  • Retired Teacher Mr. Dou Pingjun from Shahe Arrested and Robbed

    On May 26th, 2012, at noon, at the entrance to the Construction Bank located near the intersection of Maoyi Street and Jianshe Avenue in Shahe, Hebei Province, three policemen forcibly pulled and dragged grey-haired Mr. Dou Pingjun away from his wife. Because of the unusually rough treatment, Mr. Dou had a heart attack. He lay on the ground for half an hour and could not move. Many people gathered around him and took pictures. Finally, Hou Shouhong led a group of police to take Mr. Dou into custody. They were observed throwing all of Mr. Dou's personal items into a bag and then putting them in a police vehicle. The police forced a bystander to delete the pictures he took of the incident.
  • Ms. Zou Xuemei from Zhanjiang, Guangdong Persecuted and Force-fed

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zou Xuemei was taken to the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre by police on April 24th, 2012. Ms. Zou has become very thin 15 days later as a result of the persecution. He Weijie and other officers co In the Zhanjiang Brainwashing Centre, the guards forced Ms. Zou to listen to the Communist Party's false propaganda. Ms. Zou went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Four or five people held Ms. Zou's hands and feet and force-fed her with food and drugs. Police continuously harass and threaten her.

    What is the 610 Office? How and why did it come to exist? Why is it carrying out measures ostensibly under the purview of the Ministry of Public Security? The 610 Office is named after the date of its creation: June 10th, 1999. “Six-ten” functions outside the state system without any official standing. At its core, the 610 Office is a plainclothes Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-based extra-ministerial security force focused on suppressing the Falun Gong spiritual group. The leading group sets the policy direction, which the 610 Office executes.
  • Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Officials in Wuhan City, Hubei Province Planned Trial of Seven Falun Gong Practitioners

    The Wuchang District Court, Wuhan City, Hubei Province planned to put seven Falun Gong practitioners on trial on May 19th, 2012. According to inside information, Zhou Yongkang, the head of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Political and Legislative Affairs Committee, was instrumental in pushing this one-year long case. Zhou ordered the Public Security Ministry to be in charge, and the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and other law-enforcement organizations to adjudicate this case.
  • Mr. Lu Kailai, Paralysed Due to Persecution, Recently Transferred to Jinzhou Prison

    Mr. Lu Kaili was an engineer at the Dalian Heavy Industry Group Co. Due to the torture and abuse to which he was subjected while being detained, Mr. Lu became paralysed. On May 8th, 2012, he was transferred to Jinzhou Prison and detained in the prison clinic. Four inmates were assigned to watch him. His family has been denied permission to visit him. His current situation is unknown.
  • Mr. Pang Guangwen Tortured with Heavy Foot Shackles; His Family Members Are Extremely Worried

    On the evening of April 27th, 2012, Chinese Communist Party (CCP) police officers arrested Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Pang Guangwen. They put him in the Qingchilu Detention Centre in Changning District, Shanghai for detention. Currently, he has been detained for 30 days. At the detention centre, Mr. Pang was put in heavy foot shackles. No one was able to obtain a list of items that were confiscated from him; not his family members or even his lawyer. Ms. Pang's wife is very concerned about him. She, too, has been persecuted for more than three years by the CCP.
  • Law-Abiding Citizens Detained for Trying to Locate an Arrested Falun Gong Practitioner

    Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Huo Jinping and Mr. Guo Jingfen were arrested on the evening of March13th, 2012, when police broke into their home. The practitioners were taken to the Jiamusi Detention Centre. Later on, Mr. Huo Jinping was secretly transferred. His current whereabouts are unknown. Other practitioners and Mr. Huo's family members were recently arrested for trying to locate him.
  • Fuzhen Town Officials Threaten Village Petitioners and Force Them to Sign a Retraction

    Following the arrest of Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xiaodong on February 25th, 2012, local residents of the Zhouguantun Village gathered 300 signatures, along with fingerprints, to demand his immediate release. In response, the authorities have harassed and threatened the villagers. Fuzhen Town officials in Botou City formed four teams to conduct a large-scale manhunt for those who signed the petition. By May 18th, they had located all of the petitioners. Officials then ordered these villagers to sign a document stating that they had signed the original petition solely due to their sympathy for Mr. Wang's unattended wife and child. The villagers were also forced to sign another document, which defamed Falun Gong.
  • Persecution Events Leading to the Death of Zhang Qingchao, a Well-Known Officer at Quzhou County, Hubei Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Qingchao was well-known and considered a good person throughout many villages in Handan District, Hebei Province. Mr. Zhang was the vice secretary of the Communist Party Committee at Huaiqiao Township. He was persecuted many times for faithfully cultivating Falun Gong. He was sent to a forced labour camp twice and subjected to severe mental and physical torture. The slave labour there consisted of making flower circles from shortly after six in the morning until nine thirty p.m.
  • Several Falun Gong Practitioners in Suihua City Sentenced Recently

    Recently, several Falun Gong practitioners in Suihua City were sentenced after talking about Falun Gong to people. Ms. Zhou Guilan wanted to let more people know that Falun Gong is great, so she visited many places and talked to everyone she met. She was arrested by police and was detained at a detention centre. Later she was sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment. Her family hired a lawyer to plead not guilty for her. However, on March 29th, 2012, before the second hearing took place she was persecuted to death after suffering in the prison for seven and a half months. She was 64 years old.
  • Doctor Yue Qin Secretly Sentenced to Seven Years in Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Dr. Yue Qin, in his forties, was arrested on July 9th, 2010, and later secretly sentenced to seven years in prison in Yinchuan Prison in Ningxia Province. Since July 20th, 1999, when the persecution began, at least 100 practitioners have been detained in Yinchuan Prison. The prison subjects practitioners to brutal persecution over extended periods of time, hiring outside “experts” to train prison guards in a variety of methods to “transform” or brainwash practitioners.
  • A Family's Anguish: One Daughter Died as a Result of Persecution, Another Daughter and Daughter-in-law in Detention

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Faxiu was arrested at home by police on May 22nd, 2012. Her family was building a new house, and she was cooking for the builders at the time. Ju Peng and the police ransacked her home, confiscated Falun Gong books and materials, and took Ms. Wang into custody. She is currently being held in the Mengyin County Detention Centre. After Ms. Wang was arrested, her mother-in-law couldn’t sleep at night and was in extreme anguish.
  • Appealing for Their Son's Release, Mr. Zhou Xiangyang's Parents Arrested and Held in Brainwashing Centre

    Mr. Zhou Xiangyang has been on a hunger strike to protest his detention and torture for almost a year. He is in critical condition. Mr. Zhou’s parents went to Binhai Prison in Tianjin on February 15th, 2012 to request that Mr. Zhou be granted medical parole. The elderly couple had to drive their tractor for one and a half days to get to the prison. They then camped directly opposite the prison for several days to demand their son's release. Mr. Zhou's father stood outside the prison, wearing a white vest on which he'd written words appealing for his son's release. At 2 a.m., Mr. Zhou’s parents were taken to Changli Brainwashing Centre.
  • Mr. Zeng Wei Turns Over a New Leaf and Becomes a Practitioner, Then Is Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

    Mr. Zeng Wei, a Falun Gong practitioner from Chongqing City, was once a street bully and was held in a forced labour camp because of fighting and drug use. While he was there, he met some practitioners and learned more about Falun Gong, which changed his life. He began practising in September 2009, and was determined to turn over a new leaf and become a good person. However, he was then arrested twice by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) between March and April of 2012, and has now been forced to leave home to avoid further persecution.
  • Mr. Wu Zhiqian Arrested Again for His Belief

    Mr. Wu Zhiqian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan City in Hubei Province, was arrested as he was returning home from work at around 5 p.m. on May 10th, 2012. His mother, a seventy-year-old retired teacher, is extremely worried about his safety. She can't walk by herself and relies on her son and daughter-in-law to take care of her. Previously in 2003, Mr. Wu was arrested while handing out materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and was sentenced to 15 months in a forced labour camp. In 2004, he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. In the prison, Mr. Wu were severely beaten many times.
