As a citizen of the world, we appeal to you to express your concerns about the unprecedented so-called trial of peaceful Falun Gong practitioners, presently proceeding in Hong Kong. Falun Gong is a legal and registered organization in Hong Kong. However, recently the officials in Hong Kong have gradually submitted to the orders from Beijing, and started to interfere in the rights of Falun Gong to hold peaceful appeals in Hong Kong. Falun Gong practitioners are all good people. The activities Falun Gong practitioners hold all over the world are peaceful. The officials of the nations, wherever the activities are held, all think that the appeals of Falun Gong practitioners are the model of goodness and order.

To put it briefly, 12 Chinese Hong Kong and 4 Swiss practitioners were sued for allegedly blocking the road and attacking the policemen. However, judging from the actual videos recorded, the pictures, and the evidence presented in the court, it is certain that the appeal of Falun Gong practitioners was small, orderly, calm, and peaceful. In the video recorded live, we can precisely see the unreasonable behaviour of the policemen, which ignored human rights. On that day, the policemen went to the peaceful site where the Falun Gong practitioners where. They immediately blocked the whole area with barriers, parked police cars, used loudspeakers, held the press conference at once, and blockaded the entrances of the whole building. The policemen captured the practitioners with force and violence, including grapping their throats, pushing acupuncture points behind the ears with force, etc. In addition, they also did not arrange for a proper translator for the four Swiss practitioners.

Falun Gong practitioners follow the principles of Truthfulness, Benevolence, and Forbearance in their daily lives. Their behaviour is kind and benevolent, they look for the improvement of themselves, and learn to achieve the aim of considering others first. In these last three years, Falun Gong has been repressed and harmed in an evil manner by the Chinese president. However, the practitioners never resist with force. They insist on appealing with dignity for a stop to the persecution in a peaceful manner. The heart of benevolence they insist on upholding has moved millions of people.

The trial now proceeding has in fact been a sham from the beginning. The trial itself is based on political reasons. It is a demonstration of a political trial out of political motives. The result of this case will influence the future direction of the democracy and freedom in Hong Kong as a whole. The freedom of belief, speech, and to public gathering of citizens in Hong Kong will all be endangered.

For the glorious future of Hong Kong, it is not only a great chance to stand up for protecting freedom and justice, but also an opportunity to ask the government of Hong Kong to persist in the policy of “one nation with two political systems.” If you can express the great concerns of the international community about the way Hong Kong is dealing with this case to the government and the jurisdiction of Hong Kong, and the Swiss Embassy, we would feel immense gratitude to you. Your standing up for it is crucial, and would completely reverse the situation.
