Mr. Peng Guangrong, a practitioner from Leshan City, Sichuan Province, Died of Persecution in 2003

Mr. Peng Guangrong, 61, was a resident of Liming Village, Luohan Town, Zhong District, Leshan City, Sichuan Province. He was an employee of the Bureau of Railway. After he suffered a head injury at work, he had difficulty using his hands. This forced him into retirement, however he had trouble taking care of himself. He began to practise Falun Gong in 1997, and in no time his injuries and illnesses went away. He was able to take care of himself and help with chores around the house.

In July of 1999 when the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) began to persecute practitioners, Mr. Peng went to Beijing to appeal for Falun Gong and to tell people that,"Falun Gong is good." He was detained at the Quihua Building, Zhong District, Leshan City. In December 2000, he again went to Beijing to tell the public that "Falun Gong is good" and was again detained at Shizhushan Detention Centre of Leshan City.

He actively told the truth about the persecution to his neighbours and villagers after he was released from detention. As a result, Wang Qinjun, a local official in Luohan Town, arrested him several times. He was taken to a Brainwashing Centre, which is like a private prison, run by the township. He was mistreated in the centre, and the local officials withheld his disability-retirement fund. He was detained until his health had deteriorated badly and he had lost a lot of weight. He was released only after his family demanded his release.

After his return, Wang Qiujun constantly sent people to his house to harass him. Mr. Peng died in October, 2003.

Jiang Xiqing Persecuted to Death in Xishanping Forced Labour Camp, His Daughter Arrested for Appealing for Him

After Mr. Jiang Xiqing from Jiangjin, Chongqing City, was persecuted to death in Xishanping Forced Labour Camp, his daughter, Jiang Hong, sought justice through legal means. Officials in the Politics and Law Committee and the 610 Office in Jiangjin did not want to be exposed further, so they orchestrated the arrest of Ms. Jiang.

Ms. Jiang's parents were Falun Gong practitioners in Jiangjin. In May 2008, they were both sentenced. On January 28th, 2009, her father, Jiang Xiqing, died as a result of persecution in Xishanping Forced Labour Camp. The circumstances surrounding his death are unclear. Seven hours after being notified of his death, his family found his body still warm in the freezer. Labour camp officials did not give any reasonable explanation for his death and had his body cremated without his family's consent. They even forged records of a postmortem examination, designated people to monitor and even threaten his family, ransacked their home, and beat the attorney, all to prevent his children from seeking justice for his death.

After Mr. Jiang Xiqing's death, Ms. Jiang Hong; her husband, Xia Buchu; and their uncle, Jiang Dehua, sued all levels of the judiciary and government in Chongqing City. The Politics and Law Committee and the 610 Office searched everywhere to try to find her. They said that if she didn't come back, they would punish her more severely. On June 4th, Wan Fenghua, the secretary of the Politics and Law Committee in Jiangjin, said that if Ms. Jiang did not show up within seven days, they would arrest her.

At around noon on August 28th, 2009, as Ms. Jiang was leaving the New Era Grocery Store on Buxing Street in Yangjiaping with her family, she was arrested by Mu Chaohen from the Jiangjin National Security Team and another five or six others. Her current whereabouts are unknown.

Ms. Jiang Hong, 41 years old, started to practise Falun Gong in1998. She was incarcerated in Chongqing City Women's Prison for three years for telling people the truth about Falun Gong. Released in 2003, she no longer had a job when she got home. Since 2008, she has done accounting for a business in Jiangjin. Her income is just 500 yuan2 a month. In order to keep Mr. Jiang Xiqing's family from seeking justice through legal means, Wan Fenghua, the secretary of the Politics and Law Committee in Jiangjin, has regularly threatened and persecuted his family. They designated people to locate Ms. Jiang Hong and monitored the homes of Ms. Jiang, Jiang Ping, and Jiang Hongbin more closely.
