Torture Methods Used at the Masanjia Forced Labour Camp

On November 5th, 2008, the prison guards at the Masanjia camp tried to use force on the practitioners, who had refused to write the three statements to renounce Falun Gong. As they still did not compromise, they were subjected to a torture called "stretching." In this torture method, handcuffs are used to secure the victim's hands and legs to two bed frames; the guards then stretch the person in four directions. The guards shouted, "If Liu Cheng still refuses to write the three statements, we will chop off one of his legs." -
Falun Gong Practitioners Severely Persecuted at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2009-04-26Because she refused to renounce Falun Gong, practitioner Ms. Jia Yahui was blindfolded and then shocked with electric batons by guards at Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. The guards tried to brutally force her to put her fingerprint on a document renouncing Falun Gong. Another time, when Ms. Jia shouted "Falun Gong is wonderful!" they hung her up by her handcuffed wrists and cruelly tortured her. Another practitioner, who also did not cooperate is Ms. Zhang Min, age 49. Because she refused to sign a form renouncing Falun Gong, she was beaten until her face and entire body was badly bruised and swollen. -
Crimes Committed by Hewan Forced Labour Camp in Wuhan City
2009-04-21In September 2000, I was arrested by police and taken to Hewan Forced Labour Camp. They ordered other inmates to cut my hair. I saw other inmates' hair that had been cut; it was a mess. Some Falun Gong practitioners' hair had been cut half and half, where if their heads were viewed from behind, half of their head would have long hair and the other half would show strips of scalp, it was a complete mess. This was done to humiliate practitioners. All the things my family sent to me, including blanket, coats, winter shoes and boots, all of them were soaked in water before they were given to me. -
Ms. Lu Shuling Develops Mental Disorder Due to Torture at the Hefei Women's Forced Labour Camp
2009-04-04On February 28th, 2009, personnel at the Hefei Women's Forced Labour Camp informed Ms. Lu Shuling's family that Lu Shuling had schizophrenia, and requested that they come and get her. When she got home on March 1st, she did not even recognize her own daughter! Falun Gong practitioners detained in the camp were made to work in the workshop from 5:00 a.m. until past 9:00 p.m. every day. Since April 2008, practitioners in the labour camp have been forced to manufacture computer connecting wires. In summer, there is a toxic smell everywhere in the workshop, but prison wardens in the labour camp disregard the workers' safety to make high profits. After Lu Shuling had finished each full day of work, she was forced to stand until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. -
More Than 100 Male Falun Gong Practitioners Held and Tortured in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp
2009-03-27Guards tortured practitioners and forced them to write statements to denounce Falun Gong. Those who refused to write the statements were tortured at night. The perpetrators threatened them, saying, "You will be killed if you do not write the statements. We have a death quota." The victims are tortured non-stop without being allowed to sleep. Practitioner Mr. Li Hailong suffered so much that he could not walk and could not get himself to the dining room without two persons to support him. Two months later, he remains in this condition. Mr. Cui Dejun was crippled from torture, but the guards insisted that he was pretending and grabbed his hair and slammed his head against a wall. Later, he was subjected to the death bed torture. -
Abuse of Falun Gong Practitioners Detained in Shiliping Forced Labour Camp in Zhejiang Province - Compilation of Information Dating Back to 1999
2009-03-26To achieve its goal of "reforming1" all detained practitioners, Zhejiang Provincial Forced Labour Bureau personnel worked together with the labour camp to develop a series of tactics to physically and mentally harm practitioners. For instance, they forced practitioners to sit in a chair with their limbs tied to it and wouldn't let them sleep or use the toilet. At the same time, they turned on a speaker to its highest volume and broadcast their propaganda information. If a practitioner dozed off he would be burned with a cigarette and force-fed hot chilli pepper juice. They also forced practitioners to write statements giving up their cultivation and kept whoever refused to write them tied to the chair for a long time. -
Recent Cruel Torture of Falun Gong Practitioners in Tumuji Forced Labour Camp, Inner Mongolia
2009-03-12On January 23rd, 2009, practitioner Mr. Wang Zhanqing was summoned by section head Li Shaomin for a so-called "conversation." After Wang Zhanqing explained the facts of Falun Gong to him Li Shaomin shocked him with an electric baton. Wang Zhanqing took away the baton, and Huang Zigang beat him with a rubber club. Later Li Xinbao used handcuffs to restrain Mr. Wang. They shocked him with two electric batons and beat him with a rubber club. His back and buttocks were beaten black and purple. His head and many parts of his body were covered with burn marks from being shocked with the electric batons. Even getting in and out of bed became very difficult, and Wang Zhanqing had to sleep face-down. -
Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp Has Kept Ms. Li Xiuhong Constantly Tied-up for Eight Months
2009-03-09In Heizuizi Women's Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City, Jilin Province, the wardens have had Ms. Li Xiuhong tied up around the clock for eight months in order to prevent her from practising the Falun Gong exercises. The wardens also ordered her family to try to persuade her to stop practising Falun Gong because her health has declined rapidly due to the torture (the labour camp won't stop the torture unless she gives up her practice). Her family insists that her poor health is caused by the torture in the labour camp rather than her practising, so the family has refused to do what the wardens want. -
Henan Women's Forced Labour Camp Establishes "Small Cells" to Torture Practitioners
2009-03-08The Third Division at Shibalihe Women's Forced Labour Camp in Henan Province is a facility that was established for mistreating practitioners. On February 3rd, 2009, the Third Division established seven small cells to be used specifically for brainwashing practitioners. Each cell holds one practitioner. The head of the labour camp, wardens, and guards are responsible for the brainwashing. Two drug addict inmates are assigned to monitor and torture each practitioner. The practitioners are forced to sit on small narrow stools from early morning until midnight for one month. If practitioners refuse to give up their belief, they are transferred to the Xinxiang Women's Prison in Henan Province. -
Products Produced in Handan Forced Labour Camp Using Forced Labour
2009-03-05Xiao Dong, who was forced to package chopsticks in the Handan Labour Camp, said, "I will never use the supposedly sterile chopsticks when I am released. During the hot summer when we work, we sweat all over. Some people intentionally scratch themselves with the chopsticks and then put the chopsticks covered with sweat into the bags. One time I caught a cold and had a runny nose. I know I dripped on the chopsticks, which were then packaged. Some inmates wear slippers and insert the chopsticks between their toes before packaging them into the bags." -
Falun Gong Practitioners Brutally Persecuted at Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp in Jilin Province
2009-03-04When Mr. Zhang Guosheng first entered Yinmahe Forced Labour Camp on April 29th, 2008, he was subjected to various forms of torture including electric shock, being hung up by the handcuffs, and severe beatings by multiple people for long periods of time. One evening, chief Zhao Yunfu of the "Strictly Disciplined Team" asked several inmates to help force steadfast practitioners to give up their beliefs, starting with Mr. Shao. Two inmates brutally attacked Mr. Shao for more than six hours, using their knees, elbows, and fists to strike him repeatedly. -
Falun Gong Practitioners in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp Tortured During the Olympics
2009-03-02Guards in Masanjia Forced Labour Camp used electric batons, hung practitioners using handcuffs, physically abused them, and made them to stand for long periods of time. They employed a military management style, forcing practitioners to stand in lines under the burning sun. The practitioners were ordered to practise yelling slogans, sing Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and labour camp songs, and recite the thirty labour camp rules before and after each meal. If practitioners didn't cooperate, they were left in the burning sun or tortured. Some practitioners were tortured until they lost the ability to take care of themselves, became mentally unstable, had heart attacks, or were no longer able to stand. -
Practitioner In Her Sixties Persecuted at the Liaoning Province Women's Prison
2009-02-08In 2001, I was arrested while distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong. The following year I was sentenced to a three-year prison term and incarcerated in Liaoning Province Women's Prison. The prison enforced starting work at six in the morning, stopping at ten in the evening, and going to sleep at eleven. Prisoners were frequently forced to work overtime to create more income for the prison. I was allowed only three to four hours of sleep each night. Every week the prison provided only two meals of fine flour and rice in limited quantities. The rest of the meals were all coarse bread. -
Exposing the Persecution at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp
2009-02-04After extensive investigation, we have learned of the following incidents of persecution of Falun Gong practitioners at Wangcun Forced Labour Camp: Mr. Li Gang was hung by his handcuffed wrists in a toilet for seven consecutive days. The guards didn't allow him to close his eyes during this period. Mr. Gao Hong was forced to sit on a narrow bench, and not allowed to blink for six days. On the seventh day, the guards turned the bench upside down and forced him to sit on the tips of the bench legs. Mr. Xue Cunlin was handcuffed and hung up for several days. During this period, guards used sticks to forcefully jab into his rib cage for two hours. -
Crimes Committed in the Zaozihe Forced Labour Camp in Shaanxi Province
2009-01-26The "transformation class" in Zaozihe Forced Labour Camp is a brainwashing class, and its chair Yang Jun, is the general chief for persecuting Falun Gong practitioners in the camp. Under his guidance, guards mentally torture practitioners who refuse to recant their beliefs. Practitioners are forced to stand all night long. They are deprived of the right to sleep, hung up with rope tied through handcuffs,and locked up in small cells. The guards cruelly beat practitioners, and even soak them in a big water vat to freeze them in the winter. The guards also arrange prisoners convicted on drug charges to beat practitioners after covering their heads with cotton blankets.
