June 26th, 2007 was Ukraine Anti-Torture Day. Falun Gong practitioners in Kiev held an event on Independent Square in the city centre disclosing the CCP's eight year cruel persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China.

Just as the event started, there was a downpour. In the heavy rain, practitioners distributed leaflets while holding banners. After a while, it stopped raining and the sun came out.

At the centre of the Square, while re-enacting some of the types of torture Falun Gong practitioners experience in forced labour camps in China, other practitioners gave a commentary on a loud hailer. Many passers-by stopped and talked with practitioners. On seeing Falun Gong practitioners demonstrating the exercises and hearing the traditional-style Chinese Falun Gong music, some people stopped and followed the exercise movements. Many Ukrainians signed the petition against the persecution.

During the event, an elderly man shouted at Falun Gong practitioners, saying how good he thought the CCP was. A man who had just learned the facts came over, peacefully telling the elderly man that the CCP had done many bad deeds in history. In a while, the elderly man cooled down and listened to the facts carefully.
