  • Recent Persecution Cases from Dayangshu Town of Oroqen Autonomous Prefecture, Inner Mongolia

    On November 6th, 2009, four officers broke into the home of practitioner Ms. Wang Guilan. They broke open the door, and without showing any identification, shoved practitioner Ms. Zheng Haiyan and the daughter of Ms. Wang Guilan to the ground. They punched, kicked and then arrested them. They took them to the Dayangshu Township police sub-division. They also ransacked Ms. Wang's house and confiscated a laptop, four mobile phones and some cash.   • Practitioners Arrested and Harassed by Mudanjiang Railway Police Department

    The Railway Police Department issued orders to the Harbin Railway Police Department to persecute Falun Gong practitioners. The Mudanjiang Railway Police Department immediately got to work. When they were asked whether they could meet the goal of arresting six practitioners, Sun Haibin, director of the Domestic Security Division, said yes. During the past few months, officers from the Mudanjiang Railway Police Department have arrested and harassed practitioners regularly, completely disrupting their daily lives.
  • 74-Year-Old Mr. Peng Chuhao Arrested in Loudi City, Hunan Province

    On December 2nd, 2009, police arrested 74-year-old Mr. Peng Chuhao, who was distributing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution in Xingzipu Town. Later that night, the police sent him to the Louxing Domestic Security Division in Loudi City. Previously in 2005 police arrested Mr. Peng when he was distributing Falun Gong materials and sentenced him to a three year term. In 2007, Mr. Peng was arrested again and escaped, but had to leave home to avoid further persecution. During the two years when Mr. Peng Chuhao was homeless, police went to his family, his children's families and his relatives to look for him. Because of the harassment by the police, the lives of these families were severely disturbed.

    In 2003, for the second time I was sent to the Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp of Changchun City for a one-year term because I distributed Falun Gong informational materials. In the labour camp, working overtime is routine. Most of the raw materials used for making items are harmful to the human body. For instance, dyed feathers are used to make small butterflies. When the raw feathers arrive, we have to dust them to make them unfold As we are dusting, our bodies and clothes become completely covered in the dye. Because we are inhaling the dust, even our phlegm is coloured by the dye.
  • Ms. Jiang Xinbo, Her Husband and Colleagues Being Forced to Write Self-criticism Papers

    Ms. Jiang Xinbo, a teacher and Falun Gong practitioner, has been held for three months and beaten severely in the Jiansanjiang Detention Centre because she distributed Falun Gong DVDs. Her husband wrote a letter in which he mentioned his wife's changes for the better since practising Falun Gong. More than forty colleagues, who had worked with her before at the school, signed petitions calling for her release. On November 2nd, 2009, the head of the Qianjing Middle School held a meeting with the teachers who had signed the petition. Those teachers became worried that they might lose their jobs. The school head forced the teachers and Ms. Jiang's husband to write lengthy self-criticism papers.
  • Viciousness at the Qingpu Brainwashing Centre in Shanghai

    Although its name suggests that it is a school, the Qingpu Law Education Centre is in fact a specially designated prison. Despite its beautiful surroundings, it is filled with vicious persecution. Falun Gong practitioners from Shanghai have been arrested and then detained there. The officials at the brainwashing sessions sometimes tell practitioners' family members to pressure them to give up their practice. In addition, they play with words and distort Falun Gong's teachings to confuse people. These are common strategies exploited to defame Falun Gong and "transform" [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners. To force practitioners to give up their belief, officials threaten them with term extensions, labour camp detention, and imprisonment.
  • Older Practitioner Ms. Wei Baoxia Drugged and Subjected to Unusual Procedures at the Heizuizi Women's Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province

    Ms. Wei Baoxia was very healthy prior to the persecution, because she believed in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance and was a good person, according to the principles of Falun Gong. After one year of torture at the Heizuizi Women's Labour Camp, however, her health deteriorated and her appetite declined. She often experienced dizziness, deteriorated eyesight and memory and became so weak that she now needs assistance to walk. Her hands are numb and swollen. She cannot hold a pen. She feels dryness, bitterness and sometimes sweetness in her oesophagus and can no longer take care of herself.
  • Ms. Wan Ping Remains Steadfast During 10 Years of Persecution

    Ms. Wan Ping was arrested once again for practising Falun Gong on September 22nd, 2009, and imprisoned at the Xinhe Police Station. Policeman Wang Nanting interrogated her using torture to force her into a fake confession. She was slapped on the face numerous times; was beaten to the ground and stepped on and was forced to kneel. Wang Nanting grabbed her by the hair and banged her head against a wall. Police forced Ms. Wan's family to pay 2,000 yuan for her release.
  • Judge in Leshan City, Sichuan Province Impedes Practitioner's Defence

    On December 9th, 2009, the husband of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Shanzhu hired human rights lawyer Mr. Liang Xiaojun in Beijing to defend his wife. The residing judge Lei Zhijun said, "We already tried Ms. Wang on August, 18th." Lawyer Mr. Liang asked the judge, "Why was the family not informed of the trial?" Lei replied, "Notice was sent to their home." But no one, including Ms. Wang's husband knew anything about the trial notice. The court did not bother to inform the family, and the court also barred the family from visiting her.
  • Policeman Chen Ju from Qitaihe Blocks Lawyer from Meeting with His Client, a Falun Gong Practitioner

    The Qitaihe legal system of the Heilongjiang Province has been preparing to put practitioner Mr. Jiang Botao on trial. Mr. Jiang's wife hired a lawyer for him. When the lawyer tried to proceed with the legal procedure, the head of the Domestic Security Division sub-branch team, Mr. Chen Ju, intervened and refused to allow the lawyer to meet with his client Mr. Jiang. The lawyer then decided to sue Mr. Chen Ju.
  • Ms. Wang Yan and Mr. Wang Yuchun from Shenyang City Arrested

    On December 9th, 2009, Ms. Wang Yan, 54, was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. Officials from the Dongta Police Station in Dadong District arrested her, and detained her at the Shenyang City Detention Centre. It has been more than ten years since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began persecuting Falun Gong practitioners. During this period, Ms. Wang Yan was detained on various occasions.
  • Imprisoned and Tortured, Ms. Jiang Zhifang, 57, Almost Loses Her Eyesight

    Ms. Jiang Zhifang believes in Truth-Compassion-Forbearance and she practises Falun Gong. In the past ten years during the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong, her home was searched several times. She was also arrested and sentenced to forced labour camps several times. She suffered all kinds of persecution and torture. On September 21st 2006, She was once again arrested by police. Later, she was sentenced to three years of imprisonment by the Guanghan court. In June 2007, Jiang Zhifang was taken to the Female Prison of Sichuan Province. She almost lost her eyesight completely and was not able to take care of herself. Even when her health was in such a bad condition, the officials didn't let her go.
  • Retired Doctor Ms. Guan Yong'e Sentenced to Three Year Prison Term

    In November 2008, police officers arrested Ms. Guan Yong'e, a retired doctor. She was arrested because she had a firm faith in Falun Gong and distributed leaflets exposing the persecution and told people the facts about Falun Gong to people in the township. After Ms. Guan was detained in the detention centre for a long time, she trembled all over and fainted often. Sometimes she fell down in a deadly faint because of serious headaches. In court, there was no lawyer to defend Ms. Guan. She defended herself on the grounds of innocence. On September 18th, 2009, the Intermediate Court in Changde City sentenced Ms. Guan to a three year prison term and later the appeal court sustained the original verdict.
  • Ms. Weishan Liu, A Teacher in Xiangfan City, Hubei Province, Was Tortured Until She Became Paralysed and Mentally Disabled

    Ms. Liu Weishan, 51, was severely persecuted and is now paralysed and bedridden. Her muscles have deteriorated, with her lower legs having lost all their muscles, causing her legs to be "z" shaped and distorted. She is mentally disabled and can only occasionally speak a few simple sentences, such as telling the caretaker "I want to go home." Ms. Liu, a perfectly healthy school teacher, was first held in prison for three years for no apparent reason. Then, because she refused to admit any guilt, she was tortured by the prison police until she had a mental collapse.
  • 610 Office Agents Deploy Tear Gas When Arresting Mr. Zhang Yu and His Family

    On August 8th, 2009, officials of the Manzhouli City Political and Judiciary Committee in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and agents of the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) deployed tear gas when arresting Mr. Zhang Yu; his wife, Ms. Xing Shuguang; his parents; and his daughter. As a result, Mr. Zhang has developed heart problems and Ms. Xing has lost hearing in both ears. Both remain in the detention centre. Despite the fact that both Mr. Zhang and his wife are in poor health, the authorities are planning to place the couple on trial.
