At approximately 10:00 a.m. on August 19th, 2009, Hu Shuzhi, Chief of the 610 Office1 of Huangpo District, Wuwen City, Hubei Province, led a dozen men to Ms. Li Juhua's home, took her away, and detained her for almost fifty days. During this time, they gave no information to her family as to her whereabouts.

After Ms. Li's arrest, her family members were very worried for her safety and searched for her in vain. When they visited Hu at the 610 Office, not only did Hu refuse to divulge Ms. Li's whereabouts, he threatened her family members.

On the morning of October 1st, Ms. Li's family suddenly received a phone call from their community council, informing them that Ms. Li has been sentenced to imprisonment in a labour camp for 18 months. The infuriated family members went to the 610 Office to demand an explanation, but because it was a national holiday, they did not obtain a reply.

On the morning of October 9th, Li Juhua's family members once again demanded that Hu release Ms. Li. Hu continued his threatening ways and shouted at them. When he tried to push Ms. Li's sister out by force, Ms. Li's family members joined together and resisted his thuggish behaviour. Under their persistent questioning, Hu finally divulged that Ms. Li has been imprisoned in the Sixth Team of the Hewan Forced Labour Camp in Wuhan City.

Li Junhua has already been imprisoned for over two months. Even though her family members have visited Hewan three times, not to mention countless visits to the 610 Office and Public Security Bureau, they have not been able to see her at all. They have also been unable to obtain any information about her or any details of what she has been subjected to. Left in the dark about her, her family members are constantly worried for her safety.

For her faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance, Li Juhua has suffered countless incidents of persecution by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). In the past ten years, she has been detained twice, sentenced to imprisonment in a labour camp three times, and lost her freedom for a total of four years. Her home was broken into twice by the CCP and her family has endured harassment and numerous threats.

Since becoming the head of the local 610 Office, Hu Shuzhi has committed many heinous crimes against Falun Gong practitioners, including sentencing them to labour in a labour camp, abduction, imprisonment, sending them to brainwashing centres, breaking into their homes, forcing them to write the "Three Statements2", threatening to fire practitioners' children from their jobs, threatening to stop paying pensions to the elderly, ordering his henchmen to harass practitioners at home, and extorting practitioners for money. He has utilised a myriad of despicable and cruel methods to torture Falun Gong practitioners which has resulted in the families of Peng Shimin, Li Juhua and many other practitioners' being broken or having to be live in exile.

Participating department and personnel:

Huangpo District Political and Judicial Committee Deputy Secretary, 610 Office Chief Hu Shuzhi, male in his 50's.

610 Office Deputy Chief Han Guiwu, male in his 50's

Note

1. "The 610 office" is an agency specifically created to persecute Falun Gong, with absolute power over each level of administration in the Party and all other political and judiciary systems.

2. "Three Statements": Practitioners are coerced under brainwashing and torture to write "Repentance Statement," "Guarantee Statement" or 'Dissociation Statement" as proof that they have given up their belief. In the statement, the practitioner is forced to admit remorse for practising Falun Gong, promise to give up Falun Gong, and never again associate with other practitioners or go to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong.
