  • Ms. Li Guangmei From Guangdong Province And Mr. Jia Tiancai From Henan Province Died as a Result of Persecution

    Between 2000 and 2003, Ms. Li Guangmei, from Guangdong Province, was taken to a brainwashing centre twice. Since she persisted in her belief steadfastly, she was threatened many times. In the brainwashing centre, her freedom was restricted. Even when she went to the toilet or took a shower, she was monitored. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) agents took turns trying to brainwash her and force her to give up Falun Gong. She was deprived of sleep for several days and nights in a row. Her family members were prohibited from seeing her. The agents also insulted and beat her. Severely devastated both mentally and physically, she died in November 2003, at the age of 37.
  • Details of How Mr. Zhang Litian Was Beaten to Death in Jinzhou City Prison

    Mr. Zhang Litian, 36, was beaten to death on November 17th by two wardens and two prisoners, only one month after being detained in Jinzhou City Prison. At 3:00 p.m., people saw prisoners push his body into the prison clinic on the meal cart. The doctor said, "He's already dead, why bother sending him to me now?" The entire body of 163 prisoners in the 20th Ward know Mr. Zhang Litian was beaten to death, but the prison is still trying to hide the facts. Mr. Zhang's family fears that a local autopsy may produce false results.
  • Mr. Chen Min Dies as Direct Result of Persecution in Hunan Province

    Mr. Chen Min, 45, was a doctor who was among the first batch of practitioners persecuted in Zhuzhou City after the persecution began in July 1999. In the past nine years of persecution, he was detained four times and sentenced to one year of forced labour in 2002, at the Xinkaipu Labour Camp. He was arrested again in September 2002. This time he was sentenced to five years in prison. Five years of this long term imprisonment and torture severely damaged Mr. Chen's mental and physical health. He was emaciated, vomiting blood, and passed blood in his faeces. He could not eat after being released to his home in September 2007, and could not care for himself. He died in June 2008.
  • Mr. Jin Junjie Dies as Result of Persecution in Jilin Province

    On October 14th, 1999, Mr. Jin Junjie went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong, was arrested and sentenced to one year of forced labour. He was tortured with "Riding on a wooden horse", causing his buttocks to fester. In 2001 he was sentenced again to two years of forced labour. Guards enforced brainwashing and torture. By 2007, Mr. Jin was diagnosed him with tuberculosis. He died on December 13th, 2008.
  • Prominent Law Professor from Jilin University, Ms. Wang Weidong, Persecuted by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

    Ms. Wang Weidong was a law professor employed by the Law Department of Jilin University. After practising Falun Gong she changed from being aggressive to being kind. After the persecution started on July 20th, 1999, the police closely monitored all of her activities. They followed her, tapped her phone, and videotaped her. Chinese Communist Party (CCP) officials tried to force her to write articles that slandered Falun Gong. She absolutely refused, but they continued high pressure harassment. After dealing with the intense pressure of the persecution for a long time, Ms. Wang's doctor diagnosed her with breast cancer in July 2006. She died on November 5th, 2006, at the age of 66.
  • Ms. Cao Huiqin, in her 60s, Dies As a Result of Torture after Six Days in Custody in Gansu Province

    On December 2nd, 2008, police officers ransacked older practitioner, Ms. Cao Huiqin's home, and arrested her. On December 5th, the police took her to ta detention centre. On December 8th, the police said they checked on her at 9:45 p.m. and she was fine, but by 10 p.m., she had apparently hanged herself. The autopsy revealed her calm expression, rope marks on her neck, a needle puncture, and bruises on her back. Ms. Cao's family insists that it was impossible that she committed suicide, because her expression showed no signs of a struggle and her tongue was not sticking out as would be expected in a hanging. Her family believes she was killed and the then authorities fabricated a suicide to deceive them.
  • Practitioner's Son Dies Attempting to Rescue His Mother

    On May 5, 2003, a group of police broke into Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Zhang Yuzhen's home. The police took her to the Nanjing Detention Centre. Two days later, Ms. Zhang's son, Mr. Cao Gancheng, who is not a Falun Gong practitioner, went to the police station and asked to see his mother. After being refused, he became distraught and anxious. He couldn't understand how his mother could be arrested simply because she practised Falun Gong. Unexpectedly, after his mother had been detained for one week, Mr. Cao Gancheng climbed to the roof of the seven story building and shouted, "Falun Gong is good." After that, he jumped off the building. The family rushed him to hospital, but it was too late. He died at 43 years old.
  • A Brief Account of the Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in Qinghai Province

    Ms. Tan Yingchun was a biology teacher. On December 29th, 2002, she was tortured to death at Qinghai Province Women's Forced Labour Camp. She was only 46 years old. Before she died, one practitioner who was detained with her saw alarming and disturbing wounds on her legs. Another practitioner witnessed guards putting a rope round Ms. Tan's neck, then dragging her backwards. She almost died of suffocation. In order to destroy the evidence and cover up their crime, the Labour Camp did not release the notice of Ms. Tan's death until three days later. The authorities at the camp claimed that she had "hanged herself." However, when some practitioners pointed out that if she had hanged herself, there would have been physical evidence on her neck.
  • Mr. Jin Junjie Dies as a Result of Persecution in Jilin Province

    Mr. Jin Junjie, 35, was arrested and detained several times for appealing for justice for Falun Gong. In 2001, Mr. Jin was once again arrested from his home, and was sentenced to two years of forced labour. He was inhumanly tortured by the method of being locked in a small cell for a long time. He went on a hunger strike to protest, and was then tortured with force-feeding. After his release he was diagnosed with pulmonary tuberculosis. He died on December 13th, 2008.
  • The Persecution of Falun Gong Practitioners in the Dayangshu Region of Inner Mongolia

    On May 19th, 2002, police ransacked a a site producing Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution and Ms. Li Haiyan was arrested. Because she refused to tell the police her name and address during the interrogation, she was viciously beaten for 14 hours, resulting in cuts and bruises covering her body. They tied her to a "tiger bench" and hit her with a metal belt. There were purple bruises all over her back, and she couldn't walk on her own. The police officers also inserted a lit cigarette into her nose and poured alcohol into her mouth. Ms. Li went on a hunger strike for more than 20 days to protest her persecution, and she was only met with punitive forced-feeding that harmed her even further. On January 13th, 2005, Ms. Li died, unable to recover from the brutal torture that she had suffered.
  • Two Elderly Practitioners Ms. Zhang Guiyun from Heilongjiang Province and Mr. Li Hongxi from Hebei Province Die under Persecution

    On May 7th, 2008, Xushui County Domestic Security agents intruded into 67-year-old Mr. Li Hongxi's home. They ransacked his place and took his possessions worth 1000 yuan. He was arrested later at his workplace. The police detained Mr. Li for 11 days in the Xushui County Detention Centre. They harmed him both physically and mentally when they tried to take him to the Baoding City Forced Labour Camp. He appeared absent minded after that. He had symptoms of a bloated stomach and fluid accumulation around the liver. He never recovered and died on November 25th, 2008.

    This article describes how Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Liu Xiaolian's death was a premeditated act of murder, rather than a "death-as-a-result-of-torture" incident. While she was imprisoned, Ms. Liu suffered numerous hardships, including being subjected to a brutal torture method called, "Five Horses Splitting a Body." She was also beaten with metal shackles, injected with poison, force-fed poisonous pills, shocked with high-voltage electric batons and needles, and humiliated by male prisoners. Ms. Liu died on October 26th, 2008, at the age of 68.
  • Falun Gong Practitioners Pass Away in Anhui, Liaoning, and Hebei Provinces as a Result of Persecution

    Mr. Zhang Liangming, about 47 years old, lived in Anhui Province. Since July 20th, 1999, he was frequently harassed and detained several times by local police. In 2000, Zhang Liangming was sent to a forced labour camp by the local police because he want to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. He was then sent to Nanhu Forced Labour Camp in Anhui Province. The clinic in the forced labour camp gave him unknown injections and he suffered a mental breakdown. His family later bailed him out for medical treatment. He never recovered and passed away on June 12th, 2008.
  • Ms. Huo Shuxiang Dies Due to Persecution in Heilongjiang Province

    On June 27th, 2007, police arrested Ms. Huo Shuxiang when she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. She was detained for fifteen days and extorted of 1000 yuan. After she was released, her family strictly monitored her, as they were fearful that Ms. Huo would be arrested again. Her family didn't let her study the Falun Gong teachings or do the exercises. Under the heavy pressure from her employer and family, she became ill. She died on November 23rd, 2008, at age 48. Her child is still young.
  • Retired Schoolteacher Ms. Chen Guiqin Dies From Torture--Nine Family Members Persecuted

    58-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Chen Guiqin was arrested and sentenced to two years at the Harbin Drug Rehab Re-education Centre in Yichun City, Heilongjiang Province. The police interrogated Ms Chen through the night and the next day. Female officer Wen Xiaohui then attacked her and threw her to the ground. She pulled her up by her hair, and forced her to stand facing the wall with her head bowed and body bent for a long time. Due to torture, her health deteriorated, and she died on January, 6th, 2004, after being released. Nine family members, including her four children and her husband, were also subjected to severe torture and harassment.
