Mr. Gong Yuping from Shandong Province Sent to Wangcun Forced Labour Camp

On June 1st, 2009, six policemen broke into 55-year-old Mr. Gong Yuping's home without warning while he was taking care of his grandson. They arrested him and several days later sentenced him to one year of forced labour. He is now in Wangcun Forced Labour Camp. In the afternoon of the same day, Mr. Gong's family went to the Jiangshan Police Station to ask for his release, but officers drove them away. Nine days after Mr. Gong was detained, he was sentenced to one year of forced labour. -
Four Practitioners Tried in Lanzhou City
2009-08-23On August 3rd, 2009, the Political and Judiciary Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), brought four Falun Gong practitioners to the Chengguan District Court for a trial. These practitioners have been held in the No. 1 Detention Centre in Lanzhou since August 2008. They were tried once before in the same court, on December 29th, 2008. Five months later they were sentenced, but their sentences were not made public. Recently, the court wanted to re-try them, saying it was because "the facts were not clear and the evidence was insufficient." -
Many Practitioners in Panjin City, Liaoning Province Arrested, Harassed and Homes Ransacked
2009-08-22On July 21st, 2009, Huang Haiou and Chen Dongjiu, the Deputy Head of the Xinglongtai District Police Department's Domestic Security Division in Panjin City, Liaoning Province, organized about ten officials to break into Ms. Zhai Xiuhua's house and arrested her. The police subsequently ransacked her house and stole many personal belongings including computers and videos. Ms. Zhai Xiuhua is currently held at the Panjin City Detention Centre. In addition, many practitioners in the area have been arrested and harassed. -
Tumuji Forced Labour Camp Celebrates 50th Anniversary by Torturing Falun Gong Practitioners
2009-08-21The authorities at the Tumuji Forced Labour Camp celebrated the camp's fiftieth anniversary on June 29th, 2009. They invited many personnel from other units to visit. During the celebration, the guards from this labour camp brutally tortured Falun Gong practitioners. Female guard Zhou Guoling held a meeting in advance to order practitioners to wear prison uniforms and then clean vegetables. In doing so, the guards were to avoid letting the practitioner detainees meet up with the visitors. In order to protest the persecution, for a period of time the Falun Gong practitioners had not worn prison uniforms, and they had refused to participate or cooperate with anything. The guards forcefully stripped the practitioners and even removed their underpants and bras, forcing them to wear only the prison uniform. -
Ms. Yuan Shuzhe Barbarically Persecuted in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2009-08-21On March 31st, 2005, policemen took Ms. Yuan Shuzhe, a Falun Gong practitioner who had been detained in the Shenyang City Detention City for forty days, to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. The police pushed Ms. Yuan to the ground. She shouted, "Falun Gong is good!" and "Stop the persecution of Falun Gong!" He stuffed a dirty sock into her mouth and stomped on her head. In Masanjia, because Ms. Yuan Shuzhe refused to do hard labour, a policewoman called her into her office and struck her face and kicked her head. -
Practitioners Arrested for Helping an Elderly Heart Patient
2009-08-2174-year-old Mr. Fan experienced heart failure and was taken to the intensive care unit in hospital. They told Mr. Fan's family that his condition was both critical and incurable. He chose to return home. Some of Mr. Fan's friends who were Falun Gong practitioners went to see him. They had experienced Falun Gong's extraordinary power to make people healthy and fit, so they suggested that Mr. Fan read the Falun Gong book, Zhuan Falun. He agreed. Mr. Fan experienced a complete recovery without any medical treatment. On July 21st ten police officers burst into Mr. Fan's home and arrested the four practitioners. The police have still offered no justification for the arrests. -
Three Sisters from the Putuo District of Shanghai Arrested and Forced to Undergo Brainwashing
2009-08-20Falun Gong practitioners Ms. Guo Yueqin, Ms. Guo Yuefen and Ms. Guo Yuefang are sisters, all over 60 years old. On May 25th, 2009, policemen went to elder sister Ms.Guo Yueqin's home, ransacked it, and arrested her two young sisters, Ms. Guo Yuefen and Ms. Guo Yuefang. The sisters were then taken to the police station. Currently, Ms. Guo Yuefen is still imprisoned. Ms. Guo Yuefang was released on bail, but later she was taken to a brainwashing centre operated by the local residential committee. Prior to her arrest, Ms. Guo Yuefang invited an attorney from Beijing to represent her sister Ms. Guo Yuefen. This now cannot happen because Ms. Guo Yuefeng is being subjected to brainwashing. -
Cui Junchen's Family in Wucheng County, Shandong Province Persecuted For Ten Years
2009-08-19On July 20th, 2009, more than 20 police officers intruded into Falun Gong practitioner Mr. Cui Junchen's home and arrested him and his daughter. In the last ten years Mr. Cui's home was ransacked seven times. Between the family members, there were 13 arrests and imprisonments. Mr. Cui was sent to forced labour for two years. He lost several hundred thousands of yuan in his business of forestry. His mother died because of the persecution. His wife was sent to 18 months of forced labour. Tens of thousands of yuan was extorted from the family. -
Sixteen-year-old Miss Sun Xinjuan Detained in Tancheng County, Shandong Province
2009-08-19In late July 2009, police arrested sixteen-year-old Miss Sun Xinjuan because she distributed materials about Falun Gong. She is currently detained at Linyi City Brainwashing Centre. During the summer exam, Miss Sun took some leaflets exposing the persecution of Falun Gong from her mother to leave at school for her teachers and fellow students to take. She hoped that they could learn the truth and not be misled by the Chinese Communist Party's fabricated lies and propaganda. An administrator found the materials. The school authorities took her to the police station. Her parents were also arrested and sent to a detention centre. -
Ms. Dang Huiying, 53, Persecuted at Three Different Forced Labour Camps
2009-08-18Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Dang Huiying had been successively held at the Baoding Forced Labour Camp, the Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp and the Gaoyang Forced Labour Camp, and persecuted for six years just for speaking out for justice for Falun Gong to the government. She said about her experience: "In Shijiazhuang Women's Forced Labour Camp, I was forced to be "transformed". The guards force fed me with chilli mixed with essential balm, alkali and salt, which hurt so much that I couldn't help yelling. I once saw the guards pry open the teeth of Ms. Zhang Rongjie. She refused to open her mouth, so the guards pulled four of her front teeth out with pliers. Blood filled her mouth; her screams spread throughout the whole women's labour camp." -
Taiwanese Falun Gong Practitioner Forcibly Taken Away While Visiting Relatives in China
2009-08-16Because she practises Falun Gong, Ms. Shao Yuhua, a permanent resident of Taiwan, was forcibly taken away by agents from the Chinese Communist Party National Security Bureau on the morning of July 31st, 2009. She had travelled to China to visit relatives in Nanyang, Henan Province. Her whereabouts remain unknown. According to Ms. Xiao, who lives in the same city, agents from the National Security Bureau first deceived Ms. Shao with a phone call and coerced her into leaving her sister's home. They then forcibly took her away and searched her sister's home, confiscating her money, passport and luggage. They then took away Shao Yuhua's sister Shao Yuxiu as well. -
More and More Righteous Voices Being Heard in the Courts
2009-08-16On July 8th, 2009, the Shuangliu County Court in Chengdu held a trial for Falun Gong practitioner Deng Xiaoming. Xie Yanyi and Li Fuchun, lawyers from Beijing, entered a "not guilty" plea for Mr. Deng. During the trial Xie Yanyi advised all those involved in persecuting Falun Gong in the judicial system to stop immediately. Lawyer Xie Yanyi completed his plea after being interrupted twenty times by Judge Yu Rong. Xie accused the judicial department of committing five crimes by illegally bringing Deng Xiaoming to trial, including perjury, abuse of authority, perverting the course of justice by prosecution, perverting the course of justice by trial, and subversion of the state's authority. In the end, the public prosecutor sentenced Deng Xiaoming to six and a half years imprisonment on no legal grounds and without reasonable cause. -
Ms. Wang Meiying Tortured to Death and Her Younger Sister Now Detained
2009-08-15Falun Gong practitioner Ms. Wang Baoying, was arrested and taken to the County Detention Centre on the evening of July 22nd, 2009. Earlier, in March, Ms. Wang's older sister, Ms. Wang Meiying was arrested while she was distributing informational materials about the persecution of Falun Gong and taken to a labour camp. While at the camp, she was force-fed, which caused the failure of her right lung. Ms. Wang Meiying died as a result of persecution in the Forced Labour Camp in Jinan City, Shandong Province on March 23rd, 2009. -
The Harbin City 610 Office Manipulates the Judicial System and Sentences Ms. Li Feng to Nine Years in Prison
2009-08-15On August 2008, police from the Harbin City Heilongjiang Province arrested Falun Gong practitioner Li Feng at her grocery shop. Her family hired a lawyer for her. The lawyer pleaded not guilty and presented convincing evidence of her innocence. However, the court sentenced her to nine years in prison. Li Feng's family hired lawyer Wei Liangyue to defend her. Lawyer Wei was a former director of the Jiaodian Law Firm in Heilongjiang Province. He was forced to resign because he submitted not-guilty pleas on behalf of Falun Gong practitioners. In the annual review in 2009, the Heilongjiang Judiciary Bureau directed by the 610 Office threatened that none of the lawyers of the law firm could register as lawyers if Wei did not resign from the director position. -
Mr. Li Shaotie Tortured in Two Forced Labour Camps
2009-08-14Mr. Li Shaotie, 56 years old and a Falun Gong practitioner has been arrested several times because he didn't give up practising Falun Gong. Three of his four immediate family members were imprisoned. Mr. Li Shaotie recounts: "While I was detained in the Jiamusi Forced Labour Camp, police officers and detainees beat and cursed me frequently. Officials in the labour camp used several torture methods and one of them was called the "iron chair." Once, I was tortured this way for three consecutive weeks. When they released my arms and legs, I couldn't even walk. In the labour camp, practitioners were constantly subjected to all kinds of torture, such as electric batons, the iron chair and the "dead person's bed.""
