19th, 2008, the police arrested Mr. Qin. The police detained him in the Jiangbei Detention Centre, where a guard assaulted him from behind and another guard kicked him in the chest, causing him to pass out on the floor. Later he was admitted to hospital, emaciated and dying. Mr. Qin's family picked him up on August 28th, 2008. He died at around 3:00 p.m. on September 5th, 2008. -
Police Involvement Suspected in Mrs. Shi Guiying's Unnatural Death

On October 28th, 2005, Ms. Shi Guiying went to visit her nephew. On October 30th, her son received a phone call from police saying that she had been taken to the police station after falling off a motorcycle, that she was unconscious and needed to be picked up. Ms. Shi's family took her from the police station to the hospital. She was found to be completely paralysed and unable to speak. Ms. Shi passed away on September 10th, 2006. -
Mourning the Death of Falun Gong Practitioner Mr. Yang Guang
2008-09-23I was shocked to hear that Falun Gong practitioner Yang Guang from Changchun had died in Jilin Prison. I was so sad and wanted to cry, but I have no more tears. His death is one more addition to over a dozen practitioners that I knew that died in the persecution. It is hard to imagine the torture Yang Guang endured. In eight years, he was subjected to all sorts of inhuman treatment. He was in critical condition many times. He was incontinent, suffered muscular atrophy, and was only skin and bones. His legs were crippled and his toes were rotten and deformed. When he was no longer able to walk, he had oedema throughout his whole body and could not eat, yet the prison authorities still refused to release him for medical treatment. -
Elder Sister Tortured to Death and Younger Sister Facing Sentence
2008-09-23On March 13th, 2008, Ms. Gu Jianmin died as a result of the persecution. In June 2006, she was arrested and sentenced to one year of forced labour. Within a few months of being released from detention, she was arrested again and later died as a result of the persecution. Her younger sister, Ms. Gu Jihong was arrested in July 2008 and is facing a sentence. This is the third time that she has been arrested. In June 2000, she was sentenced to three years in prison. In June 2005, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour but was not released on time. The sisters suffered persecution during the past nine years because they practised Falun Gong. -
Ms. Feng Zuoru Passed Away in Tianjin
2008-09-23Ms. Feng Zuoru, a Falun Gong practitioner, was held in a labour camp for three years. She was tortured and suffered a severe relapse of diabetes while in custody. Chinese Communist Party officials arrested her in 2001 when she distributed Falun Gong materials. They sentenced her to three years of forced labour without trial. She persisted in her belief at the Banqiao Labour Camp in Tianjin, and the authorities sent her to the Strictly Controlled Division, where they physically and verbally assaulted her. The abuse was around-the-clock and went on until she suffered a relapse of diabetes. The authorities ignored her condition and instead starved her. In addition, they forced her to do heavy manual labour in a toxic environment. She passed away on August 8th, 2008. -
Older Practitioner Mr. Qian Shiguang Dies after Years of Torture

Mr. Qian Shiguang, 65, was sentenced to forced labour camps on several occasions. In Tuanhe Forced Labour Camp in Beijing inmates there tortured him inhumanly and beat him until his lower back was fractured. In Gongjiawan Brainwashing Centre he was tortured by being cuffed behind his back, which caused him to suffer from the prolapse of his rectum and incontinence. Mr. Qian died on September 8th, 2008. -
78-year-old Mr. Cao Changlin Mysteriously Beaten to Death in Wuhan City, Hubei Province
2008-09-20On August 8th, 2008, Mr. Cao Changlin, 78 years old, was discovered missing after he left his home at 9:30 p.m., one hour after the Olympics began. His family looked for him everywhere, but could not find him. Three days later, the neighbourhood administration notified his family that he had been taken by ambulance to hospital. Eyewitnesses said that when Mr. Cao entered the hospital there were three holes in his head along with many wounds. His ear was bleeding, and he could not see anything. His left shoulder bone was fractured, and his back was covered with bruises. This healthy and kind gentleman was beaten to the verge of death and passed away seven days later on August 15th. -
Over-70-Year-Old Practitioner Dies as a Result of Relentless Persecution
2008-09-13Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuelan, in her 70s, was a retired doctor. On June 13th, 2001, the police arrested her in her house, took her money and possessions worth 20,000 yuan, and had her sentenced to three years of forced labour. On June 14th, 2001, they took her to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. Ms. Zhang suffered three years of torture at the camp. On July 9th, 2008, several officers tried to arrest her at her home. Ms. Zhang had just broken her leg. Officers saw that her injury was very serious, so they had to leave her at home but assigned local police to watch her 24 hours per day. Her son and daughter-in-law were also home. They kept any other practitioners from visiting her. Ms. Zhang had no personal freedom at all and later on could not eat and became very thin. She died around August 15th, 2008, during the Olympics. -
Businessman Chen Xibu Dies as a Result of Persecution
2008-09-13Since July 1999, when the Chinese Communist Party began persecuting Falun Gong, 56-year-old Mr. Chen Xibu's family has endured all sorts of brutal mistreatment, such as having their homes ransacked numerous times, being arrested, and being extorted out of their money and possessions. Mr. Chen was detained multiple times. The police sentenced Mr. Chen to eight years in prison in 2003. He was tortured and locked in a small cell. His health declined. In 2007, they force-fed unknown substances in him. They had to stop the force-feeding when Mr. Chen vomited large amounts of blood. He was so weak and exhausted that he died on August 31st, 2008. -
55-Year-Old Mr. Cheng Yuanlong Dies as a Result of Torture at Benxi City Prison
2008-09-11Mr. Cheng Yuanlong, 55, wished to tell people about the goodness of Falun Gong, so he went out to distribute leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in October 2001. He was arrested, and the police detained him in November 2001. During his detention, guards stomped on his ribs, causing internal injuries that needed more than six months to heal. Mr. Cheng was sentenced to six years in prison. Several years of abuse suffered in Xihu Prison of Benxi City caused Mr. Cheng to become emaciated, but he never give up his faith. On August 20th, 2007, Prison Administration officials suddenly carried Mr. Cheng home without notification, evidently afraid that he was dying. They left him to his family. Due to the severity of his condition, he could not eat normally or recover. Mr. Cheng died on March 7th, 2008. -
His Mother Sentenced to Prison, Ms. Deng Linfeng's Son Dies after Being Threatened by the Police
2008-09-11Ms. Deng Linfeng, 42, and her 17-year-old son went through the security check before entering the train station and was arrested when security staff found informational materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong that she was carrying. The police forced her son, who was terrified, to lead them to their home. They threatened Ms. Deng and demanded information about other Falun Gong practitioners. When she refused to cooperate, they took her to the Jiamusi Railroad Detention Centre. After the trauma of seeing his mother arrested the boy became seriously ill. Ms. Deng's husband had to sell their house to take their son to see the doctors. Even after spending several thousand yuan, he still couldn't prevent their son from dying on their way home on August 20th, 2008. -
Mr. Yang Guang Tortured to Death in Jilin Province Prison
2008-09-10Mr. Yang Guang, 56, was arrested in November 2000. Changchun City Police Department interrogated Mr. Yang using cruel torture methods such as: long duration electric baton shocks, tiger bench, beatings with a steel rod, being hung up and beaten with hands cuffed behind the back, sleep deprivation, oxygen deprivation (suffocation with plastic bag over the head), and being force-fed liquor. He was detained in prisons and his health worsened. In 2006, Mr. Yang Guang was 100 per cent paralysed but the Prison would not release him. He died on August 25th, 2008. -
The Tragic Death of a Falun Gong Practitioner in Panjin City, Liaoning Province during the Olympics
2008-09-10During the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, over ten practitioners from Panjin City, Liaoning Province were arrested by police in their homes. Because Ms. Yang Jingfen practised Falun Gong, six policemen from broke into her home on August 18th 2008. The leader waved his name badge and told her husband: "Yang Jingfen is suspected of being a Falun Gong practitioner, we will take her away." Later her husband found out she was dead in front of their apartment building. The policemen told him that she had jumped to her death. Whether she jumped to escape persecution or was pushed out the window, aren't the police responsible for her death in either case? -
Forced to Hide from the Police for the Past Five Years, Mr. Lu Jun Could Not See His Mum Before She Passed Away
2008-09-08Falun Gong practitioner Lu Jun, aged 39, from Heilongjiang Province, was forced to leave home and go from place to place for five years. He was not even able to see his mum one last time before she passed away. Now there is only his elderly father left at home. Even so, the police still go to harass the father every day, trying to trick him into revealing Lu Jun's whereabouts.
