  • Many Practitioners Persecuted in Zhucheng City, Shandong Province--Two Still Missing

    On October 10th, 2008, Ms. Zhang Zelan, 53, was arrested by police who broke into her home without following due process, and stole her property. Ms. Zhang was later detained in Zhucheng Jail. On November 8th, the police said that she had been taken to Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp to serve eighteen months. When Ms. Zhang's husband went to the labour camp to see her and bring her some clothes, he was told that she was not there. Returning to the police department, he was told that Ms. Zhang was still in the jail. On January 20th, 2009, Ms. Zhang was taken by the police to Wangcun Women's Forced Labour Camp, where she had previously served three years back in November 2000.
  • The Beijing Dispatch Centre Moves Ms. Li Xiuqing to an Undisclosed Location

    On July 26th, 2008, dozens of police officers from the Tongzhou State Police Branch in Beijing intruded into Ms. Li Xiuqing's home. They arrested her and sentenced her to forced labour for two years on August 2nd. She was persecuted while detained at the Beijing Dispatch Centre in Daxing County. January 19th, 2009 was the date Ms. Li's family could come to visit her. Nevertheless, just before her husband and children were coming to see her, they received a phone call from someone who did not identify themselves, telling them that Ms. Li had already been transferred away. No further details of her whereabouts were given. Ms. Li's family suspect that she might have been sent to the labour camp in the Inner Mongolia region.
  • Village Woman Beaten to Death, Seven Killers Still at Large Three Years Later

    Ms. Li Xuemei was a village woman from Shandong Province. Simply because she practises Falun Gong, seven people beat her to death, incited by the local 610 Office. Three years later, the seven killers are still still at large. In order to force Ms. Li to give up her belief, the 610 Office used money and threats to instigate officials to trick Ms. Li into coming to Li Xingyi's home. They used several methods to torture her. They prevented her from sleeping and choked her. She was pushed down, and they used a rolling pin to roll her body. As result, Ms. Li died during the night of November 24th, 2005.
  • Ms. Yang Xiujie Tortured to Critical Condition in Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp, Camp Administration Deceived and Threatened Her Family

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Yang Xiujie was put into the Changchun City Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in 2008, where she was severely tortured. She is now in critical condition and could die at any time. Ms. Yang had frequent heart attacks in the labour camp. She was diagnosed with coronary heart disease and high blood pressure. According to labour camp regulations, she already qualifies for bail to seek medical treatment. The labour camp has denied the diagnosis and declined to reveal her condition. They lied to and threatened her family members and refused to release Ms. Yang.
  • Two Practitioners Die Under Persecution In Liaoning and Hubei Provinces

    Mr. Yang Yushan, 76, lived in the Retired Army Officer Home on the Zhuanshan Army Base in Dalian City. In nine years of persecution, Mr. Yang and his wife (also a practitioner) went to Beijing to appeal and explain that Falun Gong is a good practice. They were threatened and detained in the Dalian City Drug Rehabilitation Centre, the Yaojia Detention Centre, and the Dalian City Labour Camp. Their home was ransacked many times. Mr. Yang died on September 5th, 2008 as a result of both mental and physical injuries.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Jiang Deyuan

    On June 17th, 2008, police came to my home, saying someone had reported that I distributed flyers about Falun Gong. They took me to the police department. In the detention centre, I went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Twelve days passed. Qin Shijun, the chief of the detention centre, sent me to the county hospital for forced-feeding. The doctor could not insert the feeding tube even after he tried for some time. He said, "We can force feed her after cutting her trachea open." Qin Shijun did not agree. I lost consciousness after the doctor injected me with an unknown drug. When I woke up, my hands were handcuffed to the bed rail in the detention centre. Tubing had been inserted into my nose.
  • Persecution in Jincheng City, Shanxi Province

    New Year's Day 2009, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel in Jincheng City, Shanxi Province, started another round of persecution against Falun Gong practitioners. The Domestic Security Division, local police stations, local neighbourhood offices, and community CCP personnel and police officers broke into practitioners' homes, harassed and threatened them, took away their Falun Gong books, searched their computers and phone records, checked their Internet history, and demanded phone numbers. During this same time, practitioners were arrested and frequently sentenced.
  • 77-Year-Old Mr. Cao Changling Dies During the Olympics Under Suspicious Circumstances

    Mr. Cao Changling, 77, left home on his bike on August 8th, 2008, but never returned home. On August 10th, an official notified his family that Mr. Cao was in hospital and he'd had a stroke. He died on August 15th. Mr. Cao's family know the cause of death is questionable. If he fell down because of a stroke, why did the witnesses fear speaking the truth? The bruises on his body showed that he might have been beaten to death.
  • Disabled Practitioner Arrested a Third Time in Kunming City

    Ms. Guo Ling, 52, a practitioner from Kunming City, Yunnan Province, disappeared after leaving her mother's home on the morning of January 15th, 2009. After an unsuccessful search, her family learned that she had been arrested and was being held in the Wuhua Detention Centre in Kunming. This is the third time that Ms. Guo has been detained in the past few years. Previously, Ms. Guo was persecuted severely in prison. Despite the severe disability in her legs, they forced her to walk several miles each day to perform forced labour.
  • Lieutenant-Commander Suffers Eight Years of Imprisonment, Family Demands Release

    In 2001, former Lieutenant-Commander Mr. Wang Youjiang from the Communications Department of Lanzhou City's Military District, Gansu Province, was sentenced to ten years in prison for his belief and for exercising his freedom of speech. He has been imprisoned in Dashaping Prison in Lanzhou City. To date, it has been eight years. Throughout this time, he has been severely tortured. Now he is extremely weak and his family members are demanding his release. In August 2008, Dashaping Prison persecuted many Falun Gong practitioners, using security for the Olympics as an excuse. Twice Mr. Wang was kept in a small cell for 15 days. For more than six months, his family members were also prohibited from seeing him.
  • Mr. Ma Guobiao and His Parents Sentenced in Secret Trial

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Ma Guobiao, 36, and his parents were detained at the Jiading District Detention Centre for eleven months, because he played a Falun Gong DVD to people. On January 12th, 2009, Mr. Ma was sentenced to six years in prison during a secret court trial held in Shanghai. His mother, Ms. Jin Runfang, received a 4-year sentence and his father, Mr. Ma Dongquan, received a 3-year sentence with a 4-year suspended term.
  • My Experiences in the Haikou Brainwashing Centre, Hainan Province

    My name is Huang Yanqing. On the afternoon of June 25th, 2008, I was abducted by two policemen who forced me into a squad car and then took me to the Haikou Brainwashing Centre in Haikou City, Hainan Province. There I met the collaborators that I had known when I was in the forced labour camp the first time. They said that they had been looking for me for many years. The place was very dark and gloomy. They badmouthed Falun Gong, and my practising Falun Gong. I was handcuffed to the window in the toilet overnight many times. The worst thing was that after 10:00 p.m. when I got tired, they would beat me as soon as I closed my eyes to stop me from falling asleep.
  • Ms. Chen Lirong Suffers Brutal Persecution in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    40-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Chen Lirong is currently suffering brutal persecution in the notorious Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. When her family visited Ms. Chen recently, they noticed her hands and arms were covered with scars, and they asked her what had happened. She told them that because she would not give up her belief, the guards tied her hands and hung her up, with her feet barely touching the floor. She was suspended like that for over 13 hours. The scars on her hands were caused by the rope.
  • Ms. Zhang Qiuyun Sentenced to Five Years in Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Zhang Qiuyun was arrested six months ago. The Taocheng District Court of Hengshui City, Hebei Province sentenced her to five years in prison on January 20th, 2009. Zhang Qiuyun's family believes she is innocent, and is appealing for her. On July 20th, 2008 several police used the excuse of checking residence cards to break into Zhang Qiuyun's home. They confiscated all of her personal belongings. The policemen, claiming that they had been following her for seventeen days, took her to the station and tortured her on a "tiger bench".
  • Police from Yushu City, Jilin Province Arrest and Fine Falun Gong Practitioners

    In late 2008, the Police Department of Yushu City, Jilin Province reorganized their mid-level police system, appointing new police chiefs accordingly. They also issued arrest quotas to subordinate police stations. In order to fulfil the quotas, police stations and the National Security Group have been arresting and fining Falun Gong practitioners. In January police ransacked the home of Falun Gong practitioner Zheng Lijia. Police officer Qi Li slapped Mr. Zheng in the face, kicked him, confiscated his Falun Gong books, then detained Mr. Zheng at the National Security Group. They informed the victim's family that he would not be released until they paid a fine.
