In December 2002, Practitioner Chen Minwei, from the Guandong Medical College of Zhanjiang City, was tortured by police from the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp. He was deprived of sleep, causing him to develop a high fever. He was forced to squat for long periods of time. Also, policemen directed criminals to beat his face and feet with heavy boots. His feet swelled severely. His flesh was heavily bruised and the bone was exposed to the air. He was sent to the hospital for treatment. Simply because he was firm in his belief, at the end of April 2003, he was sent to the second substation of the forced labour camp to be tortured. The hospital bill was over 10,000 yuan [Chinese currency, the monthly salary for an average Chinese urban worker is about 500 Yuan] for his emergency treatment. Now the camp is forcing his family to pay for his treatment through the Safety Department of the Guangdong Medicine College.

Practitioner Wang Zhufeng was tortured and had his shoulder bone broken because of his firm belief in Falun Gong. He was sent to Foshan Hospital for surgery. The operation cost over 20,000 yuan. Practitioners Lin Fengchi and Li Dongyuan were injured by torture and sent to hospitals for treatment, then sent back to be tortured again. The Forced Labour Camps are demanding that practitioners' families pay the hospital fees through the practitioners' work units.

We warn the evil people to stop the persecution immediately. Practitioners' family members should reject their extortion too. We hope people from practitioners' work places don't help a tyrant commit evil deeds. Reject extortion and ask for information on practitioners in the forced labour camps.
