Li Zhiqin's Family Threatened after Filing Complaint Over His Wrongful Death in Police Custody

Despite brutal persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Mr. Li Zhiqin steadfastly cultivated Falun Gong. In April 2006, he was forced to leave home to avoid being arrested. On September 12th, 2007, police officers broke into his apartment and arrested him. Mr. Li died that night in police custody. Over the past five years, Mr. Li’s family has continued to demand an explanation as to cause of his death. Not only did the police refuse to compensate them adequately, but they also threatened the entire family that they would be arrested should they appeal for justice. In July 2012, with no other avenues left to them, the family submitted a letter of complaint to the Ningjin County government. Police have been harassing and threatening the family. -
Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Fumei in Gaocheng City, Hebei Province, Arrested, Her Son Suffers Mental Breakdown
2012-12-21Mrs. Li Fumei was arrested on October 15th. That day she had gone to Chengguan Town in Jinzhou to explain the facts about Falun Gong. She was reported, and police arrested her and confiscated her electric motorcycle, mobile phone, and other personal belongings. The arrest of his mother and the ransacking of their home dealt Mrs. Li's son a major blow, and he had a nervous breakdown. -
High School Teacher in Harbin City Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
2012-12-21In May of 2012, English teachers Mr. and Mrs. Chen Rong of Hulan High School in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, were reported and arrested when they were telling people about the persecution of Falun Gong. Police used threats and promises to make Mr. Chen give up his practice of Falun Gong. They also told him to sign a guarantee statement, stating that he would never practise again. Mr. Chen was sentenced to three years in prison. They let Mr Chen's wife, Zhang Shuxia, go home on May 18th. -
Teacher Gong Ruiping from Beijing Arrested Again, Subjected to Repeated Persecution
2012-12-21Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gong Ruiping is recognized as an excellent teacher. However, she has been repeatedly persecuted for her belief in Falun Gong. On August 29th, 2012, she was arrested again and sentenced to two years and nine months in prison. Ms. Gong is currently being held at the Shenyi District Nihe Detention Centre. Previously in 2002, Ms. Gong was sentenced to four years in prison. She was subjected to inhumane torture in the Beijing Women’s Prison, where she was once placed in solitary confinement for eight months and subjected to sleep deprivation, electric shocks, stick beatings, and bound. -
Practitioner Ms. Zhu Gaihong Arrested in Yuzhou City, Henan Province
2012-12-21On October 2nd, 2012, officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Yuzhou City, Henan Province, and the police and thugs from Fanggang Village Government ordered Ms. Zhu Gaihong and the director of the local Women’s Union to come to the village government. They used the excuse that Ms. Zhu needed to fill out paperwork for the one child documentation. As soon as she arrived there, police officers forced her into a bus that took her to Xuchang City Detention Centre. -
Ms. Li Aiqun from Jiangmen, Guangdong Province Arrested Again
2012-12-21Officials from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) in Pengjiang District, Jiangmen City arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Li Aiqun again on October 23rd, 2012. They later took her to a detention centre in Jiangmen. Officials from this 610 Office had been monitoring Ms. Li Aiqun closely and continually persecuted her. Her husband was very frightened. Moreover, due to being brainwashed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) culture, he dared not to accept the truth about Falun Gong, and objected that his wife was practising. -
Many Practitioners from Yueyang City Arrested
2012-12-21On November 3rd, 2012, police arrested many practitioners who live in Yueyang City. The practitioners' homes were ransacked and they were taken to a brainwashing centre. Among them were many elderly seniors. Some have been on a hunger strike and their health is in critical status. Police stormed into Ms. Deng Faxiu's home and arrested her. They also ransacked her home, and arrested Ms. Liu, Ms. Xiao, and Ms. Liu, all of whom are in their seventies, Ms. Zeng Xihui was also arrested; she is in her sixties. -
Four Falun Gong Practitioners from Qingdao City, Shandong Province, Sentenced
2012-12-21Four Falun Gong practitioners from Jiaonan, Qingdao City, Shandong Province were sentenced and are now incarcerated in Jinan Prison. Mr. Zhang Maoyuan was sentenced to seven years, Mr. Li Qibing to three and a half years, and Mr. Geng Dexiao to five years. Mr. Yin Qiye's sentence is yet to be clarified. Mr. Zhang and Ms. Feng were known as good people in their hometown. They had been taking good care of two of their elderly disabled parents. After the police arrested Mr. Zhang and Ms. Feng, they locked the two disabled seniors in their room. When relatives found out about this, the two seniors hadn't had anything to eat for two days. -
Judge Yells at Falun Gong Practitioner: "Am I Interrogating You, or Are You Interrogating Me?"
2012-12-21Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Dai Dakui, 72, was arrested in 2003 and imprisoned for five years for making banners with messages explaining the truth about Falun Gong. After his release, he was arrested two more times and sent to brainwashing centres. On April 16th, 2012, Mr. Dai was arrested again and his home ransacked. He was tortured in a brainwashing centre for one month, then a detention centre for five months. During his trial Mr. Dai defended himself. The judge yelled at him, “Stop! Who's the judge here? Am I interrogating you, or are you interrogating me?” -
Mr. Xu Xiwang, 53, Dies after Injection Given at Brainwashing Centre
2012-12-07Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Xu Xiwang was disabled since childhood. His left arm was smaller and weaker than his right arm and was disabled. Mr. Xu was arrested and taken to Liuji Brainwashing Centre on March 18th, 2011. He was severely beaten and injected with unknown drugs. Immediately after the injection, he became totally incontinent and delirious. He could not even recognize his acquaintances. Mr. Xu died on November 9th, 2012, at the age of only 53. -
Zheng Xiangxing, Dead or Alive? - Baoding Prison Denies Family's Visits
2012-12-07Mr. Zheng Xiangxing from Tangshan City, Hebei Province, was seriously injured as a result of being tortured in Baoding Prison. He had a craniotomy, and his family is very worried about him. They are not sure if he is dead or alive. He is not in the intensive care unit of the First Centre Hospital in Baoding City. Plainclothes police were gathered in front of the entrance, claiming that Mr. Zheng was still being treated. At the same time they were ready to arrest the Falun Gong practitioners who had come to visit him so that they could withhold any information and cover up the truth of his injuries. The police are currently monitoring Zheng Xiangxing's relatives. -
Associate Professor Ms. Zhang Wei from Wuhan University of Technology Arrested for the Fifth Time
2012-12-07Ms. Zhang Wei was arrested on a street in Beijing on July 22nd, 2012, and was taken to Banqiao Brainwashing Centre by officers from the Wuhan Domestic Security Division and the security guards of Wuhan University of Technology on November 5th. Her family is extremely worried about her. This is the fifth time Ms. Zhang has been arrested, just because she firmly believes in Falun Gong and follows the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. She has been brutally tortured and held in detention centres and brainwashing centres. -
Ms. Wang Chunxiang, 53, Tortured to Death in 2011 in Liaoning Women's Prison
2012-12-07Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Chunxiang was sentenced to eight years in prison in 2006, and incarcerated at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. She died in prison on September 25th, 2011. On April 5th, 2011, Ms. Wang was taken to the storage room, where inmates beat her severely. The guards were watching outside the room. Ms. Wang ran out of the room, telling the guards, “They are beating me.” The guards said, “Who beat you? Who saw it?” “Who let you not do labour in the workshop?” Ms. Wang was dragged back to the room and beaten continuously. When she was taken back to the cell, bruises covered her body. Her buttocks had been pierced by needles and was festering and turning black. -
Ms. Li Jinan, Who Once Assisted a Student in Poverty for Over Ten Years, Persecuted Again
2012-12-07One day in late September 2012, Li Kunnan, the deputy chairman of the Neighbourhood Management Committee of Changjiang Street, Kunshan City, led several subordinates to “visit” Ms. Li Jinan. They told her, “Just as during the World Expo of 2010, you are not allowed to leave Kunshan during the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) 18th Congress, and we will track and monitor you around the clock.” The harassment greatly harmed Ms. Li and her family. Ms. Li was once a government official. In 1993, she started to financially assist Hong Gang, a poor child. -
Ms. Gong Ruiping, a Teacher from Beijing Who Suffered Repeated Persecution, Imprisoned Again
2012-12-07Ms. Gong Ruiping, a former teacher, lost her job because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, and has suffered brutal persecution physically and mentally. In 2012, Ms. Gong was arrested at her home in the Miyun District on August 29th. She was later sentenced to two years and nine months of forced labour, and is being detained in the Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp.
