Practitioner Mr. Yuan Yicheng and his daughter Yuan Xiaolan from Jiedong County, Guangdong Province were arrested by police in September 2009. The father has been detained for over three months, and the police have refused to release either of them.

Officers from the Baita Police Station picked up Yuan Yicheng and his wife at 3:00 p.m. on September 21st, 2009, and then ransacked the couple's home. When his wife was found to be in poor health, the police had to release her. That afternoon, daughter Yuan Xiaolan was deceived by a police officer and also taken into custody.

Mr. Yuan Yicheng has been detained at the Jiedong Detention Centre for over three months. One month ago the authorities issued a formal arrest warrant to Yuan Xiaolan, who was already detained. She was transferred to Jiedong County Detention Centre.

When Yuan Xiaolan's husband asked the police to release his wife, they told him that she would be released if she identified all other practitioners involved in producing Falun Gong informational materials. When the police ransacked their home and confiscated the wife's computer, they found Falun Gong articles and materials exposing the persecution of Falun Gong on the hard drive. Thus, they suspected that Yuan Yicheng's home was a materials production site. They are holding Yuan Xiaolan hostage to get information about other practitioners.
