Wang Xing, a teacher from the Communist Party School, the Kunming Railway Bureau in Yunnan Province, jumped through the train window to escape persecution but died during the fall. This happened while he was being escorted back to Kunming City after having gone to Beijing to appeal in 2000.

Zeng Shaolan, a retired worker of the Yunnan Province No. 3 Construction Company, died on August 6, 2002 after being arrested.

Mr. Wang Xing, over 30 years old, was a teacher at the Communist Party School, the Kunming Railway Bureau. On July 20, 1999, Jiang Zemin's faction started to persecute Falun Gong. He went alone to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong in May 2000. After the Beijing police arrested him, he was sent to the Yunnan Province Liaison Office in Beijing and detained there. Personnel from the Security Division of the Kunming Railway Bureau and his work unit went to Beijing to bring him back. While on the train, in order to escape from his persecutors, Wang Xing took the opportunity to go to the toilet and jumped off the train. He died tragically in the fall. The security division and his work unit concocted a false rumour saying that Wang Xing jumped off the train to commit suicide because of his estranged relationship with his wife.

Ms. Zeng Shaolan, over 50 years old, was a retired employee from the Yunnan Province No. 3 Construction Company, who was arrested in July 2002 when she was posting Falun Gong truth-clarifying materials. The perpetrators then detained her at the Dongjiawan Police Station. Her home was also searched. Overwhelmed by the arrest and subsequent interrogation, she died on August 6, shortly after her family posted bail for her.

So far it has been reported that ten practitioners in Yunnan Province have died as a result of the Jiang regime's persecution: Mr. Kong Qinghuang (33 years old, from Jianshui County), Ms. Huang Jumei (48, Kunming City), Mr. Li Junqing (55, Kaiyuan City) , Mr. Xie Hongyu (23, Mojiang County), Ms. Tan Zaizhi (in her 30s, Dongchuan District of Kunming City), Mr. Wu Jiahe (in his 60s, Kunming City), Ms. Zeng Shaolan (50, Kunming City), Mr. Chen Jianzhong (in his 60s, Haikou of Kunming City) , Ms. Chen Shuqiu (50, Kunming City), Mr. Wang Xing (30, Kunming City).
