Around 10:00 a.m. on April 14, 2002, I was on the way to my child's school with textbooks, clothing, and food I had prepared for my child. Suddenly two people emerged along the roadside and stopped me. They asked, "What's your name? Do you have an ID?" I told them that my ID was in the local police substation. They said, "Then come with us." They forcibly dragged me into their vehicle without showing any ID certificate or telling me who they were. They brought me to the Datong Public Security Bureau. Without any interrogation, they put me into the Datong Detention Centre. The next day, I was transferred to the Daqing Detention Centre. I was detained there for 72 days for no reason.

I went on a hunger and water strike to protest the illegal detention. During the strike, I was still requested to be on duty for building surveillance for 1 or 2 hours every night. The police guard, Han Xiufang, frequently beat, abused, and force-fed me. After the force-feeding, I wasn't allowed to go to the washroom to vomit, even though I spat up blood. After each force-feeding, I suffered from loose bowels and kept throwing up. I have no idea what kind of medicine they forced me to take, but it made me vomit green water. Every time they force-fed me, a prisoner would drag one of my legs back and forth on the floor where they intentionally poured water in advance. Right after I was abducted, the police searched my body and took away my house keys. They searched my home for no reason. They are no different from lawless, out-of-control ruffians. This is the image of the people's police under the control of Jiang Zemin.
