On the evening of May 26th, 2008, a group of policemen from the Domestic Security Division of Jianghan District in Wuhan City barged into the residence of Ms. Gu Yuelian. The policemen involved were: Hu Jiaxiang, Yan Chunming, Wang Kaixiang of Guanduan Household, Community Director Li, Party secretary Xie, and personnel from the residence community of Jiashu Office and other Chinese Communist Party (CCP) personnel. They were using the excuse of "cleaning up" for the Olympics Torch Relay as the reason to arrest her, but Ms. Gu managed to find a chance to escape and got away.

Because they could not catch Ms. Gu, the police waited in ambush on the stairway of the dormitory of the No. 3 Postal Company on May 28th. That night around 10:20 p.m., they arrested her daughter, Ms. Qiu Xueming, in order to hold her as a hostage.

The husband and relatives of Ms. Gu Yuelian have gone to Yan Chunming (who is from the Domestic Security Division) on numerous occasions to request the unconditional release of Qiu Xueming, but Yan Chunming's response is, "Your daughter is in my hands. To get her released, Gu Yuelian must come here in person and negotiate with me." Gu Yuelian's husband has thus far not been allowed to see their daughter.

Persons involved:

Hu Jiaxiang and Yan Chunming from the Domestic Security Division: 86-13517267208 (Mobile)
Wang Kaixiang of Guanduan household
