  • After Years in Prisons and Labour Camps, Ms. Mo Huiping Is Once Again Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Mo Huiping, 37, from Yinchuan City in Ningxia Autonomous Region was arrested in Wuzhong City. We have learned that Ms. Mo was targeted by the authorities for further persecution. This is the third time she has been severely persecuted. Ms. Luo Xinping was forced to pay two thousand yuan before she was released.
  • Trumped Up Charges and Fabricated Evidence--Baoding Police and Court System Conspire to Persecute Falun Gong Practitioners

    Recently the South District Court of Baoding City notified the family of Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Wang Jinfeng, Ms. Wang Manhong and Mr. Song Guobin that the trial against them would begin within ten days. Before this, the Procuratorate of the South District had trumped up charges and fabricated evidence three times. The police said they were arrested because the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) 18th Congress would open soon, and they would be released when it is over.
  • Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp in 2012

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Xu Lan was incarcerated in Judong Women's Forced Labour Camp and forced to stand for prolonged periods of time daily. After she got up in the morning, she and the inmates assigned to monitor her went to the so-called “counselling room,” where she would be forced to stand till 2 or 3 a.m. the next day. This torture continued for several months. Ms. Xu was given very little food, and her requests for more food were repeatedly rejected by the guards. Ms. Xu was only allowed to sleep just over two hours a day. She was also forced to watch videos that slander Falun Gong.
  • Mr. Hong Chang Repeatedly Tortured in Zhejiang Province No. 4 Prison

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Hong Chang from Hangzhou City started practising in April 1998, and has been repeatedly persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) because he refused to renounce his faith. He was sent to Zhejiang Province No. 4 Prison, where he was tortured and nearly died. He recounts: "The guards employed many torture methods to abuse me, including lifting me up by my arms and running me around in circles before suddenly stopping, which caused me to dizzily fall over. They lifted me up by clamping my ears and swaying me back and forth, holding me on the ground and scribbling on my face with a marker and holding my heels from the back and forcing me to crawl on my hands, which also evoked their laughter."
  • Ms. Chen Haibin Suffers from Stroke; Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Refuses to Release Her

    Ms. Chen Haibin is a Falun Gong practitioner from Dalian City, Liaoning Province. She was arrested in Xinghai Park by officers Ma Jun and Zhang from the Kunming Police Station on June 6th, 2012. Several weeks later, on June 25th, she was sent to the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp to serve an 18-month term. Ms. Chen now appears to have suffered a stroke. When her husband and son saw her on June 18th, 2013, she had a black eye, walked slowly and complained of leg pain, which she did not have before.
  • Elderly Mr. Wang Hongbo Beaten during Arrest

    Mr. Wang Hongbo, a Falun Gong practitioner from Yueyang City, is in his 70s. He was arrested on July 6th, 2013, and beaten by local officials and police. They also ransacked his home. The police took away Mr. Wang's house keys, slapped him and attempted to cover his mouth. Mr. Wang's right leg was injured and bleeding. They detained Mr. Wang at the local police station and interrogated him until 1 p.m. the following day. He did not answer any of their questions.
  • Ms. Li Huijuan Suffers Mental Collapse from Torture at Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp

    In the past 14 years, the Chinese government has used various torture methods in an attempt to make Falun Gong practitioners give up their belief. One of the methods has been to add toxic chemicals to their food, causing many practitioners to become physically and mentally disabled, and some even died from the poisoning. Once a lively person, Ms. Li Huijuan is one of the victims. She became mentally disabled while she was imprisoned at the Baimalong Women's Forced Labour Camp three years ago, and she has not yet recovered.
  • The Torture I Endured in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

    I was arrested and subjected to forced labour three times from 2000 to 2009. Each time I was detained in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. In 2000, I was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp for the first time. In order to “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners, the most vicious methods of torture were used. For newcomers, the guards first play propaganda videos full of lies that slandered Falun Gong. If that didn't work, the torture started: beatings, verbal abuse, electric shock, solitary confinement, handcuffing, and term extensions--all to make them give up their belief.
  • Ms. Liang Xiaoguang Dies in Siping Detention Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liang Xiaoguang was arrested and sentenced to prison six years ago. On November 23rd, 2012, her family suddenly received a notification from Siping Detention Centre in Liaoning Province, claiming that she had died from “lung cancer” and her body had already been taken to the crematory. Ms. Liang had been sentenced to forced labour twice before. The first time, she was taken to Heizuizi Labour Camp in 2000 until 2002. The second time, she was arrested while distributing materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong in 2006, and was later taken to the same labour camp until 2008.
  • Cruelty, Torture and "Transformation" in the Fifth Division of Shanghai Women's Prison

    After the persecution of Falun Gong began in July 1999, Shanghai Women's Prison became known as a hell on earth for women who refused to renounce their belief in Falun Gong. The inmates were trained to monitor and “transform” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] practitioners. They tortured practitioners using various means, including sleep deprivation, beatings, prohibiting the practitioners from taking showers, taking breaks, using the toilet. They forced practitioners to watch videos that defamed Falun Gong, and pressured them to write all kinds of guarantee statements to renounce Falun Gong.
  • Luo Dongsheng Brutally Tortured in Detention

    After the persecution began in 1999, Mr. Luo Dongsheng used different ways to inform people that were deceived by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) about the truth of Falun Gong. Because of this, he was severely persecuted in 2011 in detention centres. Mr. Luo began a hunger strike to protest the brutal treatment in the detention centre and was force-fed. Four inmates pushed him down, while a guard grabbed Mr. Luo's hair and pulled his head back. One inmate pinched his nose closed, so that when Mr. Luo had to breathe, they could force food into his mouth. He almost choked to death. Mr. Luo was tied to the torture device "tiger bench" with his feet shackled with a 15-kg weight. Mr. Luo was tied to the tiger bench for over 10 days, until he promised that he would not go on a hunger strike. When he was finally let down, his legs were severely swollen and he almost collapsed.
  • Zhai Hui, Senior Technician from Shenyang City, Barely Alive Due to Persecution

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhai Hui was arrested in April 2012. At the end of 2012, he was sentenced to four years. As a result of abuse in detention, Mr. Zhai is now near death. On June 20th he was urgently transferred to Hunnan Hospital. Mr. Zhai has been persecuted to the point that he is now very weak and barely able to walk. He doesn't have enough strength to sit up straight, and talking even a little exhausts him. He had a fever and diarrhoea. He has become emaciated. Despite his condition, he was still handcuffed to the bed.
  • Innocent Woman in Seventies Incarcerated for 18 Months at Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp

    Ms. Cao Yuzhen, in her 70s, was subjected to forced labour for 18 months for practising Falun Gong. She was taken to the Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun in August 2011. Ms. Cao had suffered from heart problems prior to practising Falun Gong but her illnesses disappeared shortly afterwards starting Falun Gong. In the labour camp guards slapped her in the face, beat her and shocked her with an electric baton to try to force Ms. Cao to renounce her belief.
  • Dead Falun Gong Practitioners Sent to Hospitals as Police Attempt to Cover Up Crimes

    Mr. Li Jian, an attorney from Zhengyang County, died in 2002 after enduring many months of torture, sleep deprivation, and slave labour in the Xuchang Forced Labour Camp. On April 26th, 2002, he experienced trouble breathing. He died two hours later. The guards took his lifeless body to a hospital that day. They ordered the hospital to perform standard resuscitation procedures, in order to fabricate evidence that Mr. Li had died at the hospital.
  • Mr. Yang Zhonggeng Tortured to Death in Henan Province

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Yang Zhonggeng, 38, was arrested by police at a post office on June 23rd, 2013. Mr. Yang was beaten and tortured while in police custody until he was on the verge of death. He was then transferred to the Lingbao Detention Centre. He passed away on June 28th, just five days after the arrest. Mr. Yang had also been arrested for his belief in Falun Gong in December 2000 in Rushan City. He suffered inhumane torture—including being shocked with high-voltage electric batons and injected with unknown drugs—while in police custody and detention.
