Dalian City practitioner Ms. Zhou Meihua was arrested in March 2007 for taking part in activities to expose the persecution and was sent to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp, where she was inhumanly tortured. After 4 o'clock on the afternoon of May 29th, 2007, her mother, who is 68, had a stroke and fell down on her way to pick up her grandson from school. Some kind-hearted passers-by sent her to the Dalian City No. 210 Hospital for emergency treatment.

On the evening of May 29th, Ms. Zhou's mother underwent brain surgery in the department of neurosurgery at the hospital and so far, is still in a comatose state. The expenses for her surgery and hospitalisation were shared by her relatives and friends, who also took care of her at the hospital. According to the hospital authorities, if no one continues to pay for her medical expenses, they will stop the current treatment and her situation will be grave. Her friends and neighbours are trying various channels to appeal to Ms. Zhou's father's work unit for humanitarian assistance.

On March 19th, Ms. Zhou was arrested by officers from the Xiuyue Street, Zhongshan District Police Station in Dalian City and was sent to the First Squad of the Third Team in the Women's Second Division of Masanjia Forced Labour Camp. This is the second time Ms. Zhou has been sentenced to forced labour. Her mother not only had to take care of her 8-year-old daughter but also her paralysed father. The heavy workload caused her mother's health to deteriorate gradually over time. In addition, this elderly lady suffered mentally from the fact that her daughter was being inhumanly persecuted in the labour camp, and her son and daughter-in-law had to leave home and wander the streets to avoid persecution. No family members were by her side during the surgery.

The Dalian City 610 Office1, together with the Xiuyue Police Station and other related government offices, detain Falun Gong practitioners and sentence them to forced labour, causing endless pain and suffering to their families. The writers of this article hereby appeal to the international community for a helping hand to condemn and stop these evil deeds and to bring Ms. Zhou Meihua back to her dying mother's side as soon as possible.

According to information from conscientious policemen, practitioners who participate in activities to raise awareness of the persecution are arrested and sent directly to Masanjia Forced Labour Camp by the 610 Office for further persecution.
