Several other Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on the same day. At 10:00 p.m. that day, officers from the Yingkou City Public Security Bureau and Bayuquan Domestic Security Brigade broke into Mr. Dong Bing's house in Bayuquan, Yingkou, and arrested Mr. Dong, his father, and younger brother Dong Xin (not a practitioner). Sentenced to Imprisonment after Three Court Trials
On March 23rd, 2010, the Bayuquan Court tried the seven practitioners, including Ms. Sun, for the first time. The practitioners' family hired lawyers to defend them and pleaded not guilty.
The Court tried the practitioners for the second time at 9:00 a.m. on June 1st, 2010. The Court didn't notify their lawyers about the trial and hence no one defended the practitioners. The practitioners had to defend themselves. In court Ms. Yu Zhihong described how she was tortured by the police. Ms. Sun was very weak and she sat on a chair the whole time.
On July 28th, the Court tried the practitioners for the third time. This time neither the practitioners nor their lawyers were notified before the trial. Ms. Sun refused to appear in court because she saw that her family and lawyer were not there. The court officer beat her and tied her hands and legs to a pole. Mr. Dong and Mr. Bi were sentenced to seven years of imprisonment, Mr. Shen and Ms. Sun received a five-year prison term, Ms. Yu received three and half years of imprisonment, Mr. Wang Zhiyuan received one and half years, and Ms. Teng received three years imprisonment with five years probation. She was released on August 12th.
Appeals Denied by the Court, Ms. Sun Goes Missing in Prison
The seven practitioners decided to appeal to the Yingkou Intermediate Court. Their appeal was denied and their sentences upheld.
Mr. Bi, Mr. Dong and Mr. Shen were taken to Dalian and locked up in the Dalian City Prison (address: 300, Taogong Street). Mr. Wang was locked up in the Bayuquan Detention Centre. Ms. Sun and Ms. Yu were sent to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison. Ms. Sun refused to be put in a prison and refused to get out of the car. She was taken back to the Yingkou Detention Centre and put in handcuffs and shackles.
On December 20th, Ms. Sun's family went to the Liaoning Province Women's Prison to visit her. They were told that there was no such person. On December 23rd, when her family went to the Yingkou Detention Centre to ask her whereabouts, they were told that Ms. Sun was sent to the Liaoning Women's Prison. The family still does not know Ms. Sun's current whereabouts.
