  • 77-Year-Old Mr. Cao Changling Dies During the Olympics Under Suspicious Circumstances

    Mr. Cao Changling, 77, left home on his bike on August 8th, 2008, but never returned home. On August 10th, an official notified his family that Mr. Cao was in hospital and he'd had a stroke. He died on August 15th. Mr. Cao's family know the cause of death is questionable. If he fell down because of a stroke, why did the witnesses fear speaking the truth? The bruises on his body showed that he might have been beaten to death.
  • Mr. Zhang Wenliang Dies in Shandong Province after Years of Persecution

    Mr. Zhang Wenliang, 37, went to Beijing several times to appeal on behalf of Falun Gong, and was arrested. In 2007 he was sent to a forced labour camp in Wangcun for 18 months. In 2008, he became very weak while in Wangcun Labour Camp, and was treated at Wangcun Hospital. By the time he checked out of the hospital in October 2008, he could not take care of himself, and his life was in danger. Even in such a poor condition, local police continued to harass him at home often. He died on December 6th, 2008.
  • Mr. Ding Guohua Dies Shortly After Being Released from Forced Labour Camp

    On May 26th, 2008, police, and community administration arrested Mr .Ding Guohua and imprisoned him in a detention centre. In August 2008, he was taken to Nanhu Forced Labour Camp in Xuancheng City. In less than six months, he went from being healthy to being bedridden due to the brutal mistreatment. Due to the extra-heavy hard labour and severe living conditions, Mr. Ding soon became very sick, but the guards still forced him work to until he was bedridden. Mr. Ding's family heard that he was very sick and went to visit him, but the camp administration refused to let them see each other. One week later after his family came, the guards saw that Mr Ding was dying, and allowed his family to pick him up. Soon after he returned home, he died on January 13th, 2009.
  • Further Information about the Death of Mr. Jiang Xiqing in the Chongqing City Forced Labour Camp

    On January 28th, 2009, seven hours after Xishanping Forced Labour Camp declared Mr. Jiang Xiqing dead, his children found that his philtrum, chest, belly and legs were still warm. They were shocked, and shouted, "Dad is still alive! Quickly rescue him!" They tried to do artificial respiration, but more than twenty guards forcibly dragged them out of the funeral home. When Mr. Jiang's family visited him 24 hours before his death, he was fine. How did he suddenly die of illness, as the labour camp official alleged? Why did his family did not hear from the labour camp if he was so sick as to be close to death? The suspicious nature of Mr. Jiang's death and the labour camp's clumsy attempts to cover up the cause of death have led the family to suspect that Mr. Jiang was murdered.
  • Two Practitioners Persecuted to Death in Gansu and Hebei Provinces

    Ms. Li Guiqin, 68, became healthy through practising Falun Gong. Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, Ms. Li was taken into custody and tortured to the point where she suffered a mental collapse. In 2004 she broke her arm and injured her hip in a fall, making it very difficult for her to walk. When she went to a hospital, the doctor refused to treat her, saying that she was too old. Soon after that she became bedridden for four years and was as thin as a rail. On May 1st, 2008, Ms. Li passed away as a result of persecution. A once healthy and vibrant practitioner was persecuted to death just for practising Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance.
  • Additional Information Surrounding the Death of Older Practitioner Ms. Chen Pingzhen in Heilongjiang Province

    Ms. Chen Pingzhen, 58, went missing on February 12th, 2006, after going to a relative's birthday party. On the afternoon of February 14th, her family saw a photo of an "Unknown Body" death announcement put out by the Hegang City Police Department; this is how they learned of her death. The autopsy revealed 700 ml. (about 3 cups) of blood trapped in her skull, one damaged kidney, and blood on both sides of her mouth. There was a bloody mark on her neck, one side of her face was very swollen and bruised, and her hands and feet were bruised. All the possessions and Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution she usually carried were gone.
  • Three Practitioners Die as a Result of Persecution in Chongqing City and Hebei Province

    Ms. Pang Dingrong was a resident of Chongqing City. On October 3rd, 2007, she was arrested and detained while she was distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong at Huangnibang. She was sentenced to one and a half years in the Shabao Forced Labour Camp in Chongqing City. While she was imprisoned, she began to suffer from a severe form of cancer, but that didn't deter the guards from brutally torturing her. Ms. Pang was released on August 21st, 2008 and passed away on December 26th, 2008 as a result of persecution.
  • Older Ms. Su Cangxin Dies after Enduring Nine Years of Persecution

    After July 20th, 1999, when the persecution started, Ms. Su Cangxin's family of five became a target for persecution by the Chinese Communist Party. In both July 1999 and July 2000, her husband was detained for more than three weeks in the Township Police Station. Around May 26th, 2001, the persecution was the most severe, and Ms. Su's husband was arrested by police. They took him to the city courthouse and beat him for five days. They hit his legs with a wooden stick, shocked him with an electric baton, used a rubber hammer to hit his back and a wooden stick to apply pressure to his thighs, and injected him with unknown drugs. After nine years of repeatedly being harassed, threatened, and detained, Ms. Su could not bear it any longer. She became weaker and weaker and died on January 4th, 2009.
  • The Persecution of Ms. Sun Jinjun, a Teacher at the Anshan City No. 15 Middle School

    Ms. Sun Jinjun was employed as an art teacher. She's been severely persecuted for many years, including being detained in two forced labour camps. Now she barely makes enough money to cover even her most basic needs. Guards brutally beat and shocked Ms. Sun with electric batons. When Ms. Sun Jinjun's older sister, Ms. Sun Yuhua, did not give up practising Falun Gong, she was taken to Dabei Prison in 2003. The prison guards brutally tortured her and eventually beat her to death. Ms. Sun Yuhua was only 37 when she died.
  • Murder Suspected in Older Practitioner's Sudden Death in Chongqing Forced Labour Camp

    On May 13th, 2008, the day after the major earthquake in Sichuan Province, Falun Gong practitioner, Mr. Jiang Xiqing, 66, was taken from his home by Communist Party officials. On December 2nd, 2008, his family learned that Ms. Luo had been sentenced to eight years in prison. On July 30th, 2008, Mr. Jiang Xiqing was taken to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. On January 27th, 2009, Mr. Jiang's family went to visit him at the Camp. He seemed to be in good health at that time. However, within less than 24 hours, on January 28th, labour camp officials called his family to notify them that Mr. Jiang had died. Mr. Jiang Xiqing's death was a complete surprise and very suspicious. The police wanted to cremate his body to cover up the murder evidence.
  • Mr. Zhang Litian Dies from Prison Beating--Liaoning Procuratorate and Appeals Office Refuse to Receive His Family Members

    Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started persecuting Falun Gong, Mr. Zhang Litian was harassed and persecuted many times. In April 2008, he was arrested by police and imprisoned in the First Detention Centre. He was sentenced to a five year prison term in August 2008, then he was persecuted in the Jinzhou Prison in October. On November 17th, Mr. Zhang died after being brutally beaten by prison guards. His family members went to Liaoning Province Procuratorate of Shengyang City on December 23rd, 2008 to call for justice but were refused.
  • Mr. Wang Ren Dies after Prolonged Persecution

    In June 2005, police arrested 53-year-old Mr. Wang Ren and sentenced him to three years in the Changlinzi Men's Forced Labour Camp. The guards used many cruel torture methods to try to force Mr. Wang to renounce his beliefs. He was also forced to perform slave labour for eleven hours a day. Under such brutal mental and physical stress, Mr. Wang fell gravely ill. In order to shirk their responsibilities, the Wuchang City 610 Office took him home on February 1st, 2007. By the end of November 2008, he was bedridden. He died on December 11th, 2008.
  • Additional Information on the Persecution and Deaths of Mr. Han Liguo and Mr. Sun Qian in Shenyang Prison

    Guards at Shenyang City No. 2 Prison in Liaoning Province routinely torture Falun Gong practitioners very brutally. Practitioner Mr. Han Liguo was tortured to death, followed by the death of practitioner Mr. Sun Qian. Guards have also tortured practitioner Sun Yongsheng. One Saturday morning in early July 2004, somebody in the No. 20 Ward called out for Han Liguo and said that the prison head, Li Jianguo, wanted to see him. Nobody has seen Mr. Han since. After a long time, other prisoners heard that he had already passed away. But just how did he die? No one knows what really happened.
  • Mr. Jin Dezhu Dies as Result of Persecution in Jilin Province

    School teacher Mr. Jin Dezhu, in his 40s, was fired by the principal in 2002 for refusing to give up Falun Gong and the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Under enormous pressure, his wife divorced him. He was detained several times for practising Falun Gong. He was sent for 18 months of forced labour at the Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jiutai City, Jilin Province. Mr. Jin was tortured and spent a long time on the sitting board. After seven months, Mr. Jin became emaciated and developed severe tuberculosis. His life was in danger and he passed out many times. The labour camp had doctors take him back home to avoid responsibility for his condition. Mr. Jin was hospitalized twice, but died on December 31st, 2008.
  • Mr. Zhong Kai Dies in the Beiye Prison in the Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region

    Mr. Zhong Kai, 32, experienced multiple periods of persecution by police for refusing to give up his belief in Falun Gong. In 2007, he was transferred to the Beiye Prison. Mr. Zhong was tortured with sleep derivation and the guards only allowed him to have a half of a bun per meal. He was starved for long periods of time. In November 2008, guards forced Mr. Zhong to go from ward to ward where he was humiliated, criticized, and beaten by the prisoners. On the morning of December 26th, 2008, Mr. Zhong died after falling from the top of the ward building. The ward never issued a statement explaining the cause of his death. Instead, they declared his death.
