European Friends of Falun Gong Urge Jiang Zemin Not to Execute Falun Gong Practitioners

During the last few months we have heard about the accelerating persecution of Falun Gong practitioners in China by the Chinese government. Up until now practitioners had been subjected to all forms of torture, both mental and physical, and at least 375 had been killed while in custody at the hands of the Jiang Zemin regime.

In the last few days, the persecution has reached a horrible, even more sinister extreme, as Jiang Zemin has ordered the police to open fire on practitioners. How can a country, one of the most powerful in the world, and one which aims to become one of the strongest economies in the world, threaten to carry out such horrific crimes against its own people?

Jiang Zemin is also planning to carry out summary executions of Falun Gong practitioners across China.

Such evil acts against one’s own citizens cannot be accepted by any civilised nation, or any civilised president on this planet. These decisions could not possibly be made by any human being with even the slightest concept of what is just and proper behaviour.

In China’s history it has seen too many upheavals. When a leader turns his guns against his own people, it is very clear from history that it must be doomed to failure. A president cannot rule his country by killing its citizens. He cannot create peace and harmony by carrying out mass murder.

We hope that all Chinese people can realise now exactly what sort of despicable deeds have been carried out by President Jiang. His actions also show his despair at the complete and utter failure of his policy of persecution. On the 5th March, Changchun television successfully broadcast a 50-minute programme supportive of Falun Gong, and revealed the truths of Jiang’s persecution of Falun Gong practitioners and the deceit of the self-immolation incidents last year. The programme was viewed by approximately 200,000 people and shows his complete failure to stop Falun Gong practitioners from practising.

This event alone should alert the government to the scale of the feeling they are trying to suppress. They will not succeed in ending the practice of Falun Gong. The persecution will only serve to strengthen the resolve of practitioners, and add to the many millions of people worldwide who are turning to Falun Gong as a means of spiritual fulfillment.

We therefore call upon the Chinese government to reverse immediately its policy of shooting Falun Gong practitioners, and carrying out executions.

We also call upon the Chinese government to bring the persecution and killing to an end, and to engage in a peaceful dialogue with representatives of Falun Gong.

Finally we call upon all Chinese people with a kind heart to stand up, and stop Jiang Zemin from carrying out this outrageous massacre.
