My name is Pei Fei and I am a Falun Gong practitioner from Jilin City, Jilin Province. On April 29th, 2009, my mother, also a practitioner, and I went to the Sixth Team in Yongqing to distribute Falun Gong materials. We were reported to the authorities by a young woman and were arrested by several government officials dressed in black, some of whom were police officers. Our materials were confiscated, and I was savagely beaten. They also attempted to send me to Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City.

We were taken to Dachangtun Police Station in the Fengman District. Right after we got out of the vehicle, a heavily built man came up and punched me in the head and cursed at my mother, who is in in her 70s. I asked him why he beat me and what his name was. We never saw him again.

The authorities separated and interrogated us. I told them only about Falun Gong. The police officer who was taking notes (they called him Liang Zi) kept asking me questions. Because I did not say anything he wanted, he left the room. Another policeman (badge number 204029) entered the room and cursed at me. Realizing I was not going to tell him what he wanted to know, he slapped my face hard. I suddenly felt something hit my back and the back of my head very hard. When I looked behind me, I saw a tall policeman.

I asked him, "How come you, a policemen in charge of doing what is right, can illegally beat people?" He lied, "I am not a policeman." I said to the other police officer, "He hit me." He replied, "I didn't see anything." Later, a third policeman came in, shouted at me, slapped my face, and forced me to stand. Later I learned that he was police chief Ye Jianmin. Then the policeman they called Liang Zi came in again to ask more questions and take notes. I still kept telling him about Falun Gong. During the interrogation, a person who claimed to be Director Sun of Fengman Police Station's 610 Office [an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong] came in and told me he would deal with me one way or another.

The authorities used my mother's name to search on the Internet, got some information about me, and notified my family. After five o'clock in the afternoon, I felt weak and could not withstand the interrogation anymore. My mother did not feel well, either. The authorities told us that they would take us for a medical check-up. Instead, they took us to a police branch and concocted evidence for a 15-day detention. The officers included a policeman called Yan Suo, one surnamed Li, and three more.

We were taken to the hospital at eight o'clock that night. My electrocardiogram was abnormal, and I could not help shivering. After nine o'clock, we were taken to Jilin City Detention Centre. The detention centre doctor on duty checked me over and said that everything was okay, that I was faking the symptoms. As a result, the center admitted me. During my detention, officer Liang Zi and Wang Liqun, a policeman from the Law Enforcement Division of Fengman Police Station, interrogated me. I resisted and did not cooperate. They told me that they would sentence me to a year and a half of forced labour. Later, I could not stop shivering and had chest pain and an abnormal heart rate. One the 11th day of my detention, my symptoms became very severe, so the detention center authorities telephoned the police station and requested a medical exam for me. They discovered a large lump in my uterine wall. The hospital recommended release on bail for medical treatment. However, the authorities later revoked the decision to allow bail and demanded a second diagnosis at the detention centre's own hospital. Since I could not walk on my own, my younger brother had to carry me up and down the stairs for the different medical exams. After a few days, the authorities demanded yet another opinion, saying that the previous one was not done with a policeman present. After the third exam, the authorities insisted that I be taken to Heizuizi Forced Labour Camp in Changchun City. As I was extremely weak and could not walk, they dragged me back and forth to get the exams required prior to admission to the forced labor camp. Eventually, based on the medical evidence, they could not admit me to the labour camp and had to release me.
