They put heavy handcuffs and shackles on her, with her hands and feet locked together so that she was unable to sit, stand, or lie down. Also, her 3,000 Yuan RMB in cash (equivalent to 6 months of income for an average Chinese worker), cell phone, and pager were all seized. Then she was sent to No. 2 Division of the Changchun City Police Department where she endured brutal beatings. -

2001-11-04The "Work and Rest Schedule" in that labor camp is only a facade, used to show inspectors or visitors from the outside. 2001-11-04The guards are well fed, but practitioners can only eat bread made with very crude flours. Sometimes the bread had already molded. The food for practitioners is extremely bad and lacks nutrition; sometimes it is even rotten. The result of eating this kind of food is that the practitioners suffer from severe malnutrition. The guards also cheat their superiors when they come to check: they have the cooks prepare some good food, and tell them to lie about feeding practitioners the good food, with vegetables and meat in every meal. Sometimes the guards bring some watermelons and tomatoes and sell them to practitioners at very high prices. Moreover, the vegetables that practitioners grow themselves are sold to them at very high prices. -

2001-11-04And what is the ultimate objective of all this torture and humiliation? It is all to extract a signature on a "guarantee" letter saying that the signer will not practice Falun Gong again. Sign the letter and you can be released with no injuries and go home. Refuse and you will likely lose your job, lose your home, be separated from your family, be held in prison, and be tortured, to death if necessary. Why such a glaring difference in outcome between signing and not signing? It seems like such a ridiculous effort for such a small thing. But it is because the piece of paper represents something much more. For the current Chinese regime, as with all totalitarian regimes, victory lies in crushing the human will so one will blindly follow the wishes of the Party or the leader. No one should have to renounce their faith to regain their freedom. -

2001-11-04A former vice-principal of the No. 1 Elementary School of Lingwu City, Ningxia Province, Lu Hongfeng, thirty seven years old, was sent to the local mental hospital against her will since she insisted on speaking the truth about Falun Gong. She passed away on September 6, 2000 after being severely tortured through forcible high dose injections of powerful drugs used on mentally ill patients. Lu Hongfeng was completely mentally healthy. -

2001-11-03During a late night, while I was being punished to bend over, brainwashed practitioner Yang Lin and Yue Shuaimo (released by now) both forced me down by pressing on my back. My legs ached so much as if they were broken. Sweat rolled down my head. There were also other practitioners being punished in the same room. The brainwashed practitioners kept a close watch on me and on other practitioners, and would hit us if there were any slight changes in our squat positions. The punishment usually lasted from day to night, and proceeded to the morning after. Night after night we were not allowed to sleep. -

This relative immediately refuted this by saying, "Who actually lacks consideration for the family? You have tapped our phone calls and searched for them at home, time and again. How could they call back or come back home? If they came back, wouldn't that offer you the chance to take them away? You keep saying that what you are doing is for their benefit. Is this the way you treat them for their own good?" The police, unable to find any words to defend themselves, left in anger. -
