Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Zhang Xiaoling and Ms. Zhang Yueqi were arrested by officers from Huangpu District Police Station in Guangzhou on the afternoon of August 3rd, 2011. The older sister, Zhang Xiaoling, was sentenced to two years in Chatou Forced Labour Camp and the younger sister, Zhang Yueqi, was sentenced to one year in the same camp. Zhang Yueqi is only 16 years old. Their mother has not been allowed to visit them.

Ms. Zhang Liling, who requested the release of both sisters, was also arrested

Zhang Xiaoling and Zhang Yueqi were arrested on the afternoon of August 3rd. The next day, Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Liling went to the police station, requesting the release of both sisters, but she ended up being arrested, too. The police released her after they ransacked her home.

After Ms. Zhang Liling was released, she again went to the police station and asked to visit he sisters. She was told to come back on August 5th. On the morning of August 5th, she went to the police station again but was still not allowed to visit them. She was told to come back around 3 p.m. She went back to the police station at 3 p.m. After waiting for hours, she was finally allowed to see only Zhang Yueqi. Zhang Yueqi told her that she was beaten during the interrogation.

Their mother, who came from Shantou City, was not allowed to visit them

On August 16th, the sisters' mother, Zhang Xiaoling, and two other friends arrived at Dasha Police Station in Huangpu to request the release of the sisters. The chief of the police station told them that the sisters were not there anymore. More than 10 policemen from Domestic Security Team suddenly showed up to arrest them. The visitors left the police station right away and returned home.

On August 28th, three officers from Guangzhou Police Station and the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) arrived at Zhang Xiaoling's home. One of the police officers with the last name Xu was in charge of criminal investigations. He lied to the girls' mother, saying that, since school was going to start, the police would like to release the younger sister so she could attend school, and that the release of the older sister would follow. To aid such a release, the mother signed an unidentified document. However, neither of the sisters was released.

Their mother went to Dasha Police Station in Huangpu again on September 26th. The deputy chief of the station, Lu Yingpeng, told them that the sisters had been sentenced to forced labour on September 2nd. He also wanted the mother to sign some document. This time, she did not listen to their lies anymore and refused to sign anything. She criticised them loudly, saying, “What law did they break? No one in our family was informed of their sentences. My younger daughter is only 16 years old. She is a good student in school and ready to attend high school in September. Who is depriving her of her right to go to high school?”

Chatou Forced Labour Camp would not let Ms. Zhang Xiaoling or Ms. Zhang Yueqi have visitors
The mother and three friends arrived at Dasha Police Station on the afternoon of October 1st to visit Zhang Xialing and Zhang Yueqi. They also turned in an appeal to the policeman on duty. The policeman told them that they should go to Chatou Forced Labour Camp to request a meeting.

They went to Chatou Forced Labour Camp on October 2nd. An official at the camp told them that they had to wait until October 11th.

They went back to the camp on October 11th. Two members of the camp staff (police ID numbers 4422103 and 4422262) told them that the director of the labour camp would not allow the sisters to have visitors. The mother kept asking for the name of the director, but the staff members would not give her a reply.

After that, they went to the Provincial Police Department to request a visit. The worker there took them to the Provincial Petition Office to fill out an application. The Provincial Petition Office told them that they would investigate the case as soon as possible.
