Seven Female Practitioners Arrested by Police in Wei County, Hebei Province in June 2008

Three Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on June 22nd and 27th, 2008 by officers from the Yali Town Police Station in Wei County, Hebei Province. The police broke into the homes of two women from Pu Village, Ms. Zhao Qingshe, age 52 and Ms. Li Xiujun, age 60. They also invaded the home of Ms. Rong Yunqing, a 44 year-old farmer from Yabei Village in Yali Town. The police beat these three practitioners prior to the arrests, and they are currently detained at the Wei County Detention Centre.

On June 24th-25th, 2008, officers from the Wei Town Police Station in Wei County broke into the homes of two Falun Gong practitioners in Dingshang Village. Sini, aged 40 and Ms. Zhang Gaixiang, aged 59, were arrested and are currently detained in the Wei County Detention Centre.

In the early morning hours of June 14th, 2008, officers from the Yuanbao Police Station broke into the homes of practitioners in Donglaizhuang Village, Yuanbao Township. An search of the homes of Ms. Zhang Kexiang, age 60, and Ms. Guo Ruiyun, about 40 years old, was conducted by police. The two practitioners were subsequently detained in the Wei County Detention Centre.

Wang Fuzhong (mobile phone 86-13603307039) is currently the deputy chief of the Wei County Police Bureau and superintendent of the Wei Town Police Station. When the persecution of Falun Gong began on July 20th, 1999, Wang Fuzhong was the superintendent of police in Yali Town. He arrested many practitioners, sentencing them to forced labour. He used blackmail against practitioners and ransacked their homes. In 2007, Wang Fuzhong was responsible for the arrests of many Falun Gong practitioners in Wei Town, and two of them were sentenced to forced labour. In June of 2008, he arrested two additional practitioners, who are currently detained in the Wei County Detention Centre.
