  • My Father and My Brother Were Killed in the Persecution

    In 1999, Falun Gong practitioner Yu Zhenyi was arrested and sentenced to four years in jail. At that time he had already been tortured. In 2002, his family took him from Wanjia Forced Labour Camp to hospital. An examination showed that he had been violently hit in the head and was suffering from severe internal injuries. He died on May 14th, 2002. His father, Yu Guanyun, was arrested during July 2002 and was sentenced to three years of forced labour. He died on January 11th, 2003, as a result of the torture he endured in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp.
  • Additional Information Regarding Ms. Wang Yanfeng's Death in Guangshui City Detention Centre; Fellow Practitioner Ms. Sheng Cuilian in Critical Condition in Detention, Family Visits Denied

    Ms. Wang Yanfeng and Ms. Sheng Cuilian were arrested and detained in April for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong. Then in September they were arrested again. Guangshui City Domestic Security agent Fang Hong brutally beat Ms. Wang during the arrest process. The two women were detained in the Guangshui City Detention Centre, where they again held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. They were cruelly beaten repeatedly each time they refused to eat. They both became extremely weak, and Ms. Wang Yanfeng died on September 24th, 2008. The Guangshui City Detention Centre notified Ms. Sheng Cuilian's family of her weak condition but would not allow them to visit her.
  • The Persecution of Mr. Zhang Yumin's Family in Guangdong Province

    In 2000 Mr. Zhang Yumin and his wife were both detained and persecuted for practising Falun Gong. Mr. Zhang was sentenced to three years in the Sanshui Forced Labour Camp. As a result, his family business was shut down and sold way below market value. Not only was Mr. Zhang forced to do hard labour at the camp, he was also subjected to around-the-clock compulsory brainwashing, causing him to become seriously ill. After his release was finding it increasingly difficult to take care of himself and his wife had also been imprisoned. Due to the mental and physical stress Mr. Zhang was under, his condition rapidly deteriorated and he died on February 5th, 2007, leaving his wife to care for the three children he left behind.
  • Daughter Died Due to Persecution, Mother Sentenced to Forced Labour Again

    On August 21st, 2008, several police officers from Jiamusi City, Heilongjiang Province arrested fifty-eight-year-old practitioner Ms. Chen Xiuling, ransacked her home and seized money and other important items. Ms. Chen Xiuling was later sentenced to one and a half years of forced labour. She is now imprisoned at the Jiamusi City Forced Labour Camp. This is Ms. Chen's third time in a forced labour camp. In recent years, even when she is not in a forced labour camp, members of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) frequently harass her. Ms. Chen has been harassed ever since the CCP's persecution of Falun Gong began. Back in 1999, Miss Chen Ying, Ms. Chen's daughter, became the first victim to die from the persecution in Jiamusi City.
  • 55-Year-Old Ms. Liu Yanyun Dies as a Result of the Persecution in Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Liu Yanyun, 55, went to Beijing to appeal for justice for Falun Gong and was repeatedly persecuted by the police. The police tortured Ms. Liu by various means, including a torture called"Riding an Airplane", being forced to stand for long periods of time, and sleep deprivation. Another time Ms. Zhang was sentenced to three years of forced labour and she became very weak. Ms. Liu's physical condition worsened and she died on September 13th, 2008.
  • 60-Year-Old Mr. Li Yukun Dies as a Result of Persecution in Shandong Province

    During the past nine years, Mr. Li Yukun, 60, endured unimaginably cruel torture. He was detained several times because he appealed against the persecution of Falun Gong. A police officer told Mr. Li, "I want to beat you to death," whilst brutally beating him. He kicked out Mr. Li's front teeth with one kick, then hit his head with a stool, shattering the stool in the process. Mr. Li refused to renounce Falun Gong. At home he was constantly harassed by police. It was difficult for him to bear this intensive persecution, and he died on September 17th, 2008.
  • Ms. Cao Xiuxia Dies as a Result of Persecution in Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Cao Xiuxia died as a result of persecution on August 31st, 2008 when she was 47 years old. Whilst detained in a detention centre she had been shocked with electric batons, handcuffed to a heater, forced to sit outside on the ground in the freezing winter, and denied water and food. Ms. Cao was also sent to a forced labour camp for three years. She did slave labour and was often shocked with electric batons.
  • 55-Year-Old Ms. Yang Dongzhi Dies as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Yang Dongzhi, 55, went to Beijing to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong after the persecution started in July 1999. She was held in a detention centre for six months and to Majialong Forced Labour Camp. The drug criminals and guards abused and harassed her every day in attempts to force her into giving up her faith. On September 12th, 2001, guards hung her up with her arms crossed, which caused her to faint until she was on the verge of death. But the guards didn't care. Ms. Yang was repeatedly persecuted. In 2008 the chief of Saicheng Lake Police Station and a gang of officers arrested six practitioners. They were sent to forced labour camps in Nanchang and Jiujiang cities. Sadly, Ms. Yang Dongzhi passed away.
  • Crimes against Practitioners Committed in Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province

    Ms. Xu Chunlong was handcuffed in the introspection room at the Wangcun Forced Labour Camp for 48 hours, with her body and face black and blue from having been beaten. Her eyes, beaten to purple, were so swollen she couldn't open them. They also tortured her by injecting water into her nose. Ms. Ji Huili was beaten so brutally that she was unable to stand up even two months later, and couldn't walk unless someone supported her. At Suining Brainwashing Centre, Mr. Zhu Xianghe died as a result of gross abuse within five days, and his eyes and organs were removed. Ms. Shi Zhongling was abused for one year and two months, and subjected to tortures causing two broken ribs.
  • Dr. Peng Jianying from Sichuan Province and Ms. Cheng Jiying from Liaoning Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    Ms. Cheng Jiying, 61 years old, was a Falun Gong practitioner in Anshan City, Liaoning Province. Because she was steadfast in practising Falun Gong, she was persecuted by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents for a long time. She was frequently detained in forced labour camps and brainwashing centres. Both her body and mind were severely hurt. In 2003, she was arrested and detained in the Anshan Detention Centre. Later, she was sentenced to three years' imprisonment and persecuted in Dabei Prison in Shenyang City. Her health became worse and worse. In July 2006, she was released, but by then she was blind and bedridden. On September 19th, 2008, she passed away.
  • Ms. Shen Yuxia Dies in Police Custody in Guangdong Province

    On August 12th, 2008, 610 Office agents arrested Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Shen Yuxia at her family-owned tofu stand at the Beiqiao Market. On August 27th, after only 15 days in police custody, her family was notified that she had died. Ms. Shen's family saw that her body was covered with wounds, and her chest was covered with dark bruises. When her family asked doctors about how she died, the doctor told them that Ms. Shen was already dead when she arrived at the hospital. Mr. Shen's husband Yu Jinnan is also a Falun Gong practitioner, and is currently incarcerated in Hunan Province.

    On September 4th, 2008, Guangshui City 610 Office agents arrested practitioners Ms. Wang Yanfeng and Ms. Sheng Cuilian. Guangshui City Domestic Security agent Fang Hong brutally beat Ms. Wang during the arrest process. The two women were detained in the Guangshi City Detention Centre, where they held a hunger strike to protest the persecution. They were cruelly beaten repeatedly each time they refused to eat. They were both extremely weak, and 46-year-old Ms. Wang Yanfeng died on September 24th, 2008.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Zhao Fengying from Panzhihua City

    Ms. Zhao Fengying, who was 60 years old, went to Beijing twice to appeal to the government on behalf of Falun Gong. In November 1999, she was detained at the Renhe District Detention Centre. In order to protest her detention, she went on a hunger strike. The guards brutally force-fed her. They then sent her to hospital and tied her limbs to a bed and had police officers stand by the entrance to her cell as they injected her with unknown drugs. In December, she was sentenced to a forced labour camp for one year. It was not until January 2003 that Ms. Zhao was finally able to leave the forced labour camp. Soon after she returned home, she was again repeatedly harassed by Chinese Communist Party (CCP) members.
  • Brutally Tortured into Mental Instability, Ms. Tan Xiufen Jumped from a Building to Her Death

    Two months after Ms. Tan Xiufen was released from the Tiandong County Detention Centre, she jumped from the fifth floor of her apartment building and died on March 27th, 2006. In the detention centre she suffered many kinds of torments, and brainwashing. The guards threatened her husband and her son to pressure her to give up her belief in Falun Gong. Unable to endure these tortures, she wrote a "Guarantee Statement" to give up her practice. Her behaviour became psychotic. After she returned home she often seemed to be in a state of abject terror. From investigation we can conclude that Ms. Tan Xiufen became mentally disordered due to the brutal persecution implemented by the police.
  • Mr. Dong Liantai Dies as a Result of Persecution in Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp

    Mr. Dong Liantai, 45, was arrested and detained several times. In July 2008 he was taken to Changlinzi Forced Labour Camp. In order to try to force him to give up his faith, the guards tortured him by tying him to a "Tiger Bench" and force-feeding him mustard oil and highly concentrated salt water, which hurt his stomach and throat terribly. He was coughing severely, could not sleep, and he felt a hot, burning sensation in his chest and stomach, all of which caused him to pass out. In less than 12 weeks, Mr. Dong was near death due to the torture. The authorities released him and he on September 19, 2008, with a high fever and in extreme pain.
