Mr. Yin Yucai is 76 years old. He is from Duchang County, Jiangxi Province. He started to practise Falun Gong after retirement and became very healthy, both physically and psychologically. After the persecution of Falun Gong started in July 1999, Mr. Yin was detained many times. He was put in a forced labour camp for three years. In 2005, he was sentenced to eight years of imprisonment and is currently in Yuzhang Prison in Jiangxi Province. Due to prolonged persecution, his health has deteriorated. Lately, he is suffering from severe oedema.

Mr. Yin Yucai was born in 1932. He was a government official for many years and worked for different firms, including Duchang County People's Bank, Duchang County Industry Bureau, Duchang County Criminal Court as the presiding judge, and Duchang County Blood Bank as the director. No matter what position he held, he was honest, diligent, sincere, and kind-hearted and was deeply respected by his co-workers and subordinates.

In 1995, he retired from Duchang County Blood Bank. His wife's death left a big void in his life, and he was very lonely. In 1996, he started to practise Falun Gong. As a result, his physical and mental state greatly improved. He benefited a great deal from practising Falun Gong and following the principles of "Truthfulness-Compassion-Tolerance." He became a happy person again, and his face was glowing with health. In order to help more people learn about Falun Gong and benefit from it, he went to neighbouring counties and townships to teach people the practice.

After the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) started to persecute Falun Gong practitioners in1999, this warm-hearted senior citizen was imprisoned several times and tortured and humiliated numerous times. On the morning of July 20th, 1999, Mr. Yin and some elderly people were doing the exercises in a community park. A group of police officers came and took them to the No. 3 Section of the county police department, where the practitioners were forced to write a so-called guarantee statement promising not to practise Falun Gong. They were also slandered and verbally abused.

On July 3rd, 2000, Mr. Yin and several other practitioners went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practise Falun Gong. He was arrested and detained for 35 days, 30 of them spent in the Duchang County Detention Centre. So that more people could understand that the persecution of Falun Gong is a big mistake, in early October 2000, he went to Beijing again. He did the Falun Gong exercises on Tiananmen Square. This time he made it home safely. At the end of 2000, somebody reported him to the police, and Yin Yucai was arrested again by the county National Security Brigade and detained for one week.

From early 2001 through the end of 2003, he was detained in the Jiujiang City Forced Labour Camp, also known as the notorious Majialong Forced Labour Camp. There he was forced to do hard labour, such as making coloured lanterns, assembling quartz clock mechanical cores, as well as enduring endless psychological torture and humiliation.

After he was finally released, Mr. Yin continued to practise Falun Gong at home, but the county policed continued to constantly monitor and harass him. Officers often broke into his home, searched it, and threatened and terrorized him. In 2004, they broke into his home again and took away Falun Gong leaflets exposing the persecution. They held him in the detention centre. Later he was tried and sentenced to eight years of imprisonment on the groundless charge of "disturbing the social order." His lifetime retirement pension was also cancelled.

Mr. Yin Yucai has been detained in Yuchang Prison, Xinjian County, Jiangxi Province, for over three years. He was assigned to the No. 1 Ward, where the warden in charge is Shi Jianjun. The last name of the head of the Education Section is Tong. Due to the long hours of hard labour, which involve his being forced to sew clothes, plus the intense mental and physical tortures, the poor living conditions in the prison, and the bad prison food that lacks nutrition, Mr. Yin's health has deteriorated rapidly. He is suffering from severe oedema.
