Tongchuan District Court in Dazhou Sentences Five Practitioners to Prison

The Tongchuan District Court tried five practitioners on December 21st, and issued sentences on December 28. Ms. Tao Dafeng, in her 60s, was sentenced to ten years in prison; Ms. Xia Bi, in her 50s, was sentenced to eight years; Ms. Li Lei, 45, and Mr. Ran Wenxue, in his 60s, were both sentenced to five years; and Ms. Guo Defen, in her 60s, was sentenced to a three-year term. -
Mr. Zheng Deming's Self-Defence in Court
2012-01-10Mr. Zheng Deming, 66, was first arrested on New Year's Day in 2000, as he practised the Falun Gong exercises in a park. He was sentenced to three years in prison. He was again sentenced, this time to seven years in prison, from 2002 to 2009, and was incarcerated in the Chaohu City Prison. He was arrested on June 24th, 2011, by officers from the Haozhou Street Police Station and the Luyang District 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and Domestic Security Team, and detained in Hefei City Second Detention Centre. The Luyang District Court tried him on December 13th, without notifying his family. -
Older Falun Gong Practitioner Ms. Li Zhenying of Jixi City Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison
2012-01-10Ms. Li Zhenying, 55, began practising Falun Gong in the summer of 1998. Since the Chinese Communist Party started persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, she has been arrested, beaten, and tortured several times. Ms. Li was sentenced to eleven years in prison in 2003, and was taken to Heilongjiang Women's Prison on March 10th, 2004. She is currently being held in the No. 11 Ward of the prison. Ms. Li has been sometimes deprived of sleep for long periods of time. When she refused to wear the prison uniform and went on hunger strike to protest the persecution, the guards ordered inmates to viciously beat her and force-feed her. She was then put in solitary confinement. -
Mr. Qiu Ming Arrested and Sent to Detention Centre by Officers from Shanghai Domestic Security Division
2012-01-09Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Qiu Ming was arrested by officers from Shanghai Domestic Security Division and detained at the Pudong District Detention Centre on December 18th. When Mr. Qiu distributed some materials to let people know about the facts of Falun Gong in July 2009, he was arrested by police officers from Shanghai Police Station. The head of the Domestic Security Division immediately went to the place where he was arrested. They arranged to have police officers stake out the location, waiting to arrest more practitioners. Later on, they took Qiu to the Domestic Security Division, framed him on trumped up charges, and sent him to the detention centre for further abuse. -
Harbin Police Officers Arrest a Practitioner's Son as a Hostage, Later Arrest the Mother and Several Others
2012-01-08Four police officers broke into the home of Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Guo Yuhua in the afternoon on December 20th. Ms. Guo wasn't at home, so the police arrested her son and took him as a hostage. Later on, the police called Ms. Guo and demanded that she come to the police station to replace her son. Ms. Guo was worried about her son and went to the police station. She was arrested and hasn't returned home since. Recently, many practitioners in the Hulan District have been arrested and persecuted. -
Ongoing Persecution: 610 Office Attempts to Arrest Three Family Members Again
2012-01-07Mr. Lin Decai, his wife Zhang Quancui, and his mother-in-law Ma Yixian are Falun Gong practitioners from Chongqing. They were sentenced to a forced labour camp for a second time during the 2008 Olympics Games. They were eventually released, but the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) recently attempted to arrest them and take them to the Jiulongpo District Brainwashing Centre, causing Mr. Lin and his mother-in-law Ma Yixian to stay away from their hometown in order to avoid further persecution. Mr. Lin's wife Zhang Quancui was arrested and taken to the brainwashing centre. -
Recent Crimes Committed by Lu Yaqin and Other Guards in Hebei Province Women's Forced Labour Camp
2012-01-06In Hebei Province Women's Forced Labor Camp, seven practitioners who appealed to the government were shocked with electric batons by guard Lu Yaqin on August 15th, 2011. Later, Ms. Ye was beaten by the head of Division 3, Liu Ziwei, with a large electric baton. That day, Ms. Ye's right hand became severely swollen, and afterward she had difficulty walking and going up or down stairs. Due to the damage to the radial nerve of her right arm, her thumb's muscle became atrophied and she couldn't hold chopsticks in her right hand while eating. For a long time, she requested to go to the hospital for medical treatment but she was always rejected. -
Seven Practitioners in the Tongren Area in Guizhou Province Sentenced
2012-01-06Seven practitioners from the Tongren Area of Guizhou Province were sentenced to prison: Mr. Jiang Qirong, to five years; Mr. Jiang's wife, three years; Jue Daoyin, four years; Ms. Huang Meixian, two years; Yao Xinping, two years; Ms. Long Zhenping, in her 40s, one and a half years; and Mr. Yang Hang, ten months. In August 2010, many banners reading “Falun Gong is good!” “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” appeared in the Tongren Area. Local police arrested several practitioners, and some have been held in the Xieqiao Detention Centre in Tongren City. -
Kind-hearted Grocery Store Owner Tried
2012-01-05Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Peichen was tried by the Tonghua County Court, Jilin Province, on December 14th. He was arrested by the police on July 17th, and then detained at the Tonghua Detention Centre for five months, where he was subjected to severe torture by agents and police officers from the 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong). -
The Tortures Used at Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp
2012-01-04Beijing Women's Forced Labour Camp in the Daxing District has been a place where Falun Gong practitioners are detained and tortured. The practitioners detained there have been tortured by means such as being detained in a solitary compartment, forced-feedings, and sitting on a small stool for long periods of time. One practitioner was tied up to remain sitting on the small stool for months. The flesh on her bottom was raw and festering, and the bone was exposed. Such physical torture is hard to tolerate, especially for older people. One would feel pain in the back and waist shortly after sitting in this position. Many people had swollen feet or legs after sitting on the child's stool. -
Claiming That They're Just Following Orders, Police in Shuangcheng Continue Mass Arrests of Falun Gong Practitioners
2012-01-03Between November 13th and December 12th, Shuangcheng officers arrested more than 70 Falun Gong practitioners. On December 14th and 17th, officers from all police stations in the Shuangcheng area arrested even more practitioners. Furthermore, 15 practitioners who were arrested earlier were sentenced to forced labour. One officer claimed during an arrest that, “We're just following orders.” -
Police in Shuangcheng City, Heilongjiang Province Carry Out Mass Arrests of Falun Gong Practitioners
2012-01-01On November 13th, several police officers arrested 56 Falun Gong practitioners. They arrested five more practitioners on December 7th and 9th. The perpetrators also went to practitioners' homes in Shuangcheng City many times to harass them. If the practitioners weren't at home, they arrested the practitioners' non-practitioner family members. On December 9th, about six officers from the Wujia Town Police Station arrested Ms. Cang Jinxiu and two elderly practitioners from Nuanquan Village: Mr. Zheng Shining, 71, and Ms. Du Guilian, 64. They took computers, tape recorders, Falun Gong books, and other personal belongings from the practitioners' homes. -
About Twenty Practitioners Including Ms. Wen Yuhong from the Huairou District in Beijing Arrested
2012-01-01On the evening of November 17th, Ms. Wen Yuhong, in her 50s, was arrested with her three-year-old granddaughter by officers from the local domestic security division. Ms. Wen was taken to the Shunyi District Detention Centre. About 20 practitioners from the same area were also arrested that day. Huairou Domestic Security Division and 610 Office agents (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) proceeded to ransack Ms. Wen's home and took many personal belongings, worth more than 10,000 yuan. -
After Ten Years of Imprisonment, Mr. Zheng Deming Tried Again
2012-01-01Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zheng Deming, 66, was tried by the Luyang District Court on December 13th. In the past, Mr. Zheng was sentenced twice and detained in prison for ten years. Because he remains steadfast in his belief, Mr. Zheng was sentenced to three years in prison at the beginning of 2000 because he did the Falun Gong exercises in a park. In 2002, he was once again arrested and he was sentenced to seven years at the Chaohu Prison. -
Mr. Feng Kui Sentenced to Life in Prison after Being Shot
2011-12-31On June 5th, the four practitioners were distributing Falun Gong DVDs in the Shuangchengbao Town Market. Mr. Feng broke free from the officers from the Shuangchengbao Town Police Station, but found himself in a dead-end alley. During the ensuing chase, police shot him as he ran, and he lost consciousness. A stab wound in his right cheek bled profusely, and his head, neck, and right hand were covered in blood. Mr. Feng was taken to the Gongzhuling Detention Centre and given a life prison sentence.
