Police in Sichuan Province Step Up Persecution of Dafa Practitioners in Advance of Jiang Zemin's Visit

It has been learned that Jiang Zemin will visit Guang'an City, Sichuan Province on August 22. The authorities from the provinces of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Hubei, as well as Chongqing City have decided in an urgent meeting to closely monitor certain groups of people. Their main targets are Falun Gong practitioners, as well as other groups such as laid off workers who intend to appeal to the government about the injustices they have suffered. The authorities have asked the relevant departments to tightly control these so-called "dangerous elements." If anything goes wrong during Jiang's visit, the leaders of the relevant departments will be fired immediately. -
Harbin City Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Wang Guangying Dies after Being Persecuted Relentlessly for Four Years
2004-08-23Dafa practitioner Ms. Wang Guangying in her 40s, from Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province was persecuted many times by police because she firmly believed in Dafa. While she was homeless and went from place to place, her old illnesses recurred and she lost eyesight in both her eyes. Police went to her home many times to harass her, yet Wang Guangying's whole body was covered with edema and she was suffering from incontinence. Suffering from this painful condition as a result of relentless persecution, she died on July 15, 2004. -
68-Year-Old Ms. Xin Jingwen Beaten to Death at Local Labour Camp in Yueyang City, Hunan Province
2004-08-23Xin Jingwen was a 68-year-old woman from Yueyang City, Hunan Province. Xin was arrested twice and sent to a labour camp for distributing factual information about Falun Dafa. On May 2 2004 she died in the labour camp. Her family found many bruises on her body, so they questioned the police. The police department then said it was the labour camp personnel that beat her to death. -
Practitioner Yang Yun Dies After Torture and Brainwashing in Hebei Province
2004-08-23Yang Yun was arrested on March 1, 2002, and sent to Hebei Province Brainwashing Centre for persecution. Yang Yun was sent under custody of his workplace and the "610 Office" to the Brainwashing Centre. From 8:00 AM to midnight, collaborators and policemen took turns brainwashing him and simply did not let up. They tortured him until he could not breathe and his whole body turned purple. As a result of the torture Yang Yun's body and mind were devastated. He left this world on April 19, 2003. -
Dafa Practitioner Ms. Zhang Hong From Harbin City Dies as a Result of Torture at the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp (Photos)
2004-08-22Ms. Zhang Hong was 31 years old and had lived in Harbin City. On July 22, 2004 she was sent to the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp. While at the camp, Ms. Zhang Hong refused to cooperate with the evildoers in any way and refused to write the "Three Statements," which are specific documents denouncing Falun Gong and went on hunger strike. Inmates force-fed her and on July 31, four male guards carried Zhang Hong away on a stretcher and disinfected the whole room afterwards. Section head Zhao later said, "Ms. Zhang Hong has died from kidney failure as a result of heart disease." The truth is she died from barbaric torture. -
Tianjin City Women's Forced Labour Camp Exports Products Made by Slave Labour
2004-08-22Since the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Tianjin City Women's Forced Labour Camp has detained many Dafa practitioners. The camp has contracts with some bean vendors. Under the contracts, the camp is responsible for putting beans into individual bags weighing from 110 lbs. to 180 1bs. For each bag of beans, the camp earns 0.8 Yuan. Practitioners are forced to put beans in bags and carry them to a designated place. The working conditions are very poor. -
Jiang Xiaoying Suffers Mental Breakdown Following Relentless Torture at Forced Labour Camp in Jiangxi Province
2004-08-22Practitioner Jiang Xiaoying from Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province is around fifty years old. She was a doctor in the Jiujiang Mental Hospital. Due to long-term torture at Majialong Forced Labour Camp, she suffered a mental breakdown. In 2002, soon after she managed to escape from a Detention Centre, she was arrested again and sent to the Majialong Forced Labour Camp. When she was carried into the labour camp, she was unconscious. She could not recall what she had experienced, as she had been unconscious. It is suspected that the loss of memory resulted from severe beating. -
Dafa Practitioner Mr. Xie Zhaoming from Chongqing City Tortured to Death
2004-08-21Mr. Xie Zhaoming was a 50-year-old laid off worker from Chongqing City. Because he used his mobile phone to send text messages to people to clarify the truth of the persecution, he was flagged by the internet monitoring and targeted by the police for surveillance. In 2003, he was arrested and thrown into Jiangjin Detention Centre. On June 1, 2004, he was sentenced to five years in prison. Because he refused to renounce his belief in Falun Dafa, he was tortured to death by the authorities in the Detention Centre on July 28, 2004. -
Mr. Shang Baolin, a Farmer from Shandong Province, Collapses and Dies after Repeated High Pressure Tactics from the Local Authorities
2004-08-21At midnight on September 28, 2002, over ten policemen broke into Mr Shang Baolin's home and threatened him, trying to force him to tell them the whereabouts of his wife. They told him that if he refused, they would arrest him and beat him. Finally, under severe pressure he told the police his wife's location at her parents' house. On October 10, 2002, Shang Baolin collapsed suddenly and died. At age 39, he left this world with a frightened expression on his face. Now, his wife and his ten-year-old daughter are living a lonely and impoverished life. -
Authorities Torture Practitioners Using Electric Shocks and Beatings in Liaoning Province
2004-08-21In November 1999, police detained Dafa practitioners, who went to Beijing for an appeal, in a Detention Centre in Liaoning Province. Ms. Ma Xiuwen was electrically shocked with a generator and kicked till she bled after she was discovered practising the Falun Gong exercises. A group of Dafa practitioners went on a hunger strike to protest the brutal mistreatment she received. In retaliation, the County Police Department sent a large number of policemen to brutally torture the detained Dafa practitioners. -
Five Years of Persecuting Falun Gong Has Only Brought the Chinese Communist Party More Problems
2004-08-21On the 20th of July, 1999, under Chinese dictator Jiang Zemin's instruction, the Chinese Party (CCP) began to suppress Falun Gong publicly. At that time they thought that Falun Gong could be eradicated within one month. Contrary to their expectations, five full years have now passed. During this time, tens of thousands of people who practise Falun Gong have been sentenced to imprisonment and sent to forced labour camps where they were brutally tortured, and some have died as a result. However, those who practice Falun Gong have not yielded to the despotic power of the CCP. -
Mr Zhao Qiang of Shandong Province Suffers a Mental Collapse from Torture at a Psychiatric Hospital
2004-08-20In the autumn of 2001, Zhao visited a fellow practitioner's home and was arrested there. He was then forcefully sent to a mental hospital and deliberately injected with drugs that harmed his central nervous system. Two years later, at the time of his release, Zhao suffered from a mental disorder due to the torture. His consciousness was unclear, and he lost the ability to lead a normal life. All of this has brought tremendous pain and harm to Zhao and his family. -
How the Moganshan Female Forced Labour Camp in Zhejiang Province Cruelly Persecutes Falun Dafa Practitioners
2004-08-20Ms. Zhuo Ainu lives in Jinyun, Zhejiang Province and is about 48 years old. The first time she was detained, she was sentenced to one year of forced labour. The second time, she was sentenced to three years of forced labour. Because she is steadfast in Falun Dafa, she was tortured three times during her incarceration. The first time was during a very hot summer. She was placed in a cell and the perpetrators closed the door and windows and used thick black cloth to cover the windows. They turned on a hot 200-watt lamp in the cell and didn't allow Ms. Zhuo Ainu access to any water. -
Invading a Citizen's Privacy--National Security and Police Monitor Readers in Shanghai Library
2004-08-20In 2002 and 2003, I set out large amounts of Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials in the Shanghai Library. As a result, several police officers were sent to patrol the different reading rooms, which have since been closed. After hidden cameras were installed in the entrance lobby ceilings, the police set me up as their target. In February 2004, I went to renew my expired library card. When I came back, I found several police officers and library staff members waiting at the reading room door. -
Ms. Gao Rongrong, Disfigured by Electric Shock Torture, Is on the Brink of Death - Shenyang Officials Order "Don't Allow Her to Go Home Even If She Dies" (Photos)
2004-08-19Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Gao Rongrong's life is in danger. Her face was severely disfigured by electric baton torture in Shenyang City's Longshan Forced Labour Camp in May. Doctors expressed that her life is in danger, and has repeatedly issued Terminally Ill Notices, but Shenyang City's Judicial Bureau and the superior of Longshan Forced Labour Camp, refused to release her, and claimed that "If there is any danger, let the hospital treat her. Don't allow her to go home even if she dies."
