Fields of Shame in Dresden
"Fields of Shame" is an exhibition touring across Europe. The founder of this project, the Pole Wojciech Modelski said “Above all we hope that many people will learn about the existing reality in our world where murder, rape and torture on a daily basis is the norm.”

We want to contribute to the fact that less and less people appease their conscience by stating, "No, I did not know that." The organiser was the International Organisation for Human Rights here in Germany. The exhibition consists of pictures and quotations of victims from totalitarian regimes in four countries: Burma, China, Tibet, North Korea and Cuba. The exhibition is being structured similar to an inner courtyard of a prison with bars. Every part of the exhibition contains an introduction about the human rights situation of the respective country, quotations of victims of the regime and photographs.

"Fields of Shame" has been exhibited in Germany since the 29th of August 2005 in succession each time between two to four days at public locations in over thirty different cities. The exhibition wants to clarify human rights issues and find people who will help the victims.

The German Falun Gong Association will be present in some cities in order to point out the cruel treatment of Falun Gong practitioners in the Peoples Republic of China. Mr. Zhen Wang, a student at the Technical University of Dresden was imprisoned in a Chinese labour camp for two years and will be present on Tuesday, the 22nd of November 2005 during the opening in order to report about his personal situation. He was imprisoned because he practised the Chinese meditation exercise of Falun Gong. He will be present during the exhibition and will speak with visitors of the Exhibition about his experiences.
