Mr. Qian Fajun from Linyi City, Shandong Province, could not take care of himself after he returned home from the Shandong No. 2 Men's Forced Labour Camp in January 2012. His health kept deteriorating, and he died at 9:00 p.m. on April 17th, 2013, at the age of 44. Local authorities are at his home, trying to cover up the truth.

Mr. Qian was born in 1969. He was hot tempered before he practised Falun Gong, but changed after he started the practice and became kindhearted and more considerate. Since the Communist regime started the persecution of Falun Gong in 1999, Mr. Qian was repeatedly arrested, tortured, and imprisoned because of his belief. His father, in his 80s who had been living with him, was in great mental torment and had much anxiety over his son's persecution.

On September 23rd, 2011, Mr. Qian was arrested at home by agents from the Linyi City 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) during the busy autumn harvest season. He was taken to the Linyi Brainwashing Centre.

Brainwashing centre head Su Wei and other perpetrators force-fed him as a means of torture and laced his food with poisonous substances, which left him in a severely debilitated physical condition. Su Wei and others also physically abused and mistreated Mr. Qian, seriously injuring him, and afterwards he was unable to walk. He had to be carried to use the toilet.

After having been held in the brainwashing centre for more than 40 days, Mr. Qian was sent to the Shandong No. 2 Men's Forced Labour Camp in Zhangqiu on October 28th, 2011, to be held for a year. Mr. Qian did not pass the physical exam at the Basan Hospital and should not have been admitted to the labour camp according to the regulations. However, the labour camp admitted him anyway.

Mr. Qian started a hunger strike to protest the persecution and was force-fed for long periods of time. Prison doctor Zhang always tortured Mr. Qian during force-feeding when he was on duty. He inserted a nasal tube and kept turning it around and moving it up and down to make Mr. Qian suffer.

When Mr. Qian once told others how doctor Zhang tortured him, Zhang got mad and kept violently inserting and punching Mr. Qian's nose with the nasal tube. An inmate who was at the scene described it to others: “That was not just inserting a tube, but Zhang basically punching and shoving it into Qian's nose.”

Mr. Qian often went into convulsions and sometimes even wet his bed. The inmates saw that Mr. Qian was on the verge of death and were afraid that he might die in their cell. The guards would then extend their terms. They went to the leaders to report Mr. Qian's situation. Leader Li of the No. 7 Ward said, “What are you afraid of? Just carry him out and throw him away if he dies.”

The guards started to force-feed Mr. Qian again. Mr. Qian vomited after the tube was pulled out. The prison doctor who inserted the tube said it was useless.

The camp authorities had to send Mr. Qian to the Basan Hospital for emergency rescue. Several days later, Mr. Qian was able to speak. However, inmate Zhou Fuzhan, who was monitoring Mr. Qian, reported to a guard that Qian was different after the rescue, even his tone was different.

On January 14th, 2012, Ma Zongtao, head of the Lingang District 610 Office, and several personnel went to the hospital, carried Mr. Qian into a van, and then took him home. A once healthy man was turned into a dying man. Mr. Qian's friends and family were heartbroken to see this.

Mr. Qian's health did not recover. He was not able to walk and was in great pain. His right foot festered severely and discharged pus due to the injection of unknown drugs at Basan Hospital. He could barely move his limbs, and he needed help to eat, drink, and use the restroom. He could not even get out of bed.

Mr. Qian passed away at 9:00 p.m. on April 17th, 2013 at the age of 44.
