On the afternoon of July 20th, 2008, Falun Gong practitioners in Peru held an activity in Chinatown, exposing the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) nine-year-long persecution of Falun Gong and calling for an end to the persecution. Many people signed the petition to support the effort to end the persecution.

At 7:00 p.m., the practitioners went to a park in front of the Chinese Embassy and spoke to the officials inside the embassy. Falun Gong spokesperson Su Ying said, "We come here today to commemorate our fellow practitioners who were tortured to death by the CCP during the past nine years for maintaining their belief in Truth-Compassion-Tolerance. Now Falun Gong has spread to over eighty countries. More and more people practise Falun Gong. The CCP not only brutally persecutes Falun Gong in China, but also extends the violence overseas. On May 17th, CCP mobs assaulted Falun Gong practitioners in Flushing, New York and the CCP's mouthpiece fabricated news that Falun Gong interfered with earthquake disaster relief. Evidence showed that the CCP's New York General Consul Peng Keyu was responsible for the incident behind the scenes. Everyone, please do not follow him. Heaven will destroy the CCP. I advise everyone to understand this and renounce the CCP and its affiliated organisations. Everyone, please remember, Falun Dafa is good!'"

The practitioners held a candlelight vigil to commemorate fellow practitioners who lost their lives in the persecution. The event concluded at 7:30 p.m.

The Coalition to Investigate the Persecution of Falun Gong (CIPFG) initiated a "Millions of Signatures Global Campaign" across the world. More than 13,000 people in Peru signed the petition calling for an end to the persecution.
