Opening of the Photo Exhibition “The Way of Falun Dafa” at the Volks-Hochschule in Wuppertal, Germany

We practitioners in Wuppertal (name of a city in Germany’s industrial region) wanted to organize a [Falun Dafa] photo exhibition. To make this possible, we contacted the mayor of our city, the honourable Dr. Koester and asked for an interview. He suggested exhibiting the photographs at the local Volks-Hochschule. (Note: Volks-Hochschule - literally translated means “People’s High School – Translator). The mayor further promised to write a letter of recommendation to the VHS for us.

The administrator of the local VHS, Mrs. Biskoping and her colleague, a gentleman named Dr. Vonde, agreed to this undertaking. Even Mr. Klein, lead official for Amnesty International for the Bergische Land section of Germany had promised his co-operation.
Dr. Vonde made it possible for us to use the foyer of the VHS building as our exhibition venue and wholeheartedly assisted in arranging the display of the photographs.

We were ready on March 12, 2002. Mrs. Biskoping in her capacity as administrator performed the opening of the exhibition. The mayor in his role as sponsor presented a speech wherein he sharply criticized the persecution of Falun Gong as a serious human rights transgression. He said it is his aim and hope that through this exhibition people would become acquainted with Falun Dafa and, further, that human rights violations such as the ones that have already happened would be fought against and pointed out, for all to see, so that they will be branded and condemned.

Following the mayor’s speech, Falun Dafa practitioner Mrs. Weiss from Frankfurt am Main reported about the events of November 20, 2001 at Tiananmen Square in Beijing [where she had demonstrated].

Mr. Klein from Amnesty International added detailed comments about the many-fold human rights violations being committed in China.

Several practitioners demonstrated the five exercises. These gentle, serene movements and the peaceful aura surrounding the practitioners visibly touched Dr. Vonde.

The whole opening ceremony proceeded cordially and harmoniously. The exhibition continues until April 21, 2002
