In mid-December 2010, officers from the Qinglong Police Department, the Qinglong 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and the Qinglong Domestic Security Team arrested ten Falun Gong practitioners. They were detained in the Qinglong Detention Centre. Reports indicate that seven of the practitioners were sent to a forced labour camp and three were released.

Practitioners Ms. Guo Kunlan, Ms. Chen Lixin, Ms. Zhang Liying, Ms. Shao Wenhui, Ms. Shao Zhiqin, and Ms. Xie Xiaoying were sent to the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp in Tangshan City, Hebei Province on December 21st. Mr. Yang Zhiwen was sent to the Xi Zhangzhuang Forced Labour Camp. The practitioners were all very weak and had not eaten for many days. To date, their families have not received any information about the sentences.

Reports indicate that these practitioners became very weak because they went on a hunger strike to protest the persecution. Officials from the Kaiping Forced Labour Camp did not want bear the responsibility of detaining practitioners in such condition and refused to accept them. The labour camp later accepted the practitioners after receiving bribes from the Qinglong Police Department and the 610 Office.

Ms. Liu Weijun fainted as the police tried to arrest the practitioners. She was sent to a hospital for treatment. Her husband Liu Weijun has been taking care of her in the hospital. The couple has since been released. Ms. Xiao Yaqin, who was detained in the Qinglong Detention Centre, has also been released.
