Exposing the Evil in the No.2 Women's Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province

I was sent to the No.2 Women's Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province twice and was persecuted there. I have witnessed and personally experienced how the policemen "transform1" and torture Falun Gong practitioners. The labour camp is full of lies, cheating and evil.

The No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province was located at Wangcun, Zibo City. It moved from Zibo No. 4 Subdivision in August 2001 and was then renamed the No.2 Women's Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province. Since October 2000, the labour camp has detained Falun Gong practitioners from all over Shandong Province. During 2001 and 2003, the number of practitioners detained in the labour camp was over 1,000. The detained Falun Gong practitioners have no freedom. The policemen strictly monitor Falun Gong practitioners, and prohibit them from communicating and talking to each other. They also attempt to brainwash the practitioners and force them to do labour. Falun Gong practitioners endure severe torture, physically and mentally, on a non-stop basis.

After Falun Gong practitioners are detained at the labour camp, the first thing the policemen do is the so-called "transformation." They force the practitioners to write the so-called three statements2. They first separate Falun Gong practitioners, prevent them from contacting anybody, and send two former practitioners to monitor them, whose purpose it is to attempt to force practitioners to renounce Falun Gong. If the practitioners refuse to be "transformed," they prevent them from sleeping, and make them stand facing the wall for physical punishment. I was tortured in that manner, was not allowed to sit for 24 hours a day, and even had to stand while eating. My legs became numb and my feet became very swollen. While I was standing, the policemen and the practitioner who had renounced Falun Gong attacked me, torturing me physically and mentally. When I was detained the first time, I was shackled on my back for a couple of days, and my arms were swollen quite large and were numb. Falun Gong practitioners are considered "transformed" when they are unable to endure the cruel persecution and compromise their belief in Falun Gong against their wills. This is the so-called "good influence of education" by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP): "influence, educate and save."

The labour term for Falun Gong practitioners is from one to three years. Policemen will extend the term for those practitioners who do not cooperate. In July 2007, 13 practitioners' terms were extended because they refused to be "transformed."

For those practitioners who were forced into being "transformed," writing the three statements is just the beginning. They are then forced to do hard labour and write reports to the policemen regularly. They are often forced to join the so-called "study" of slandering Falun Gong to reinforce giving up their belief in Falun Gong. This is a very cruel mental persecution. The fact-distorted and slander and attacks against Falun Gong are indeed immense torture for those Falun Gong practitioners who benefited from Falun Gong.

There are nearly 100 policemen employed in the No. 2 Women's Forced Labour Camp of Shandong Province. The monthly salaries alone approach tens of thousands of yuan3. In 2005, the labour camp freely spent five million yuan of the people's money to rebuild the prison building, brainwashing building and forced labour building.

Note

1. "Reform or Transform" Implementation of brainwashing and torture in order to force a practitioner to renounce Falun Gong. (Variations: "reform", "transform", "reformed", "reforming", "transformed", "transforming", and "transformation")

2. "Three Statements": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write "Repentance Statement," "Guarantee Statement" or 'Dissociation Statement" as proof that they have given up their belief. In the statement, the practitioner is forced to admit remorse for practising Falun Gong, promise to give up Falun Gong, and never again associate with other practitioners or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.

3. "Yuan" is the Chinese currency; 500 yuan is equal to the average monthly income of an urban worker in China.
