  • Denmark: The Chinese Embassy has Unreasonably Denied my Passport Application

    The clerk said: “We cannot grant your application”, and then returned my old passport and application form. When I asked him why this was so, he said that it was because I practise Falun Gong, which is illegal in China. He also mentioned that it is China’s policy not to process passport applications that are filed by Falun Gong practitioners. When I asked him to give me a written explanation, he said: “Apart from an oral notification, I cannot provide you with any document.”

    Before boarding the plane, Mrs. Svensson read out a statement that she had written earlier that day.     Practitioners held a peaceful appeal in front of the Chinese embassy in Budapest. One Embassy official came and tried to drive us away and called the police. When the police arrived and heard his ridiculous demands, they laughed and did not take them seriously. One officer said, “They are just sitting here in meditation. How are these people disturbing you?”
  • Holland Theme Park Mangament Refuses to Bow Under Pressure from Jiang's Regime

    The People's Republic of China has urged the theme park Mondo Verde in Landgraaf, The Netherlands not to allow Falun Gong practitioners to take part in their 'Asian Week'. The Manager refused to do this and pointed out that the former Dutch Minister for Foreign Affairs Van Aartsen has stood up for Falun Gong, as well as Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch.

    Mrs. Svensson from Sweden doing the Falun Gong exercises at Suan Pluh Immigration Detention Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. She has now been detained for more than three weeks, without being given a reason for her detention.
  • Swedish Government Shows Concern over Ms Pirjo Svensson and Negotiates with Thai authorities for her Release

    In an effort to obtain “an immediate explanation” for her arrested and the cancellation of her Visa, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sweden and the Swedish Embassy in Bangkok have formally contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand. TV, radio and some major newspapers in Sweden have also reported the incident, and have emphasized that Ms Svensson is innocent. At present, the Swedish government is actively negotiating with the Thai government to help Ms Svensson regain her freedom.

    'Xiong Wei studied economics from 1993 to 1999 at Berlin Technical University...On 5 January 2002, while she was in Beijing distributing materials about the persecution of Falun Gong, the police arrested her. In March she was, without due process, sentenced to one and a half years of "Re-education through labour" in the Xinan Female forced labour camp in Beijing, which is well known for its cruel methods of torture.'

    Both the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Swedish Embassy in Thailand expressed serious concern over the detention and possible deportation of Mrs. Svensson and demanded an immediate explanation from the Thai Foreign Ministry. Shocked by news of Mrs. Svensson's arrest, Swedish media headlined the story in several newspapers.

You may have heard already heard of how an eight-month-old baby was tortured to death together with his 30-year-old mother because his mother practised Falun Gong. Brutal persecution against this group of peaceful and kind-hearted people is happening every day, every hour and every minute. I also fear that I will be subjected to similar persecution should I be forced to return to China."
  • Swedish Practitioner Detained in Thailand Without Cause, Swedish Government Demands Immediate Explanation

    On April 29 2003, the Thai police searched the residence of Mrs. Pirjo Svensson, a Swedish citizen and Falun Gong practitioner. They arrested Mrs. Svensson and sent her to the Immigration Office, where she was told that she would be deported. Mrs. Svensson firmly refused. This is yet another example of the Jiang regime's extending its persecution of Falun Gong overseas.
  • German Practitioners Increase their Efforts to Rescue Xiong Wei

    Since Xiong Wei was illegally imprisoned, German practitioners have launched a series of appeals to rescue her, which have been widely reported by the media in Germany. The German government has also paid close attention to this matter. During Jiang’s visit to Germany in 2002, German Foreign Minister Joschka Fischer handed Jiang a letter urging the Chinese government to release several innocent people, including Xiong Wei.
