Mr. Zhao Ziliang and Ms. Liu Yanmei of Puwang Township, Yinan County, Shandong Province, were arrested by agents from the Yinan County 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Puwang Township Police on September 8th. Mr. Zhao was taken to the Linyi City Brainwashing Centre. Ms. Liu’s whereabouts are unknown.

Mr. Zhao is in his 60s and lives in Dougou Village, Puwang Township. After he began practising Falun Gong, his health improved, he became more considerate of others, and his family relationships improved.
At about 2 p.m. on September 8th, seven or eight officers from the Yinan County 610 Office and the Puwang Township Police Station entered his home and ransacked it. They arrested Mr. Zhao and took him to the Linyi City Brainwashing Centre.

On the same day, officers from the same agencies also arrested Ms. Liu Yanmei, in her 50s, a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in Daliudugou Village, Puwang Township. Her home was also ransacked. The police seized her personal belongings, including Falun Gong books, two computers, three printers, a DVD writer, paper stock, DVDs, an LED TV set with EVD player, and other items. Ms. Liu's current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Liu had poor health since childhood. She suffered from emphysema, often experienced excruciating pain, and was frequently hospitalised. When she was about 38 years old, a practitioner lent her a Falun Gong book. Because she was too sick to read at the time, her husband read it to her. After a month of practising Falun Gong, she regained her ability to walk unassisted, and in three months she recovered completely.

Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute Falun Gong on July 20th, 1999, Ms. Liu has been arrested multiple times for not giving up the practice. To force her to “transform,” [forcibly renounce Falun Gong] CCP agents had arrested her twice before and held her in a forced labour camp.
While in detention following the first arrest, she was savagely beaten, tortured, and suffered a concussion. As a result, her mental faculties were damaged for six months, and she could not take care of her daily needs. Following the second arrest, she was detained beyond the end of her term and held for a total of more than three years.
