  • New Round of Arrests in the Shenyang City Shenbei New District

    Officers from the Shenbei New District Police Department in Shenyang City simultaneously carried out arrests of Falun Gong practitioners in four different places. The arrests took place on the evening of June 7th, 2012. Police arrested Ms. Guan Yaqing and her non-practitioner husband and took them to the Huangjia Township Police Station.
  • Nine Falun Gong Practitioners Arrested in 3 Weeks in Pingdu City

    Officials in Pingdu City, Shandong Province, have arrested many Falun Gong practitioners since the start of 2012. The Pingdu 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and various local police stations have participated in the persecution. Nine practitioners were taken into custody from May 21st to June 13th, 2012. On May 21st, police arrested Ms. Li Jihua when she spoke to people about Falun Gong in a local market. Ms. Li was sent to the Dashan Detention Centre in Qingdao City.
  • Transferred to Three Brainwashing Centres in One Month, Ms. Wang Yin Recounts Her Experience of Harassment, Forced-feeding, and Torture

    After Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Yin was arrested on August 24th, 2011, she was held at the Jilin City Shahezi brainwashing facility for eight days and was then transferred to the Xinglongshan brainwashing facility in Changchun City on September 1st. On September 21st she was transferred again, to the Shulan brainwashing facility. She was not released until September 29th. Within the span of one month, Wang Yin endured brutal persecution in these three brainwashing centres. During that period, the mistreatment and abuse included forced-feeding, sexual assault, being tied to a death bed, and other atrocities.
  • Taiwanese Falun Gong Practitioner Arrested in China By Zhong Yuan & Chen Zhen

    A Taiwanese businessman and Falun Gong practitioner was abducted by Chinese security forces last week, starting a campaign by his family to raise political and media attention about the case on the small island. Zhong Dingbang left Taiwan on June 15th for a three-day trip to Ganzhou, China, to visit relatives. He was expected to return home on June 18th, but never did. His phone was dead, too.
  • Attorneys for Falun Gong Practitioners Defend Their Clients Despite Interference by Shuangcheng Court

    Six Falun Gong practitioners were tried by the Shuangcheng Court in Heilongjiang Province on May 28th, 2012. Five lawyers were hired to defend them. Many people who heard about it wanted to sit in on the trial. As a result, the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) security agencies were all on high alert and tried to prevent the crowd from entering the courthouse. During the trial, the lawyers described the cruelty of the persecution against Falun Gong practitioners perpetrated by the communist authorities. The judge repeatedly hammered his desk in an attempt to keep them from revealing the facts. Nonetheless, they persisted. When one lawyer was silenced, another continued. At last, the judge had to have two lawyers removed from the courtroom.
  • Firsthand Account: Ms. Du Zuyin Force-Fed with Psychotropic Drugs at Xiaogan Mental Hospital

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Du Zuyin, a healthy and mentally competent person, was detained in the Xiaogan Mental Hospital in Hubei Province and force-fed psychotropic drugs. She was taken to the hospital by policemen He Zhongping and Liu Qiang in 2001. Through persistent demands, her family was eventually able to secure her release.
  • Falun Gong Practitioner and Former Anchor for Heilongjiang TV Station Zhao Xidong Arrested

    Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Zhao Xidong was an anchor for the Russian channel and a reporter for the Heilongjiang Province Television Station. He was arrested on December 31st, 2011. Mr. Zhao is currently being held in the Nangang Police Department Detention Centre. His family has hired an honest and kind lawyer to defend him.
  • High School Teacher Mr. Lu Jiajun from Jiamusi City Arrested and Taken to Brainwashing Centre

    Mr. Lu Jiajun is a high school teacher who is held in high regard by those who know him. He is known for his uprightness, kindness and responsibility. However because he remains steadfast in his belief in Falun Gong, he has been harassed many times by officers from the local political and legal committee. He was arrested and taken to a brainwashing centre on May 15th, 2012.
  • Police Arrest a Dutiful Daughter and a Benevolent Couple

    When Ms. Zhang Qiuping, a Falun Gong practitioner of Shenyang City, went to visit a friend on April 15th 2012, the police arrested her for no reason. She is now in a detention centre in Shenyang City. Her 75-year-old mother is handicapped and cannot take care of herself properly, but is now on her own. She is waiting anxiously for her daughter to come home.

    What is the 610 Office? How and why did it come to exist? Why is it carrying out measures ostensibly under the purview of the Ministry of Public Security? The 610 Office is named after the date of its creation: June 10th, 1999. “Six-ten” functions outside the state system without any official standing. At its core, the 610 Office is a plainclothes Chinese Communist Party (CCP)-based extra-ministerial security force focused on suppressing the Falun Gong spiritual group. The leading group sets the policy direction, which the 610 Office executes.
  • Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Officials in Wuhan City, Hubei Province Planned Trial of Seven Falun Gong Practitioners

    The Wuchang District Court, Wuhan City, Hubei Province planned to put seven Falun Gong practitioners on trial on May 19th, 2012. According to inside information, Zhou Yongkang, the head of the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) Political and Legislative Affairs Committee, was instrumental in pushing this one-year long case. Zhou ordered the Public Security Ministry to be in charge, and the local 610 Office (an organisation of special agents just for persecuting Falun Gong) and other law-enforcement organizations to adjudicate this case.
  • Law-Abiding Citizens Detained for Trying to Locate an Arrested Falun Gong Practitioner

    Falun Gong practitioners Mr. Huo Jinping and Mr. Guo Jingfen were arrested on the evening of March13th, 2012, when police broke into their home. The practitioners were taken to the Jiamusi Detention Centre. Later on, Mr. Huo Jinping was secretly transferred. His current whereabouts are unknown. Other practitioners and Mr. Huo's family members were recently arrested for trying to locate him.
  • A Family's Anguish: One Daughter Died as a Result of Persecution, Another Daughter and Daughter-in-law in Detention

    Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Faxiu was arrested at home by police on May 22nd, 2012. Her family was building a new house, and she was cooking for the builders at the time. Ju Peng and the police ransacked her home, confiscated Falun Gong books and materials, and took Ms. Wang into custody. She is currently being held in the Mengyin County Detention Centre. After Ms. Wang was arrested, her mother-in-law couldn’t sleep at night and was in extreme anguish.
  • Appealing for Their Son's Release, Mr. Zhou Xiangyang's Parents Arrested and Held in Brainwashing Centre

    Mr. Zhou Xiangyang has been on a hunger strike to protest his detention and torture for almost a year. He is in critical condition. Mr. Zhou’s parents went to Binhai Prison in Tianjin on February 15th, 2012 to request that Mr. Zhou be granted medical parole. The elderly couple had to drive their tractor for one and a half days to get to the prison. They then camped directly opposite the prison for several days to demand their son's release. Mr. Zhou's father stood outside the prison, wearing a white vest on which he'd written words appealing for his son's release. At 2 a.m., Mr. Zhou’s parents were taken to Changli Brainwashing Centre.
  • Mr. Wu Zhiqian Arrested Again for His Belief

    Mr. Wu Zhiqian, a Falun Gong practitioner from Wuhan City in Hubei Province, was arrested as he was returning home from work at around 5 p.m. on May 10th, 2012. His mother, a seventy-year-old retired teacher, is extremely worried about his safety. She can't walk by herself and relies on her son and daughter-in-law to take care of her. Previously in 2003, Mr. Wu was arrested while handing out materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong and was sentenced to 15 months in a forced labour camp. In 2004, he was sentenced to three and a half years in prison. In the prison, Mr. Wu were severely beaten many times.
