  • Eight Jilin Residents Sent to Brainwashing Facility, One Remains Detained

    As the year of 2015 was winding down, authorities in Tonghua, Jilin Province sent eight local residents to Xishan Brainwashing Centre in an attempt to force them to give up their belief in Falun Gong. While seven of the arrested were released by late December, Ms. Zhao Guihua was later transferred to a detention centre, where she remains at the time of writing.

    "I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Changchun City. I was arrested on September 2nd, 2011, and sentenced to seven years in prison for practising Falun Gong. I have been beaten and tortured in many ways, such as “Tying with Ropes” and “Flying an Airplane.” After I went on a hunger strike to protest the inhuman treatment, I was brutally force-fed. It choked me once, and I almost died. They force-fed me twice per day for six months, which damaged the membranes of my nasal cavities and stomach. It resulted in a gastrointestinal disorder, organ failure, and constipation."

    My name is Ji Shouling, and I am a Falun Gong practitioner in my 60s from Shandong Province. I was arrested on September 26th because I filed a criminal complaint against Jiang Zemin with the Supreme People's Procuratorate and the Supreme People's Court. The police chief dragged me by my hair and threw me to the ground. He kicked and beat me.

    Ms. Cui Cuixia has been arrested six times by the Chinese authorities because she refused to renounce her faith in Falun Gong. Since 1999, she has spent eight years and eight months in prisons, labour camps, and detention centres. She is currently serving a four-year prison term that ends in April 2016. She has endured brutal torture along the way.
  • The Ruthless Behaviour of Beijing Police

    Ms. Chen Yuqing and her daughter, both Falun Gong practitioners, were awakened around midnight by banging at their door and shouts that their house was on fire. There was no sign of a fire however, so they did not open the door. Yang Jinlong and other officers from the Shuguang Police Station then broke down the door and arrested Ms. Chen and her daughter. This occurred on July 19th, 2015.
  • Practitioners Persecuted for 18 Hours Daily in Haikou Brainwashing Centre

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Wang Xiaobo was arrested at work and taken to a brainwashing centre on May 8th, 2015, where staff deprive him of food and beat him until they broke his left arm. The police tried to brainwash him for about 18 hours daily. There were about 10 practitioners there at the time of his arrest.
  • 70-Year-Old Man Arrested for the 9th Time for His Belief

    70-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhang Shanming was recently arrested for the ninth time. He was taken into police custody on the evening of May 12th for putting up stickers with messages that said “Falun Gong is good” in public. His home was ransacked, and he is being held at the Zhucheng City Detention Centre. Because of his belief, the local police and Communist Party officials have targeted him since the persecution of Falun Gong began. He has been repeatedly arrested and unjustly detained. His most recent arrest marks the ninth time in the past 16 years.
  • Daughter of Canadian Citizens Groped During Force-feeding, Given 4 Years for Seeking Release of Wrongly Imprisoned Falun Gong Practitioner

    Ms. Chen Yinghua from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province was recently sentenced to 4 years in prison, about 13 months after her arrest for seeking visitation of a cousin imprisoned for his spiritual belief in Falun Gong. The 40-year-old daughter of a Canadian couple revealed to her lawyers during a meeting in May that she was repeatedly groped by a doctor named Li Yong during a brutal force-feeding session. She also sustained internal and external injuries as a result of other physical abuses.
  • Nine Arrested on Suspicion of Putting Up Posters Exposing the Persecution of Falun Gong

    The police in Shenyang, Liaoning Province arrested nine local residents on April 13th, claiming they were caught on surveillance video putting up posters exposing the persecution of Falun Gong between late August and early September last year. The practitioners were beaten and force-fed hot chilli pepper water when they denied the police's allegation. Mr. Qi Xiangyang in particular was left with bruises all over his chest and back, and the swelling didn't subside even after ten days. He was further force-fed when he went on a hunger strike to protest the torture and detention.
  • Survivors of Liaoning Women's Prison Recount Their Torture

    Ms. Wu Yuping was tortured with electric batons in 2003 and 2004 at the Liaoning Women's Prison. In the Spring of 2003, police used electric batons to shock her mouth, which quickly became badly swollen. Ms. Liu Zhi, 51, was taken to the Liaoning Women's Prison in July 2011. There she was laid out on the “death bed.” Her arms and legs were stretched and secured to the four corners of a metal bed frame. She was kept in this position 24 hours a day for days at a time.
  • I Was Tortured at Jinzhou City Forced Labour Camp

    I'm 60 years old. I was arrested for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in July 2000 and I was tortured for three years at Jinzhou City Forced Labour Camp for my belief in Falun Gong. I was subjected to brainwashing and tortured to force me to denounce my belief. I was tortured both day and night, until I couldn't think straight. My legs became swollen and I could not walk. They didn't stop until I was on the brink of death. As soon as I recovered a bit, they resumed the torture.
  • 845 Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in Shandong Province in 2014

    In 2014, the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong entered its 15th year unabated. According to data compiled by Minghui.org, a total of 6,415 practitioners were arrested last year across China, with Shandong Province topping the list with the most arrests. In 2014, there was continued evidence of blood samples forcibly taken from Falun Gong practitioners in Shandong Province. As the authorities often refused to offer a legitimate reason, many of the concerned practitioners suspected their blood samples were to be used for matching transplant patients with unwilling donors like them. It came to light in 2006 that the communist regime harvests organs from living imprisoned Falun Gong practitioners for profit.
  • Seventy-Year-Old Sentenced to Prison for Refusing to Renounce Falun Gong

    “Given your age, we'll release you if you sign the repentance statement” [promising to stop practising Falun Gong], the judge told 70-year-old Mr. Zhou Chuanye at his trial. Mr. Zhou was arrested on April 22nd, 2014, for practising Falun Gong. He was tried at Shahekou District Court. Because he hadn't broken any laws, Mr. Zhou did not sign the statement renouncing Falun Gong. He instead challenged the indictment, and told the court that Falun Gong is great. However, Mr. Zhou was sentenced to three years in prison.
  • Former Police Chief Sentenced to 6 Years as Wife Finishes 3-Year Imprisonment

    Fifty-three-year-old Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Chen Zhongxuan was arrested last September after three years of living away from home to avoid police harassment. Denied legal representation, he was sentenced to six years this February without his family's knowledge. His wife had been released from a three-year term of imprisonment only a few months earlier.
  • Man Recounts 12 Years of Torture for Broadcasting TV Programme Exposing Persecution of Falun Gong

    A group of seven practitioners in Lanzhou, Gansu Province tapped into a local TV station to broadcast programs exposing the persecution in August 2002. Two months later, they were all given heavy sentences ranging from 10 to 19 years in prison. Mr. Qiang Xiaoyi was among the sentenced. He managed to survive brutal torture in three different prisons during his twelve years of imprisonment.
