Older Practitioner Ms. Deng Kuiying Died One Year Ago in Custody after Being in a Vegetative State

Ms. Deng Kuiying was arrested for the first time on March 8th, 2006, when distributing leaflets exposing the persecution and telling people the facts about Falun Gong and was detained for more than one month in the Haidian District Detention Centre in Beijing. Upon her release, her former employer sent her to a forced brainwashing centre for more than six months. She continued to be closely monitored after her release in October 2006.

At the beginning of June 2007, Ms. Deng was arrested for the second time when passing out Falun Gong leaflets in a store, and was sentenced to two years of forced labour in the Beijing Forced Labour Camp. She was deprived of her visitation rights for more than one month, until she was tortured to a vegetative state. When her family finally saw her, she was unconscious and had a very weak heartbeat.

After suffering one year in the hospital, Ms. Deng died on September 6th, 2008.
