Taiwan: Falun Gong Group Wins Taipei Landscaping Competition

The Taipei Landscaping Competition, co-sponsored by the Taipei City Government and the Seven Star Agriculture Development Foundation, was held on September 4th, 2010 in Taipei Riverside Park. Thirty groups participated in the competition. The entry by the Falun Gong group, entitled "Commending Flower," won the championship.

Introducing the design concept for "Commending Flower"

The management office of the Park and Street Works in Taipei City Government stated that the annual landscaping competition in Taipei was very welcomed, and that the participating entries were of high calibre. The judging committee thought it over and over to select the best. The champion group was composed of five plumbers who enjoy gardening. They set up flower shelves using PVC pipes and added flowers to make the "Commending Flower."

After the competition, all the landscape works will be on display for one month in the park for public viewing.

Mr. Wu Lai-fu, spokesperson of the winning group, said, "The 'Commending Flower' was designed to echo the Taipei flower expo and to call for conscience. People should be mutually trusting and understanding. People should treat things kindly and use them efficiently."
