On August 6th, 2002, Russian InfoNews published a report entitled, “The Domain of Chinese Sovereignty Is on the Other Side of the Wall, not on This Side of Demonstrators.” The following is the translated version of the report:

On August 5th, Russian Falun Gong practitioners (Falun Gong is also called Falun Dafa) demonstrated outside the Chinese Embassy, expressing their extreme dissatisfaction with the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners by the Chinese government.

According to one Russian practitioner, “This demonstration has nothing to do with politics. We come to the Chinese Embassy to make the Chinese government know that their suppression of Falun Gong goes against compassion and forbearance, is opposed to humanitarianism, and is absolutely without human nature.”

The purpose of this demonstration is to call on China to stop its suppression of Falun Gong. Intimidated by the increasing number of people who practiced Falun Gong, the Chinese (Jiang’s) government started to suppress Falun Gong in 1999. The founder of Falun Gong, Mr. Li Hongzhi, was forced to leave China for America. [Note: The information here is not correct. Mr. Li Hongzhi settled down in America before that time.] In 1999, China initiated a comprehensive, vicious suppression of, and slanderous attacks on, Falun Gong. Based on the official report of China, the suppression caused the deaths of 162 people, but according to the Falun Gong followers, over 400 people died. From 1992 on, Falun Dafa has spread very fast across the world. Now there are about one hundred million people around the world practicing Falun Gong. Only in Moscow there are hundreds of Falun Gong practitioners.

Falun Gong followers brought yellow banners on which were written the words in Chinese and Russian, “Please Don’t Spread Deceitful Lies about Falun Gong,” “Falun Gong---Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance,” and “Stop the Persecution of Falun Gong in China.”

Some of the Falun Gong followers handed out fliers to the passers-by, introducing Falun Gong to them. The others were practising exercises that enabled them to absorb energy from the universe and sending forth righteous thoughts. The Falun Gong practitioner explained, “Through sending forth righteous thoughts, Falun Gong practitioners obtain perfect harmony and clean out their own bodies as well as the space-field around them.”

At the same time, they played one Chinese song several times. According to the Russian practitioner, the elegant song was created by a practitioner in China. The song was not an ode of some religion, but just a song in praise of Falun Gong.

The staff in the Chinese Embassy made no response to the demonstration. Waleili Nicolaski, representative of the human rights organization, “Promote Social Freedoms and Friendliness,” joined in the demonstration. He commented, “As soon as they found Chinese Falun Gong practitioners, the Chinese officials would send them back to China where the practitioners would be subjected to the most brutal torture. That’s why the Chinese officials prefer to pretend not to see the Falun Gong practitioners. In the previous demonstration, at the entrance to the embassy, one Chinese official walked toward a police officer in charge of security, asking him to stop the demonstration as soon as possible. The police officer replied, ‘The Domain of Chinese Sovereignty Is on the Other Side of the Wall, not on This Side of Demonstrators.’
