Female practitioner Peng Qingqing was arrested in May 2001 for delivering clothes and other daily necessities to her fellow practitioners in jail. She was illegally detained for two weeks and later transferred to the Yizhou Detention centre in Hubei Province, where she suffered all kinds of torture for several months. On December 28, during a large-scale arrest, her home was ransacked, and she was taken away. Her current whereabouts are unknown. Her husband, Yan Zhigang, remained steadfast and refused to write a pledge to stop practicing Falun Gong. As a result, he was dismissed from his job. In June 2001, he sought work in other parts of the country, but policemen from Wuhan City tracked him down, and he was once again forced to leave his job. He became destitute and homeless, and his current whereabouts are unknown.
