Chengdu City "610 Office" Extort "Confessions" by Torture at a Brainwashing Class

In 2002, all employers of Falun Gong practitioners had to pay 20,000 Yuan per employee per month for the brainwashing class. In 2003, the employers were forced to pay 5,000 to 6,000 Yuan per employed Falun Gong practitioner per month. They not only sent gangs to beat up practitioners, but also ordered them to steal farmers' harvests in the fields at midnight. -

Since Changchun TV Broadcasts Exposing Human Rights Violations against Falun Gong Practitioners, Jiang's Regime Escalates Brutal Persecution to Unprecedented Heights
2004-01-13On March 5, 2002, Falun Gong practitioners in China's northeastern city of Changchun broadcast programmes over China's state-run airwaves, exposing the systematic atrocities against Falun Gong practitioners and Jiang Zemin's attempts to cover them up. This exposure of the truth produced fear in the highest levels of the regime. Enraged, Jiang Zemin ordered to "kill without pardon" those responsible for the broadcast. Over the next few days, more than 5,000 people believed to be practitioners of Falun Gong were detained during an all-out and unprecedented police sweep in Changchun, and the city was under near-martial law. Dozens were killed as a result of police brutality during the round up. A total media blackout severely hampered many attempts to contact locals and confirm individual reports. -

2004-01-13The Jiamusi Labour Camp continually forces Dafa practitioners to perform intense labour, and most of the time the work goes beyond a regular working day. They did not discriminate about what kind of work they would force us to do, as long as it made them money. Recently they got a contract with an individual who sent us piles of dirty flax materials that could only be found in refuse piles. The labour camp forced us to use these dirty materials to make cushions for car seats, which would not meet any reasonable quality standard at all. They did not mind hurting consumers in order to make themselves a profit. -

2004-01-12My family then paid the money to the labour camp in exchange for my mum's release. However, the labour camp officials didn't release my mother as they promised. Two weeks later, the local police notified us that my mum was at the police station and could be released to us for an additional amount of 3,000 yuan. My family was really angry at their blatant corruption, yet had no choice but to pay them the money in hopes of reuniting my mother with the family. Those local officials! They don't help or serve the local people but instead take every opportunity to extort money from good people for their personal gain. -

2004-01-11Staff members from Nanyang City Political and Legal Committee "610 Office" have held many brainwashing sessions to persecute and extort money from practitioners. Every time a brainwashing session was held, the executive officers would appropriate large amounts of public money for the operation of such sessions. These funds are hard-earned money paid by the people of the district. However, on top of these extensive funds the brainwashing facility staff members force practitioners to pay 30 yuan in the name of room and board even though they are detained against their wishes and do not volunteer for these classes. -

I had extreme oedema in my feet and legs, so bad that I could not even wear shoes. My feet and arms became black and purple from serious blood capillary haemorrhages after my feet and arms were handcuffed for a long period of time. -

She came to the hospital and threatened me, saying, "You'll be released soon. We will exchange opinions with the Japanese Embassy. Even after you return back to Japan, we can still extradite you back to China." She also made other threatening remarks. Without the help of the Japanese government and overseas Falun Gong practitioners, I don't know what might have happened to me. I suppose I might be dying in the labour camp right now, or at least have to suffer a longer term of confinement. -

At the time of their detention all Falun Gong practitioners appealed in writing, demanding to be set free unconditionally, but their requests were categorically denied....A staff member named Sui Ziqiang said, "We cannot help it. The higher authorities ordered us to do this."
