Cao Dong's Sentence Was Based on a Deceitfully Induced Confession

Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cao Dong was sentenced to five years of imprisonment before the 2007 Chinese New Year. Defence lawyers said that the only evidence was a false confession from Mr. Cao, admitting that he had submitted eight articles to a Falun Dafa website. He had been promised release if he confessed, but it was never granted. Mr. Cao Dong met with Edward McMillan-Scot, the European Parliament's Vice President, on May 21st, 2006. Mr. Cao told the Vice President about the brutal persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China. Two hours after the meeting, National Security Division agents arrested Mr. Cao. -
Practitioner Mr. Zhang Weijie's Whereabouts Unknown after Arrest, His Family Intends to Sue the Leaders of the 610 Office
2007-04-26On March 20th, 2007, Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Weijie from Wuhan City, Hubei Province was taken away by the 610 Office. His whereabout have been unknown until now. The Jiang'an District 610 Office refused to tell Mr. Zhang's family where he is detained. In a two-week period, Mr. Zhang's family members went to a the brainwashing centre in Wuhan City and asked for Mr. Zhang's whereabouts, but they still did not find Zhang Weijie. Li Yingjie, Director of the 610 Office in Jiang'an District, initially said: "Zhang is in a brainwashing class." But later on, he denied what he said. -
Criminal Acts Committed by Zengcheng District Police Officers and 610 Office in Guangzhou City, Guangdong Province
2007-04-26In December 2000, Ms. Tang Jinai went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong. She was then arrested and held in the Zengcheng District Detention Centre. She was two months pregnant with her first child at the time. Since the law states a pregnant woman cannot be sentenced to forced labour, police officials Luo Weijun and others from the Zhenlong Town Police Station took her to a hospital against her will and made her have an abortion. Afterwards, they watched her closely. On the eve of the 2001 Chinese New Year, they arrested her and took her to the Zengcheng Drug Rehabilitation Centre. Two months later, the persecutors sentenced her to one and a half years of forced labour. -
Official Admits Witnessing Approximately Six Persecution Deaths of Falun Gong Practitioners at the Zibo Forced Labour Camp in Shandong Province
2007-04-25According to information provided by a team leader at Zibo Forced Labour Camp, the labour camp had put clothes on five or six deceased Falun Gong practitioners who died from being persecuted. The following contains information about the practitioners who were persecuted at the labour camp. The labour camp does not allow seriously ill people to seek treatment at outside hospitals. In March 2006, one person was sick for a long time and was not allowed to go to the hospital. He ended being carried by several people to the clinic for some medication, and he died few days later. -
Six Practitioners Sentenced in Shanghai
2007-04-25In late March 2007, the Xuhui District Court in Shanghai sentenced six Falun Dafa practitioners. Ms. Bai Gendi was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, Mr. Zhou Licheng to six years, Ms. You Xiuyun received a six and a half year sentence, Ms. Wang Guifang three and a half years, and Ms. Zhou Qin and Ms. Yuan Xiufang each received two years, with two years suspended. In the court session on March 24th, 2007, the primary evidence for the charges against these six practitioners were nearly 500 unmailed letters to Shanghai government officials asking them not to involve themselves in the persecution against Falun Gong, and printed copies of the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party found at Ms. You Xiuyun's home. -
Baimalong Forced Labour Camp in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province Detains Falun Dafa Practitioner Ms. Zhu Guilin Past the Legal Limit
2007-04-24In February 2001, Ms. Zhu Guilin was arrested at home and taken to a detention centre by the 610 Office. She held a hunger strike to protest her unjust detainment and persecution. After her initial detainment, Ms. Zhu was sent to the Psychiatric Section of the Shimen City People's Hospital and injected with unknown nerve-damaging drugs. As a result, she displayed symptoms of dementia and she could not sit or stand. On October 8th, 2004, Ms. Zhu Guilin was arrested again and was sentenced to a two-and-a-half-year-term in the Baimalong Forced Labour Camp. She held a hunger strike from January to March 2007, and was brutally force-fed and injected with unknown drugs many times. The Baimalong Forced Labour Camp still refuses to release Zhu Guilin. -
I Was Tortured and Forced into Slave Labour at Jinan First Female Prison in Shandong Province
2007-04-24I was abducted to Jinan First Female Prison in October of 2002. Due to worrying about my being enslaved and tortured, my mother-in-law passed away on December 5th that year. We were forced to do intense labour such as making clothes and sewing. The director of the fourth division Xu forced us to work in the basement, which was very humid. The conditions were terrible. My rheumatism, which had been cured through practising Falun Gong, recurred under such harsh conditions. We were forced to work from 7:00 a.m. to 1:00 or 2:00 a.m. the next morning. The earliest quitting time was 12:00 a.m. Besides meal and toilet breaks, we worked non-stop. -
Latest Persecution News Regarding Practitioners from Chang'an No. One Factory Area in Chongqing City
2007-04-24Practitioner Mr. Xiang Shihua was transferred to the Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. For the past few years, Mr. Xiang's whole family has been persecuted severely by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In 2002, his wife, Ms. Luo Peiping, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for distributing Falun Gong materials. Their son, Xiang Dong, was sentenced to three years in prison for distributing Falun Gong materials. During his detention in the Banan District Detention Centre, Xiang Dong was persecuted until he was paralysed. -
Cruel Abuse at Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province - Beatings and Electric Shock Torture
2007-04-22At the end of 2002, when I was detained at Kaiping Labour Camp, I met a female practitioner who had been transferred from Gaoyang Labour Camp. Her hair was cut extremely short by camp authorities, even shorter than a man's short hairstyle. She was timid and anxious, watching everyone cautiously and distrustfully. She didn't address anyone speaking to her directly. It could be clearly seen that she has been beaten and tortured. When she took a shower, I saw she had large areas of bruises on her body. They clamped electrodes from a field-radio generator to her toes and shocked her internal organs so fiercely that her vital organs felt unbearable pain. -
Ghastly and Terrifying Shijiazhuang City Forced Labour Camp in Hebei Province
2007-04-22I was sentenced to three years of forced labour in November 2000 for distributing leaflets exposing the persecution. Once, late at night, I was awakened and taken to an office. They pulled off my trousers and started to beat my buttocks with rubber sticks. When they finished, they called for another practitioner. One by one we all suffered brutal beatings. When we were sent back, we couldn't lay on our backs to sleep at all. All practitioners in our cell suffered beatings. Then they beat the practitioners in other cells. A few days later, when we took showers, every practitioners' buttocks were covered with dark purple bruises, which frightened the other inmates and made them feel sympathy for us. -
The Crimes Committed in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp in Zibo City, Shandong Province
2007-04-21Captain Zheng Wanxin once tortured practitioners by whipping them, abusing them, lying to them and humiliating them. He told steadfast practitioners, “I won't let you eat and instead you will be force-fed.” He threatened practitioners who were tortured badly and in serious condition by spreading the words, “Take them to the bottom of a mountain, dig a hole and bury them!” Administrator Luo Guangrong and Deputy Captain Sun Fengjun hung practitioner Mr. Xu Qiuyun in the air, brutally beat him and shocked him with electric batons for several hours, until they got too tired and were hardly able to catch their breath. Guard Zhang Yuhua had beaten practitioner Mr. Wang Weigao so badly that Mr. Wang could not talk, walk, or take care of himself, and felt chest pain and as if cold air were coming out of his body. -
The Qianjin Forced Labour Camp in Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province Hides Continuing Persecution of Dafa Practitioners
2007-04-21Guard Zhang Bo brings to Qianjin the persecution methods used in the Wanjia Forced Labour Camp. Guards force Dafa practitioners to swear at Teacher [Teacher Li Hongzhi, the founder of Falun Dafa] and Dafa every morning. They incite criminal prisoners to persecute practitioners. They also force Dafa practitioners to slander Teacher and Dafa under oath. If a practitioner does not swear an oath or her voice is too low, the guards will try to force her to do so loudly. Otherwise, the prisoners will not be dismissed or not be allowed to sleep. Often all members of the group will be physically punished, including the criminals. The guards aim to create hatred in the criminals towards practitioners. -
Ms. Zhao Limei Taken to Brainwashing Centre in Hebei Province
2007-04-21Li County 610 Office agents abducted Ms. Zhao Limei from her workplace on April 6th, 2007. They put Ms. Zhao in handcuffs and then took her to the Xiaobailou Brainwashing Centre in Baoding City. Cui Wukui, Assistant Principal of TV University and two teachers attempted to brainwash Ms. Zhao. Ms. Zhao demanded to be released. She didn’t eat anything all day. A physical examination revealed that Ms. Zhao had high blood pressure and a rapid heart rate. In the evening the people from the university took her back home. At her doorway the villains tried to take Ms. Zhao’s keys, and she was injured in the struggle. Ms. Zhao Limei was forced into a divorce, and her mother, who’s in her seventies, suffered a lot due to the persecution. -
Family of Five Arrested in Qingdao City, Shandong Province for Practising Falun Dafa
2007-04-20On October 16th, 2006, at around 6:00 a.m., Falun Dafa practitioner Ms. Li Xue was awakened by the sound of someone pounding on her door. Local 610 Office personnel and public security police officers, totalling around 16, forced their way in and ransacked her house. The confiscated a computer, CD-burner, copy machine, fax machine and personal items. At the same time, they arrested 30-year-old Li Xue and her father Mr. Li Yuzhen. On the following day they also arrested Li Xue's sister Li Mei and her older brother Li Jun. -
Unjust Trial Held by Officials of Guta District, Jinzhou City, Liaoning Province
2007-04-19Falun Dafa practitioner Mr. Zhang Lifeng was sentenced by the District Court in Jinzhou City. His family and friends appealed to the Jinzhou City Intermediate Court. They met with Chief Judge Deng Jilin (male) and juror member Li Yuhui (male), and told them that Mr. Zhang had benefited from practising Falun Dafa both mentally and physically. Under extraordinary courage, he distributed the Nine Commentaries on the Communist Party and risked his life to tell people the truth. His actions exercised a citizen's right to freedom of speech as defined in the constitution.
