United States: Legislators Welcome Shen Yun Performing Arts Back to Florida

Shen Yun Performing Arts' return to Florida was warmly welcomed with letters of greeting from federal, state, and local officials, including Gov. Charlie Crist and US Sens. Bill Nelson and George S. LeMieux. Authorities acclaimed the world-renowned show as it returned to the state for its third consecutive year.

U.S. Rep. Gus Bilirakis (9th District) congratulated "all who took part in bringing this spectacular show to the St. Petersburg area."

"Shen Yun Performing Arts ... is the world's premier Chinese dance and music company," State Rep. Bill Heller wrote. "For the viewing audience, their talents will immerse you in a world of extraordinary beauty, valor and splendor."

St. Petersburg City Council member Jeff Danner wrote: "Your world-class show, combining exceptional artistic talent and classical Chinese dance with dazzling, multi-coloured costumes, and the outstanding music of the Shen Yun Orchestra, delivers a truly breathtaking performance."

Also welcoming Shen Yun to the Tampa Bay area were Pam Iorio, mayor of Tampa; Tom Barnhorn, Seminole city councillor, who has attended Shen Yun performances for the past two years; and Kevin White, commissioner of Hillsborough County. Mr. White, in a letter, appreciated the "enchanting glimpse into Chinese cultural heritage" and the dedication to "preserving history and tradition.
