On the morning of December 10, 2004, officials from the Beipei District court and the district police bureau of Chongqing City broke into Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Peijin's house after his family went to work. Without notifying his lawyer, they announced a sentence of eight years in prison, abducted Mr. Zhang from his bed, detained him in a detention centre, and did not allow his family to visit him.

Mr. Zhang Peijin was an accountant at the 9th People's Hospital in Chongqing City. He was publicly recognized as a model employee at his work unit. Just because he was steadfast in his belief in "Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance," he was subjected to brutal persecution. He was forced to leave home to avoid the continued brutality.

On the night of August 19, 2004, the 610 Office of Chongqing City, the party secretaries, the Chongqing National Security Bureau, and dozens of police from the Shangqing Police Station mobilized firefighters to open Mr. Zhang's theft-proof door. Without any warrant or legal document, they forcibly arrested practitioners Mr. Zhang and Mr. Wang Guanglin, who was also in the house. Policemen searched the entire house and confiscated the computer, the printer, Falun Dafa books, and all of the cash. They beat Mr. Wang brutally until he lost consciousness. Mr. Zhang was also beaten, leaving wounds on his head, lower back, and legs.

When the policemen dragged them down the stairs, hundreds of people saw the brutal acts of the police and the staff from the 610 Office. Mr. Zhang and Mr. Wang shouted "Falun Dafa Is Good!" Several policemen jumped on them, covered their mouths, choked them and quickly pushed them into the police car. That night, Mr. Zhang was forcibly interrogated and received several cuts on his forehead. Mr. Wang was brutally beaten and remained unconscious for over one hour.

On August 20, the Beipei District Police Sub-bureau sent Mr. Wang and Mr. Zhang, who were covered with wounds and bruises, to the Beipei Detention Centre for further persecution. The two practitioners strongly protested that the policemen deprived them of their freedom of belief which was given by the constitution, unlawfully arrested and detained them, purposely injured their bodies, and committed other criminal acts that were against the law of the country. To fight for their legal rights as citizens, Mr. Zhang and Mr. Wang went on a hunger strike.

On August 30, when Mr. Zhang and Mr. Wang had become extremely frail and their lives were in danger, the Beipei District Detention Centre sent them to the 9th People's Hospital of Chongqing City for further torture and force-feeding. In the hospital, their hands and feet were tied to a metal bed. Mr. Wang was forbidden to go to the toilet because he refused a police official's request. He had to urinate on his bed. The director of the Beipei District 610 Office and the branch leader of the district sub-police bureau, said, "Even if you are dying, we still won't release you. We won't bear any responsibility when you die in the hospital."

The director of the Beipei District 610 Office, even instructed the prison officials and security staff that if they found Mr. Wang or Mr. Zhang trying to escape, they could beat them to death. When a police officer from the Beipei District Detention Centre was on duty, he would go to a restaurant to drink or drink in the patient's room. After he became drunk he would slander Falun Dafa and Dafa practitioners.

The 9th People's Hospital of Chongqing City staff actively served as assistants to the 610 Office and they instructed the doctors from the Departments of Digestion and Infectious Disease to insert stomach tubes in the two practitioners. They failed because the two practitioners resisted.

The persecutors did not accept their failure. The head nurse, injected the two practitioners with a high dosage of a "sedative drug," so they could not resist. Due to the strong righteous thoughts of these two practitioners, the drug did not have any effect. They completely failed to insert the stomach tubes into the practitioners. To cover up their crime, Dean Tang Yansong issued an order that no hospital staff could visit Mr. Zhang in his room and threatened that anyone who violated the order would have his bonus pay withheld.

On September 19, thirty-one days after he stopped drinking or eating, Mr. Wang Guanglin escaped and was forced to stay away from his home and wander around to avoid recapture. Mr. Zhang was still subjected to torture. Because he was fed through his nose for a long time and injected with a high dosage of unknown drugs, he was often in a coma. His life was in serious danger. To avoid responsibility in case he died, the Beipei District 610 Office sent Mr. Zhang back to his family members. The 610 Office asked them to take him home under the pretence of waiting for a trial. After two months had passed, Mr. Zhang was still bed-ridden. He could not sit long and could not stand at all.

During this time, the Beipei District 610 Office hired four security officials to monitor Mr. Zhang in front of his house day and night. On October 1, the Beipei District Court conducted a trial in his house. Mr. Zhang and his lawyer refuted their accusations one by one. The trial ended quickly.

On December 10, the Beipei District Court and the Police Sub-bureau broke into Mr. Zhang's house after his family members had gone to work. They did not notify his lawyer and sentenced him to eight years in prison. Then they dragged him out of bed and detained him in the Beipei District Detention Centre. They forbade his family members and his lawyer to see him. At the time of his arrest, the police officers did not even allow Mr. Zhang to put his clothes on.
