Thirty-seven-year-old Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Liu Zhongtai is a worker in the Bayi Mine of Tengzhou City, Shandong Province. Before Zhongtai started practising Falun Dafa in 1996, he suffered from asthma brought about by misuse of medication. After practising for a year, he was completely cured. Zhongtai was grateful to Teacher in his heart, and he has been firmly practising Falun Dafa and clarifying the truth to people. He travelled to Beijing to appeal for Falun Dafa in April 2000. He was arrested and turned over to the Tengzhou City "610 Office" and detained in jail for 30 days. After being released from jail, the mine where he worked did not let him continue working his regular job. Instead, they had him work as a janitor in the Department of Security for ten months. In December of 2001, the "610 Office" of Mine No. 81 sent Zhongtai to their brainwashing class. However, Zhongtai did not cooperate with them and firmly refused to write any pledge against Falun Dafa. [the "610 Office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems].

In 2002, Zhongtai was forced to leave home due to the persecution, which worried the "610 Office." The officials of the "610 Office" tried everything they could to deceive Zhongtai's wife so that Zhongtai would come back home. After Zhongtai came back home, they arranged some "employment" for him, but in June of 2002, police from the "610 Office" of the Tengzhou City Police Station arrested Zhongtai while he was at his new job. Zhongtai had only been back for ten days before he was arrested. After thirty days in detention, the "610 Office" illegally sent Zhongtai to three years of forced labour in the Wangcun Labour Camp.

In the Wangcun Labour Camp, Zhongtai suffered all sorts of torture. The criminals in jail would not let him sleep for long periods of time and collaborators [former practitioners who have renounced Falun Dafa due to extreme physical and mental pressure and now assist in the persecution] would beat him as soon as he fell asleep. He was shocked with electric batons and never allowed to see sunlight. Every day he was forced to sit on a 30-centimetre-high by 20-centimetre-wide tiny bench and was not allowed to move. If he moved at all he would be beaten. His legs were wounded so severely that he could barely walk. Even though he was badly injured, Zhongtai was still forced to wear handcuffs and shackles. When he went to the toilet, although two collaborators carried him there, two policemen would follow. He was never allowed to see his family. When his family sent him a coat to wear in the winter, the heartless officials kept it from him.

The police are torturing Zhongtai every day. He is currently detained in the 11th Team of the Wangcun Labour Camp. The team leader's last name is Jing, and he is the major tormenter of the camp.
